Nil, that’s not true mate my view on Liverpool as I’ve stated on here numerous times is that they are fantastic going forwards but defensively frail which seems to be the consensus view of the site.

As I’ve also said previously if Klopp can finally sort out the defensive frailties which imo is more than just signing new players Liverpool would become a very credible title challenger but getting above this City team is going to be a challenge for us all. Cheers 999

Nil, after game 20 last season Liverpool had 44 points and so they are 6 points worse off than at the same point last season.

Chelsea had 49 points after 20 games last season and are consequently 7 points worse off.

It’s a measure of how well City are actually doing though that even if Chelsea were sitting on the same points total as last season they would still trail City by 6 points and City would still have a game in hand.

I’ve just done what you did though and applied an “if only” adding in the points that Chelsea shouldn’t have given away this season and also added an “if only” in taking away the points City won in injury time and Chelsea now have a 3 point lead over City in the PL table. ?

Sadly it’s all make believe though because as well know football doesn’t work like that as much as we might like it to.?

Pagan, I’ve never argued that point mate but had Jose inherited Aguero,Silva, De Bruyne and Sterling as Pep did the squad Jose started with would have been significantly stronger and Pep’s considerably weaker.

Pagan, that post wasn’t necessarily my opinion it was from the Manchester Evening News and I put it up because it contained the quotes that banjo was referring to re increased transfer spending.

Though taking nothing away from what Pep and City are achieving I do think Pep inherited a much better squad of players than Mourinho which included Aguero, Sterling, Silva and De Bruyne.

Mourinho ultimately may end up at PSG as there are few club’s left that will fit him but winning the French League won’t appeal to him and the only challenge would be winning the Champions League.

I don’t think he will walk away from United in the medium term his ego wont let him and he will also believe that he can ultimately win the PL he’s been here before overtaking a Barca team managed by Pep that at the time was considered the best club team football had ever seen.

Personally I still wouldn’t rule it out without things were to continue to flounder and the Board turned against him.

Jim, ha, ha, my musical taste are very diverse and include the Carpenters, the Beatles, the Who, Clapton, the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Bowie,Motown, Led Zep,Quo,the Stones,Springsteen, Oasis,Weller, Snow Patrol, Hendrix to name but a few and I try and pluck away at the Guitar very unsuccessfully I might add. Also the Hamsters a little known touring Band sadly who have now stopped touring lead Guitarist Slim played a mean lead Guitar.

Clapton, Page and Hendrix are my Guitar heroes.

Cm, no Jose was fine for the first 2 seasons back at the Bridge albeit still a bit controversial but he blew up in Season 3.

I wouldn’t totally dismiss the same happening at United eventually especially if he doesn’t win the PL but I think he will almost certainly go again next season after some substantial spending in the Summer window.

Don’t forget fellas he had the same problem in Spain coming up against Pep and Barca at their best but he still found a way to win La Liga.

Goat, I’m not saying Mourinho will stay until he wins a PL title if it doesn’t happen next season which will be no easy task he could go then but I’m pretty sure he will go again next season after an even bigger spend next Summer.

Also don’t forget even though Barca were his club Pep only went 4 seasons at Barca and 3 seasons at Bayern there’s no guarantees with anyone. Cheers All 999

Nil, big fan of Cliff’d way back and seen a lot of him. One of my mates in the record biz is Bruce Welch’s son.

Dwayne is out in Hong Kong now so I haven’t seen him for quite a while but he got me loads of tickets for Cliff’s gigs plus Cliff and the Shadows too.

Dwayne is Cliff’s Godson too so apart from the obvious in through his Dad he always saw me right for tickets. Great bloke and I love Cliff and the Shad’s.

Been out for a lovely meal with the missus had plenty of Italian vino and finished off with a Bailey’s Coffee so I’m well chilled now and I want to wish you and yours together with all the lads on here and their families a “Truly Happy and Peaceful Christmas”.

Hopefully we all remmber what it’s all about.

Nil, the majority of supporters especially the match going fans just live in hope and know that there will be more failures than successes for their club the lucky ones live through a magical period but football is cyclical and nothing lasts forever bar the memories. Even United’s domination of the PL ended.

Nobody can “DEMAND” that their club compete for and win titles based on what they achieved 30, 40 or 50 years ago.

Chelsea have won 2 PL titles in the past three seasons and even as current Champions you can only hope for a title challenge or a future League title.

Chelsea didn’t win a League title for 50 years and I never dared to even dream of a League title yet Chelsea have won 5 League titles in 13 seasons and if it all ends there I will always be grateful for what I’ve seen us win.

There are fans of numerous clubs who just dream of playing in the CL and will never see their club’s win a major trophy let alone a League title which was why Leicester’s title win two seasons ago was so special.

What was achieved in the past means nothing now in the pursuit of future honours whether you be Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea or Preston North End!

Jim, it will be difficult and not just for United especially if Pep stays which seems likely but that will drive Mourinho on.

Time will be his judge at United personally despite the strength of Pep, City and the financial resources of City I wouldn’t bet against it and I suspect Mourinho will have a real go next season after a very significant spend in the Summer.
