Pagan, I think it should work pretty much like it does in Rugby where the Referee can call in the Video Ref if he needs him to analyse the footage for confirmation on a decision.
I don’t think you can have someone on a Monitor over ruling the Referee’s decisions and I don’t think the Football powers that be would ever sanction that. Cheers 999

Jim, some big names on the panel Terry Butcher, Lee Dixon and Danny Murphy . That trio are joined by fellow ex-England internationals Trevor Sinclair and Chris Powell in a Football Association pool that will review suspected cases of what is being called ‘successful deception of a match official’.
It’s a mystery why they are not bringing a few more obvious cases forward personally I think the FA have to go for a majority decision rather than a unanimous decision and the same panel sitting weekly to get some consistency.

1st January 2018 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Let's try and help Referees once and for all with realistic ideas/solutions #10752Hhmm! didn’t realise that Pagan the Chelsea fan in me says I won’t be happy if it works against us and we go out on a VR decision but elsewhere someone else goes through in similar circumstances with no VR but the football fan in me says it’s got to start somewhere and perhaps it makes sense not to have blanket usage of it just yet.
Are you aware of the areas it’s being used fir.?
I guess it’s ” One small step for man one giant leap for mankind”. ?

1st January 2018 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Let's try and help Referees once and for all with realistic ideas/solutions #10749I posted this on the Weekend football thread but it’s probably more appropriate on here as it provides an explanation as to how the diving panel works.
Terry Butcher, Lee Dixon and Danny Murphy are among the ex-players and managers tasked with dishing out two-match bans to divers this season – but there are no former strikers in the group.
The trio were joined by fellow ex-England internationals Trevor Sinclair, Chris Powell and Rachel Brown-Finnis in a Football Association pool that will review suspected cases of what is being called ‘successful deception of a match official’.
Butcher and Powell are two of four out-of-work managers, along with Alex McLeish and Nigel Adkins, appointed to a pool in which they are among two ex-goalkeepers, four ex-defenders and two ex-midfielders.
Each suspected case will be reviewed by a three-strong panel of one manager, one ex-player and one former referee, selected from Eddie Wolstenhome, Alan Wiley, Mike Mullarkey, Steve Dunn and Keren Barratt.
Panel members will not be able to sit in judgment on cases in which there may be a conflict of interest.
The FA introduced the new offence of ‘successful deception of a match official’ this summer as part of a crackdown on diving and feigning injury.Incidents where a player is suspected of such cheating can only be examined if the offending team has been awarded a penalty or it has contributed to an opposing player being sent off.
Following an incident, each of the three appointed panel members will be asked to review footage of it independently of the other two.
Their verdict must be unanimous for a charge to be issued.
Should the charge be admitted, or denied and later found proven by an independent regulatory commission, the guilty player would receive a two-match suspension.
The FA’s rationale for the punishment is that although feigning injury and simulation is a cautionable offence when detected by the match officials, successfully deceiving those officials to secure a penalty and/or dismissal justifies a more severe sanction.
In the event that a charge is admitted or denied and later found proven, the independent regulatory commission shall consider whether or not to rescind an associated caution or dismissal received by an opposing player as a result of the simulation.
We’ll get a look at his VR might work in our game from the 3rd Round of the FA Cup where it will be active.

Someone should explain to Phil Thompson that with 5 Centre Backs in Azpi, Christensen, Rudiger, Cahill and Luiz plus really promising youngsters already in the first squad and already getting some game time like Ampadu who looks a real prospect and Clarke Salter the last position Chelsea need to be focussed on strengthening is the Centre Back area.
The Sun predict that Real are prepared to make an opening bid of £120m for Hazard a decent opening bid if true which will surely go higher and hopefully ultimately might include someone like Asensio.
Having said all that hopefully Zidane gets the white hankies and Hazard has a change of mind and signs an extended contract at Chelsea or Real blow all their dough on Neymar.?

…tbh Jim your players have been on the end of some bad tackles recently and there should be more protection from the officials. Puncheon should have been a retrospective red card but Moss gave him a yellow so he’s got away with it as should the Kane and Alli tackles been red cards and until it’s stamped on by the officials it will continue.

Jim, awful tackle should have been a red but Kane can’t tackle.

I think Kane’s tackle was just poorly timed he’s not that sort player Alli on the other hand is and Refs need to take these things into account. Refs have to start protecting the ball playing players teams shouldn’t be allowed to try and kick them out of the game.

Ref’s are human and make mistakes always have always will.
It’s easy for us to be right if we don’t have to take a decision in seconds and can watch the incident from several different angles over and over and in slo mo.

Pep has confirmed that there will be internal meetings at City to decide on a move for Sanchez or not following the injuries to Jesus and KDB.
Sounds like it may now happen in January to me.

Nil, Liverpool’s net spend under Klopp is currently £108 m according to This is Anfield add Keita to that at circa £60m and that takes the net spend to circa £170m even with the extra CL money and TV money following a loss of £19m in Liverpool’s last accounts and given the FFP rules it looks to me like Liverpool would need to make some significant sales out to balance the books a bit as well as putting themselves in a position to strengthen in one or two other areas in the Summer.
