Taxi, your usual fair and balanced assesment. I would have been disappointed to have come away with nothing from that game. I thought both Salah and Azpiluqueta were both candidates for MOM with Hazard not far behind. Salah was fabulous a major mistake by Chelsea alongside the De Bruyne error in letting him go.
You make a good point about the atmosphere at Anfield but it’s not just a Liverpool problem though all of the top PL clubs are affected by the advent of the tourist fans and the once in a lifetime fans at games now.
At the Bridge you will see tourist fans coming out of the club shop from Japan and China etc etc completely togged out in all new Chelsea gear with multiple scarves around their necks who can’t join in the songs and chants that contribute to the atmosphere because the majority don’t speak enough English and or don’t know the words to join in.
It’s the price we all pay for the PL being a global brand and attracting major overseas companies to our club’s to be shirt sponsors or the official club Cornflakes sponsor etc etc.? Cheers 999

In the context of battling for a CL place I’m happy with the draw, Anfield is a tough place to go at the best of times and a lot tougher with a 5:30pm Saturday evening kick off after a circa 6 hour flight from Baku and not getting home until 6am on Thursday morning.

I can see the benefit of City trying to sign VVD or indeed Sanchez but I can’t see the point of them signing Mahrez given the strength of their squad as it stands.

United are through to the Round of 16 there is no way they will lose by 6 to Moscow.
All the PL club’s will almost certainly be in the Round of 16 which complicates the draw for the PL clubs because it limits who the PL clubs can be drawn against.
Chelsea for instance if they were to finish 2nd in their Group and if Liverpool were also to top their Group could currently only be drawn against Besiktas, Barca or PSG and if Chelsea were to top their Group which won’t be easy with the last game being v Atletico who are fighting to stay in the competition then currently Chelsea could be drawn against Juve, Bayern or Real.
Besiktas to one side there isn’t a great deal of difference there but whoever you draw in the Round of 16 will be a tough team it’s the nature of the competition.
I suspect the final CL games in respect of the forthcoming derby clash with United favours City because City can field a scratch side ahead of the Derby whilst United will probably go with a full to almost full side in order to win the Group and try and avoid the likes of PSG and Barca.
I’m just pleased to see Chelsea get through they won’t win it but it would be nice to go a bit further.

We’ll done to Spurs on a very good away win which keeps them top of what looked like a very tough Group when it was drawn and to City for their win and topping their Group.
Congrats too to young Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz on their CL debuts for City hopefully their first CL game of many.
Disappointment for Liverpool after being 3 nil up at half time to end up drawing 3-3 with Klopp saying after the game “it feels like a defeat”.
But Liverpool could still win the Group by beating Spartak Moscow at Anfield.
To put football into perspective though “Sevilla will make an official statement regarding the health of head coach Eduardo Berizzo on Wednesday.
It is expected that the Andalusian club will confirm reports claiming that Berizzo, who masterminded a spectacular Champions League comeback against Liverpool on Tuesday night, has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.
Sevilla’s club president Jose Castro told Spanish radio station Cope on Tuesday: “As it is a personal and complicated issue, I prefer to wait to tomorrow [Wednesday).”
My best wishes and prayers go out to Eduardo Berizzo in his battle ahead.

Jim, my mistake mate apologies.
City 2nd favourites and rightly so imo.
Keep Kompany fit and get Stones and Mendy back and if the draws are kind and you get some breaks it could be on.
Sounds like Foden might start tonight?
All the best to all the PL teams playing tonight and tomorrow night. Cheers 999

Best of luck to Spurs and Liverpool tonight and United and City tomorrow night. Those 4 clubs look odds on to qualify for the Round of 16 with all of them favourites to top their Groups.
Chelsea look like they may have handed the iniative to Roma in terms of topping the Group and need a win at Qarabag to ensure qualification otherwise they would have a very tricky home tie v Atletico with at least a draw needed to ensure qualification.

Jim, cheers buddie but whilst I’m still going to pop in on here occasionally it will be a bit more infrequent than previously.
Re your post@6:53pm the latest SkyBet Odds odds following the games on 18/19th November have United now at 12/1 and Spurs now at 25/1.
I heard on the Radio today but can’t find it anywhere that the odds on City going unbeaten in the PL are 25/1. Hell of a hit from KDB yesterday. Cheers 999

nb, seriously mate give it a rest there’s nothing on the thread remotely anti Liverpool and for some reason you seem to have got the hump because of the praise that is being given to City even though the majority would agree that that praise is fully justified. And praising City isn’t in anyway detrimental to Liverpool.
Where you get “precious of their own and scared” only you know.
I would much rather it was Chelsea with a 8 point lead but it isn’t to be this season for Chelsea and I’m a football fan first and a Chelsea fan second and I’m happy to admit that I’m enjoying the way City are playing but concerned how it might impact on Chelsea’s chances going forwards.
If these kind of reactions from you to a perfectly sensible football discussion are going to continue sorry to say but I’m going to chuck it in on here.

Brian, Tbh mate I was thinking about the great English teams ( other than Chelsea of course ?) that I’ve enjoyed the most in my years following the game and came up with Arsenal of 2004,United of 1999 and Liverpool of 1984 and then I came across the baulk of the article above and I thought I would share it with everyone.
I was a bit too young to remember too much about the Babes but from the television footage I’ve seen it showed that we were robbed of another truly great side.
I really enjoyed Barca 2009 under Pep too.
I like to think that I’m a football fan first and Chelsea fan second which I believe allows you to enjoy teams that aren’t your own and I’m currently enjoying this City side in the same way and they imo may well go on to become a truly great side too as all the ingredients are there. Cheers 999

Banjo, I seem to remember some pretty nervy posts from you over the years when Spurs were in with a shout of achieving something.
I think you have to be a fan of a club leading from the front to appreciate not wanting to get carried away and I can understand the City lads on here not wanting to get to far ahead of themselves just yet.
Revised PL title odds on Monday.

banjo, ha, ha, be interesting to see Spurs go 8/9 points in front of everyone else in a title race and see how you react to it I suspect you might go the same way as myself and the City lads it really is never truly over until it’s over mate just ask Kevin Keegan. ?

Good to see the PL back.
The big game is obviously Arsenal v Spurs, but Watford v West Ham might be interesting with it being Moyes first game in charge I suspect Moyes would have been concentrating on making the Hammers difficult to beat.

Paxton, I’ve have said numerous times on here inc on this thread that:
1) I understand why the City lads don’t want to count their chickens given the number of games to go and 2) as per last season as banjo will verify?I never accepted that Chelsea had won the title right up until they had more points than could be accumulated by Spurs across the number of games left.
I am certainly not being critical of City fans and their position on this because as I have previously said I would be exactly the same as them and indeed I was exactly the same as them last season and in fact in all of the 5 seasons that Chelsea have won the PL title.
But I am acknowledging what looks to me like a very special City team coached by one of the best Coaches in world football and given City’s financial resources personally I can only see them getting better too.
Unfortunately for the rest of us.?
