Ed, there’s more chance of Chelsea doing the Quadruple this season than Barca joining the PL.?

The people on both sides of the divide in this seem commited to wanting negotiations. Up to the politicians to listen to the people now and sit down together.

We were never going to get a great performance making 7 changes and making a significant tactical change to three at the back.

Southgate’s job now is to look at who he can add to the squad between now and the summer and established his best tactics for different situations.

How England perform next Summer is the most important thing now everything else is just steps along the way.

Ha, ha banjo. I would first focus on the League title which hasn’t been won since 1961.?

“Players they don’t know and have never met” come on come clean banjo are you a personal friend of Kane’s and have the inside track.?

Kane could well be another Matt le Tissier and credit to him if that’s how it all turns out there are very few one club players and Kudos to Kane if he settles for circa £100k pw at Spurs rather than circa £300k pw elsewhere and probably minor trophies for major trophies.

I don’t care either way mate but if Kane wants to be the player he aspires to be and wants to win League titles and the Champions League he’s far more likely to do that at Real Madrid than Spurs. In fact he’s far more likely to do that at City or United than Spurs but even at £200m that might be too much for even Levy to countenance.

Jim, I watched the U 21 game last night and there may be one or two ready to step up.

2 holding midfielders v Lithuania at home when you need a bit of creativity? And Southgate going back to an injury prone Wilshere illustrates our lack of quality options in midfield.

I thought Barkley might be the answer but let’s see of form and the injury has set him back badly.

Both of my little lads have experience of and are in Academies, not every young ladbis lucky enough to get that chance but the level of Coaching is at a different level to any local non pro Club with UEFA qualified Coaches, small group Coaching and it’s all ball at feet work and the youngsters are taught to love the ball which includes having your own ball.

Without the quality of Coaching in the Academies for our best young players and the changes to youth football that the FA have instigated based on Dutch lines which includes small teams and small pitch football we won’t get better players coming through and we will never improve.

Definitely from personal experience I can confirm that there are major advantages in our best young players being developed in these Academies from the age of 5/6 upwards but it will take time for those advantages to filter upwards.

Kane won’t play for another PL club imo. If he moves it will be to a top Spanish club like Bale did and for an awful lot of Money probably circa £200m and in the PL only the Manchester clubs could afford that.

I’m not a massive Southgate fan but if the FA insist that any future England Manager must be English then that’s who you get.

A bigger problem other than Southgate is the quality of players he has to work with also do we need Henderson and Dier sitting in from of the back 4 against lesser teams?

Tbh I can only see the usual disappointment in Russia with what we have available. Hope I’m wrong.

14 secs sounds pathetic but as Paxton rightly says Leicester had two months to finalise their transfer business it’s ridiculous that so much transfer business falls to the last day, hours and minutes of the window. I was highly critical of Chelsea re this on the Chelsea site. Poor poor management imo.

Great post Brian I’ve always loved watching Pep teams.

Both Chelsea and City have experienced the good the bad and the ugly and previously both have seen more of the bad and the ugly too and their are lots of parallels between our two clubs.

Brian, “You have to wonder if Burnley could do a Leicester as well” Ha,ha, there’s more chance of Arsenal winning the title.?

I really enjoy watching City and I’m a bit of a Pep fan, reading the book on his Bayern reign now which is very good and as I said in an earlier post the biggest compliment I could pay City was that City looked like a real Pep team on Saturday.

I hope you City lads don’t spoil it all for me by getting too smug.?

I think Oz yob is spot on with his assessment of Liverpool’s needs if they are going to be a regular challenger for the PL title which is what a club of Liverpool status should be.

Currently only West Ham and Palace have shipped more goals and Liverpool will find it tough to secure a 4th place finish this season imo. Joey Barton said last week that Liverpool have a Champions League attack and a Championship defence tough but it makes the point.

How many of Mignolet/Karius and the Liverpool back 4 would get into the teams of the top 5clubs in the PL very few imo which tells it’s own story.

Also I think it’s more than just a personell problem it’s a philosophy and a defensive Coaching problem too which is down to Klopp and his Coaching team to put right.

Jim, read all of my posts on the game!

I’ve never said City didn’t deserve to win the game and I have consistently said that I think City will end up winning the title this season even before the season kicked off.

Hazard didn’t turn up on Saturday night neither did any Chelsea player and there were reasons for that, that doesn’t change the results of the fact City deserved to win.

But the title isn’t won in 7 games and there will be twists and turns.

Brian, to be fair it was 3 qames in a week and away to Stoke, away to Atletico followed by an in form City at home after Chelsea only returned to London at 5am on Thursday morning when all the City players were tucked up in their beds by midnight on Tuesday cuddling their teddy bears and had the options of early nights on Wednesday and Thursday night too.

Chelsea couldn’t get around the pitch on Saturday whilst City were full of energy apart from everything else City were rested and we’ll prepared and Chelsea were poorly prepared and fatigued and then Chelsea lost Morata.

Weeks don’t come much tougher than Chelsea’s week last week..

As I said I think City will end up winning the title but there are a lot of games to play the CL could play a part if City go deep into it and there will be lots of twists and turns along the way I’m sure.

Just to put a slightly different slant on things and not wishing to take anything away from a very good City side Chelsea completed a week of Stoke away, Atletico away not getting back to London until 5 am on Thursday morning and City at home whilst City travelled nowhere pre the Chelsea game played much easier games and were fully prepared and rested whilst Chelsea went into the City game with limited preparation time and fatigued then lost Morata and KDB who rarely scores scored a worldie.

At this point last season Chelsea were 8 points behind City and ended 15 points ahead of them.

Personally I think City will probably win the title but it’s only 7 games and there is a long long way to go yet. ?

All the people I know in Catalonia want independence and voted yesterday for independence but the polls did show a pretty even split before the outlawed independence vote.

A 90% vote for independence from a 40% turnout is a very strong vote for independence now, how much that was driven by the Spanish Government’s handling of it all who knows. And who knows where it all goes from here?

If it ends in acrimony as it surely will it could impact on Barca, where that all goes again who knows.
