The main project this year is the Kirkby training ground development which is no small sum. It is happening 1st and is the priority spend this year. The pitch has just be upgraded, the main stand completed etc etc etc… so the Anfield stand upgrade is probably not as urgent as the ones I listed and those are no peanuts in expense either.

2018 is a world cup year… does anyone think Coutinho won’t try to fight for a place in the national team? Like it or not, he will play well for Liverpool because he wants to be selected for the world cup. So I do not see the logic of FSG entertaining all this without a solid replacement to Couts.
The logic is that Barca does not have much more cards to play with. They and whoever Couts’ agent is have badly advised him to play his trump card at this juncture so near the start of the season thinking they can play the same trick they did to us before. Sure Liverpool may sell him but it will mean the end of the little goodwill supporters/fans has towards them.
I may be biased in how I see this. But the logic does not add up. Couts will knuckle down and bugger off next year with the correct price for his talent.

How many weeks does Liverpool have to find a replacement 2 weeks? I just can’t see it. The club will be awash with money but will not have anyone to spend it on to replace Couts. I think it’s time to give Barca the middle finger.

well now.. it seems Couts handed a transfer request via email? Should have sent that BEFORE FSG made the statement if it’s true at all. No way FSG is going to allow this without looking like fools.
Boy, why does every year feel like a bad roller coaster ride? So what’s the truth guys? Anyone knows?

Suarez all the way. To me, nothing compares to him. Not even Messi can hold up a candle to him, let alone Torres.
He was and still is the most technically gifted player to have ever graced a Liverpool shirt.

@HightownHope I used to post with the same handle I have now. Maybe been 3 years or so since I made the last post.
@Oz no worries mate. It’s your right to say your thoughts on the page and you make some great points too. I am in Singapore btw so our time zones are not too far apart.I think the odds of us getting Keita may have improved lately. If VVD comes in which still looks likely and Couts stays at least another year then I will consider it a smashing transfer window. we need a central defender that can command the back line at least.
So let’s see where things go. Watford game is a concern though with so many injuries already. But could be a chance for Solanke as a sub with Sturridge out.

Aussie & Taxi welcome! I have bugbear with Aussie and Sean at the teamtalk forum which is why I stopped contributing after the yoursay page changed its format. It is very easy to be negative as default about almost everything that has happened.
Maybe it a defence mechanism to feel the despair before it actually happens but I find this is not in sync with being a fan of a football club. Its very tribal what we all feel and as a tribe we have cannot just say negative things almost everytime we talk about Liverpool. The core team is strong i believe and has potential to push higher than last year. What is needed is a top defender and if Couts stays, liverpool with be a nightmare for many clubs.
I hope in this forum posters will hold on the doom and gloom. Carry on with the cheeky banter though!

Thanks. The Hoffenheim game will tell if Couts deal is done. I doubt it though and the only way the management can appease the fans is to get VVD, Keita and 1 other star player to directly replace Coutinho. At this late juncture that is basically asking for trouble may even push Can out the exit door as well.
It will be an outright mess for Klopp. I just can’t see FSG being as insane as that. But one never knows.

Right, hello you lot. This transfer window for Liverpool has been the same old as in past windows in that we seem to make our business too public, too convoluting and with too much hype.
VVD is a problem of the clubs’ making. Keita? I think the club got too confident and in this I think Klopp got too cocky himself thinking that this could get done easily.
How many windows has it been in which the club management screwed up in how they went about the transfer business. Coutinho alleged transfer for all the noise coming out of the tabloids is a non-starter for the fans. We do NOT get pass the potential to real contender stage by selling players like him. Suarez was the last straw. Anymore and FSG will have hell with the fans globally.
