“The Times report that Chelsea have found a short-term successor to SD Michael Emenalo , with Scott McLachlan – who is the club’s head of international scouting – now having a greater say in the recruitment process. McLachlan is working closely with Granovskaia and is already drawing up transfer plans for the January window, with the Blues heavily linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen starlet Leon Bailey.
Chelsea are currently reviewing their management structure and will look to identify a permanent replacement for Emenalo – which could be McLachlan.
McLachlan will work alongside Granovskaia as they make January transfer plans.
That process will not be swift, however, and Chelsea are not expected to make an announcement on a new technical director until after this season. Emenalo was also credited with acting as peace maker between Antonio Conte and the club’s board, with the Italian clashing with the board over targets, and McLachlan will presumably need to placate Conte in much the same way.” ???

CMan, do we need another striker to understudy Morata or another striker to play with and compliment Morata?
I think at the very least if might be a bit of both which will require a quality signing which imo will be tough to pull off in January.
But here’s hoping.?

Maverick, as I said in an earlier post mate imo PSG wont be able to sign anyone until they sell and it will take an awful lot of sales to create a fund of £170m.
Plus they have to raise the same to fund the Mbappe fee in the Summer having already spent circa £200m on Neymar.
The Mars Bars are on me if SMS joins PSG in January.?

I don’t think Jose’s ego will let him leave United voluntarily without winning the PL given that he’s won a League title at every single club he’s managed since Porto.
I fully expect another massive transfer splurge this Summer from Jose and at least another season from him at United.
Mourinho has only had one full season and two Summer transfer windows to date at United and United’s transfer strategy was all over the place under Moyes and LVG.
It takes time to turn a massive tanker around.
A bit more patience is required imo both the loss on Wednesday night and the draw last night on another day could easily have been victories for United.

Keita is much more than just a defensive midfield player he’s a very effective box to box player which will improve Liverpool’s midfield but they will still need an out and out holder imo.

Cm, as I said in my previous post all very much best left there now.
If there is anything to these claims in respect of Pep at City or City as a club then I’m sure the football authorities would have picked it up by now and or will pick it up in the future.

Wise fan, I echo both the Ed’s and Chelseaman’s welcome to you.
Hopefully the problems we’ve experienced in the past won’t resurface here.
It’s a very good site with little to no problems and an Editor who cares deeply about the site he has created and is very involved in the site on a day to day basis. Cheers 999

Cm, all this sort of stuff will just rile up the City lads on here who area good bunch of lads and considerably grounded considering the season City are having digging over the coals on this will just cause significant angst on the site and is unnecessary because if Pep/City were doing anything wrong in this area it will get picked up by the FA.
The FA conducts drug testing both in competition (post match) and out of competition (at training sessions and player’s home addresses). Players can be selected for a drug test in either a random or a targeted basis.
Targeted means if the FA felt there was anything untoward going on at City they would act and to the best of my knowledge they haven’t.
The FA seeks to use all intelligence and research available to identify the areas of highest doping risk and tailors its testing programme accordingly.
Players are tested for the prohibited substances contained within The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations. The FA conducts drug tests on players via the collection of blood and urine samples. All tests are collected by Doping Control Officers (DCO) and Chaperones, who are accredited to World Anti-Doping Code (WADC) standards.
All best left there CM which was highlighted by the Ed @ 8:41pm.

Sean, I thought Chelsea played some nice football today and they obviously completely dominated the game but were toothless up front especially without Morata and we need another Frankie Lampard as no goals are coming from midfield. Cheers 999

maverick, PSG bidding 170m for SMS is just paper talk mate. They won’t buy anyone in January imo without they move players out to find it.

Barca win 3 nil at Real and are now 14 points ahead of Real Madrid. I suspect Real will do some very significant rebuilding in the Summer.
Watch out Real could be coming to a club near to us all this Summer!?

Millwall at the New Den was one of the worst experiences of my Chelsea supporting football life it was like a war zone.

PSG wont sign anyone in January without selling someone first UEFA are currently all over their accounts.
If Sandro leaves Juve I still think Chelsea are favourites because of London, the number of Brazilian players Chelsea have and Conte.
But we’ll see I don’t believe any of the transfer rumours even more so in January.

23rd December 2017 at 10:14 am in reply to: Achilles Heel: Not being able to hold onto the lead and letting in goals RAPID! #9649I think Jim has hit the nail on the head re Klopp his football philosophy is based almost entirely on the offensive side of the game and the way Liverpool play very much reflects the way Dortmund played.
Tbh Chelsea aside City and Liverpool are the teams I currently enjoy watching the most and in fairness to Liverpool offensively when they are on their game they are a joy to watch but you know as do the opposition that Liverpool have a soft centre and a dodgy keeper and even when they are 2 or 3 nil up they are always potentially going to give that lead away.
Obviously signing better defensive players will help as will signing a reliable keeper and a defensive midfield player and Keita will be a help in that but he is not a defensive midfield player which is just one of the players that Liverpool really need.
I think the owners will give Klopp next season but he’s already more than two years into his tenure and he is still to go even close to solving Liverpool’s defensive frailties which is partly a Coaching/ philosophy issue and partly a recruitment issue and currently Klopp looks like a Coach who either doesn’t want to or lacks the Coaching wherewithal to Coach the defensive side of the gsme.
It’s far too easy to blame FSG imo especially as Klopp has spent the best part of £100m on attacking players in circa the past 12 months.
Did Klopp really need to spend over £30m on Ox when he needed a Keeper, defenders and a defensive midfield player?
Unless Klopp solves the defensive frailties and eases back a tad on his offensive philodophy he’s probably living on borrowed time at Liverpool and wont go past the end of next season.

“There are the dark arts of the game that Jurgen Klopp spoke about a few weeks ago and said he didn’t want to get involved in.
“It’s maybe someone who goes down with injury and you’re not hurt. Slow the game down, slow the atmosphere down.”
“They’re always involved in games that are end-to-end. It’s great for us (as broadcasters), they’re great to watch but you’ll never get far because we’re all in those situations as players you have to find a way in a hostile stadium to kill the crowd but this crowd got lifted at 2-1.” Jamie Carragher
