Jim, I fully expect City to spend big and strengthen further an already great team/squad with at least 2 or 3 top quality signings

It’s up to the chasing pack to try and catch City which will require considerable investment/very good buys predominantly in the Summer window.

Liverpool have kicked it off with the signing of VVD add Keita to that and a quality Keeper and they won’t be far away imo. The others inc Chelsea will need to follow. Cheers 999

Jim, I never expected you to agree mate.?

However what can’t be argued is that City are currently a long way ahead of all of the chasing pack and the PL title race effectively over before the New Year might be good for City but it’s bad for the PL.

So Liverpool signing quality players together with hopefully the other clubs in the chasing pack signing quality player hopefully will make the title race a bit more of a contest next season.

Jim, who knows mate on form VVD imo is good enough to start for City but he’s not worth £75m. Best for everyone he went to Liverpool.

Sean, never the less mate Mourinho is right if this City team are the best City team that the PL has ever seen and they will go again in the Summer window with another round of massive spending improving what is already a great City team/squad and the chasing pack will have to spend big / be successful in the Summer transfer market because the last thing the PL needs is the title race being over before the New Year every season.

That’s why I’m pleased Liverpool bought VVD rather than City as Conte said only last week other clubs can’t afford to let City buy all the best players.

Whilst I get that Mourinho is unpopular with all but the fans of the club that he manages and then not even with all of them and that he can be antagonistic, a prize plum and a complete Arsenal at times but to suggest that a Manager that has won multiple League titles in 4 different countries with 4 different teams can’t Coach seems a bit foolish to me.

Ask Frank Lampard whether Mourinho can’t Coach and improve players and I suspect you would get a very short answer

I’m a massive fan of Pep’s but let’s not forget that it was only last season that he was being written off by many as not being able to cope with the rigours of the PL.

The time to judge Mourinho’s tenure at United will be when he moves on and not a season and a half into it in which to be fair he has won 2 trophies.

Personally I would much rather see City succeed than United but I also think it is foolish to write Mourinho off as a busted flush just yet.

VVD to Liverpool is exactly what needed to happen the chasing pack of club’s have to buy top quality players to compete with City.

Hopefully the other chasing pack club’s follow suit because one team dominating the PL as City are now is not good for the PL were it to be ongoing.

I think everyone needs to bear in mind that a few years back if you weren’t in the ground watching the game you couldn’t comment on a Referee’s performance because you hadn’t seen it.

Now we’re all armchair quarter backs armed with lap tops and tablets sitting at home analysing every controversial decision front ways side ways and backwards multiple times including in slo mo’s belting out messages on social decrying the Referee and telling everyone what a terrible game the Ref had whilst the poor old Referee’s have to make crucial decisions in an instance with 60,000 people breathing down your neck

If anyone thinks it’s easy go out and try it in a park game I guarantee anyone will make mistakes even on a park pitch on a Sunday afternoon in a game between two Pub teams with just a handful watching rather than 60,000 screaming their heads off.

The battle for the top 4 will be what sustains interest in the PL post Christmas with the title already all but done and dusted bar a complete City collapse which seems incredibly unlikely.

From 2nd to 5th the points difference is a mere 6 points and one of the 4 teams chasing a top 4 spot is going to be disappointed and it could get even more competitive should Arsenal find a little bit of form given that they are only 4 points off of Liverpool in 4th place.

Any of the 4 or 5 club’s chasing a top 4 spot that can pull of a crucial signing or two in the January window will considerably improves their chances of finishing in the top 4 and as difficult as the January window has always been to sign the best players some great players have moved in the January window Vidic, Evra, Matic and Suarez come to mind for instance not forgetting Fernando Torres of course! ?

Nil, we all face the same problems look at the Everton v Chelsea game which was 2 points dropped by Chelsea after completely dominating the game and with Everton not even having a shot on target.

The lesser teams will always look to frustrate the better teams and it’s up to the better teams to break them down it’s always been that way mate.

ppt, the January window is a very difficult window to trade in and whatever United do or don’t do in the January window won’t change the destiny of the PL title this season it will take the Summer window for anyone to have any impact and even then City themselves will strengthen too.
