Conte was so upset at the loss of his friend Luca he couldn’t do his pre match press conference yesterday.

Really pleased for my neighbour Marlon Pack getting to play in the marvelous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a real David v Goliath tie v Spurs.

The passing of Luca made me very emotional forgetting his great attributes as a Player, Coach and Manager he was more importantly a lovely man.
“When the ball hit the back of the Old Trafford net that’s Vialli” RIP Luca and thanks for the memories.

5th January 2023 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202333Good effort from Chelsea on another day they could have got something from that game.
Big win for City I think they may begin to reel Arsenal in now.

5th January 2023 at 4:42 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #202308Chelsea have announced the signing of Benoit Badiashile with the centre-back arriving in a £35m deal from Monaco after signing a 7-and-a-half-year contract.
Less than a £5m pa spend re FFP.😊

5th January 2023 at 10:40 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202299Rooney would be just another press and repeat appointment Ed.
Dyche would probably save them too but he falls into the same category as Rooney.
Without there’s a complete change of strategy and some meaningful investment Everton are a lost cause imo.
Everton’s problems start at the very top.

5th January 2023 at 8:59 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202297Wayne Rooney is allegedly on the short list to replace Lampard. No wonder the Evertonians question the Board.

4th January 2023 at 5:41 pm in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202272Ed. yeah you’re right have Everton improved from Rafa to Frank and they haven’t but when I say he solved the Rafa problem there was little chance of Everton staying up last season with the Everton fan base so against Rafa.
Everton is an impossible job currently if you sell your best player and give next to nothing to the Manager when you’ve sailed so close to relegation last season you’re not going to improve whoever the Manager may be.
A big part of Frank getting the Chelsea job was the transfer ban.

4th January 2023 at 3:41 pm in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202266Ed. I don’t think Frank was necessarily the right appointment for Everton but he solved the Rafa problem.
Everton were fortunate to avoid relegation last season but if you sell your best player don’t replace him spend almost nothing on the team against the background of where you were last season you’re playing with fire.
Evertonians don’t want Frank replaced because they’ve got no confidence in who the owner would replace him with. Sean Dyche might dig them out of it this season but even medium term he’s not the answer.

4th January 2023 at 11:26 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202261To be fair Frank has been asked to do the job with his hands tied behind his back not only has he had no money to spend but Richarlison was sold and not replaced in a team that barely stayed up last season and Calvert Lewin is constantly injured result only 14 goals scored.

4th January 2023 at 8:30 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202258Everton are in a mess and that starts at the very top and whilst Rafa was the wrong appointment Frank was too inexperienced they are now in a hole they probably can’t afford to sack Frank and his staff and realistically who is there to replace him anyway.

3rd January 2023 at 10:26 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202240Seemingly the Liverpool players no longer have the legs to play high intensity football particularly in midfield. Klopp has to decide what style he wants to play and buy accordingly.

3rd January 2023 at 9:32 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202236Nothing lasts forever Liverpool need revitalising particularly in midfield move a few on sign a few and Liverpool will be good to go again probably next season. Nunez has pace to burn he’s well worth being given time imo.

1st January 2023 at 8:49 am in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202138The next 6 PL fixtures for both Arsenal and City include a number of difficult games for both teams in that period culminating in the Arsenal v City rearranged game.
Currently the title is in Arsenal’s hands but I tend to agree with CM the Everton result will have kicked City up the backside and unfortunately Chelsea play them on Thursday in their next PL game after Everton.😠

31st December 2022 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202134Well done Arsenal although they were a bit too casual in the second half but overall this is a really good Arsenal team.
Arsenal’s next 4 games which are tough are likely to be crucial.
I would like to say Chelsea could do Arsenal a favour on Thursday but I doubt it.
What a pass by Odegard to Martinelli. I’ve been saying I still think City will win it but I’m not so sure now the picture will be clearer after City visit the Emirates.

31st December 2022 at 4:21 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #202118Yeah my bad Lucky when I quoted the £17.5m it was purely from an FFP respective this one gives me the colly wobbles too it so much money the lads as good as he is is not worth the fee imo just as Grealish wasn’t but that’s the trouble with release clauses. As part of the takeover terms as I remember it a large amount had to be put aside for future transfers. Cheers 9’s

31st December 2022 at 3:02 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #202106Lucky, lot of money for Fernandez based primarily on a World Cup which could be dangerous but we had a zero net spend last season and if we were to buy Fernandez the fee would be spread across the contract probably 6 years so £17.5m pa but as you say eventually it all adds up.
I suspect we will sell a few in the Summer though too, the strategy going forwards now looks like buy top player where the team needs strengthening alongside investing in future players.
You’re giving too much credit to the Spuds though they finished 12,14 and 17 points behind Chelsea in the PL in the 3 seasons prior to the Abramovich takeover.😊
