Boga to Birmingham on a season long loan?
Given how thin the Chelsea squad already is Chelsea must either have some very solid deals lined up that will drop into place before 11pm on Thursday or Emenalo and Marina need to walk the plank @ 11:01pm on Thursday!?

I think Chelsea’s alleged interest in VVD is just paper talk Chelsea have Azpiluqueta, Luiz,Cahill,Rudiger and Christensen for 3 positions already so I can’t see why they would want to spend Β£70m on VVD especially as there are other areas that need strengthening.
I also don’t think Southampton will sell him to anybody this window and especially not to Liverpool given what went before and I read again today that Liverpool can’t approach Southampton on VVD for fear of the tapping up charge raising it’s head again.
Good business imo by Liverpool to agree a Β£48m deal on Keita now ahead of 2018.

Good to see Big Jim on here.
Nil needs to be given a break now imo what happened on the other site has nothing to do with this site and it’s good to see him posting on here “sensibly”.
I’m sure the Editor on here will judge Nil purely on what he posts on here.

Ed, Chelsea still short of Hazard,Cahill and Bakayoko is not yet match fit once Chelsea get all their players back and up and running one to eleven there as good as anyone in the PL and better than most.
I’m really looking forward to seeing a front three of Hazard, Morata and Pedro with Bakayoko driving through from behind them.
Truthfully 8 or 9 nil today wouldn’t haven’t flattered Liverpool they were that good going forwards and Arsenal were that had all over the pitch.
Having said all that I still think the title is going to Manchester.
Liverpool’s front three are awesome and will be even better with Coutinho behind them if he stays and can get his head straight again and 4 nil today flatters Arsenal because without taking anything away from Liverpool Arsenal were absolutely abysmal today.
Arsenal’s problems all start with the Arsenal Board they should have bittenn the bullet and fired Wenger, Wenger should not be hanging on to players that don’t want to be there, Monreal shouldn’t be playing centre back and Bellerin shouldn’t be playing left back Arsenal are in turmoil now because you can add to this that the match going Arsenal fans will turn on Wenger again.
Sad for Wenger because he is souring his own heritage now.

Didn’t United have 9 points after 3 games last season?
There’s a long way to go yet but United are stronger than last season as are City imo certainly squad wise I suspect both will be in the mix when the race hits the home straight at the end of the season.
Liverpool v Arsenal should be a cracker strange decision by Klopp to rest Mignolet?
Klopp’s explanations is that he is being rested? But after just 4 games with an international break to come that seems a bit weird.

Looking forwards to this one.
Sanchez back too ?
Both teams are capable of storing goals and both teams are capable of conceding goals too.
So nil nil then.?

nb, UEFA are committed to a strategy of spreading the CL still further and encouraging the smaller Leagues so I cant see it going back to what it was and only the biggest Leagues have 3/4 places available which as you rightly said led to 2005 which was probably one of the most memorable Finals of them all.
Can’t see it going back to a straight knock out competition based on the above.
But you’re right without you’re in a Group of death like Spurs it really doesn’t really get going until the round of 16.

Totally agree with that summary Ed.
I still don’t understand though how you can be Champions and in Pot 1 and not Pot 3 and Liverpool still get an easier Group?
If Carlsberg did CL draws eh. ?

banjo, no Cahill, Fabregas, Hazard, Pedro only fit enough for the bench and Bakayoko playing in an emergency with no pre season probably had something to do with both the team selection and tactics don’t you think.?

beni, ha,ha, even better. Games are always difficult to predict but I reckon it’s evens to odds on that Wenger will have a moan about something without Arsenal pull off an unlikely win of course.

Should be a cracker both teams are a bit vulnerable defensively but great going forwards as a neutral I’m hoping for a 5 all draw.?

23rd August 2017 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Echo reporting Coutinho to Barcelona interest has ceased #4145Ha, ha quite possibly banjo. The Neymar fee has elevated fees to a ridiculous level I think new balance is probably right previously Β£70m would have been considered top whack for Coutinho and the current Barca offer of Β£138m is all but twice that.
If Coutinho doesn’t go this summer he will probably go next summer but will the transfer market be as high as it is now?

23rd August 2017 at 5:48 pm in reply to: Echo reporting Coutinho to Barcelona interest has ceased #4141More comments attributed to Coutinho tonight about wanting out. How credible these comments are both wth regards to staying and going is questionable as they are all are from 3rd parties and not from Coutinho himself.
The big question which no one can answer is if Coutinho doesn’t get what is a dream move for him what Coutinho will Liverpool get this season.
Interesting point from Standard journalist Tony Evans who is also a Liverpool fan in his interview on Talksport today saying that FSG have backed themselves into a corner by saying Coutinho won’t be sold no matter what the offer and it’s difficult for FSG to back track on that, which is why Evans suggests it won’t happen even at Β£138m.

22nd August 2017 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Echo reporting Coutinho to Barcelona interest has ceased #4101An unknown quantity. If Liverpool get the original Coutinho back they’ve made the right decision but if they get a lesser Coutinho back they might regret not taking the money.
Be surprised if Coutinho was still at Liverpool at the end of the 2018 window. But time will be the judge.

I agree with Sean, Spurs looked what they are a very very good side and not many teams will leave Wembley this season with 3 points.
Chelsea won’t be up and running imo for a few weeks yet and a front 3 of Hazard,Morata and Pedro when all are fit will be interesting and Bakayoko showed today with no preseason that he will bring a bit more drive and pace to Chelsea’s midfield. Hopefully a signing or two too before the window closes.
I think the title will go to Manchester this season but hopefully Chelsea once they are fully up and running will have enough to keep in the top 3/4.
