Hightown, the Express are running with a story that Coutinho is on strike? If the agreement was that he could go in January that might be understandable otherwise it makes sense for everyone if he goes in the Summer he can’t play for Barca in the CL and Barca have all but won La Liga without him whilst he could still make a real contribution to Liverpool’s season.
Having said that if his head is already at Barca it probably make sense to come to a sensible agreement and let him go just as Southampton did with VVD.
Strange move by Nike who are a very professional company someone somewhere must have told them the deal was done and they jumped the gun.

To be fair goat I don’t think anyone at Stoke wanted to sell Arnautuvic but according to Hughes it became “irredeemable”.

Pwy, good point but Owners and Boards panic on the back of such a run with relegation beckoning which is why the majority of the changes happen at the bottom end of the table.
Seemingly the Stoke fans have turned against Hughes too which is never a good sign.
Allegedly Stoke want a British Manager which if true reduces the field considerably ironically short term Pullis could probably have stopped the rot but he’s off the market now.

Especially at Stoke!?
SSN’s report that the Board are considering the future of Mark Hughes. Sounds like he’s on his way.

Good news if true!
According to Marca, via the Daily Mail, Real Madrid are intending to drop their approach for Chelseaโs Eden Hazard in favour of giving Marco Asensio a more prominent role within Zidaneโs squad.
It is being reported that the Madrid board are eager to see Asensio establishing himself as one of the clubโs leading talents, and an approach for Eden Hazard would serve to negate Asensioโs progress at the Spanish club.
The Premier League champions have been keen to extend Hazardโs contract at Stamford Bridge, and his father recently revealed that the 26-year-old had rejected Chelseaโs latest proposal.
Nonetheless, if the latest reports are correct, then it seems that Hazard will be at the club for the foreseeable future which will serve as excellent news to the Chelsea faithful.
The former Lille forward has played an instrumental role in winning two Premier League titles in the previous three seasons for the club.

“Listen do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell woh woh woh closer
Let me whisper in your ear” ?I hate to think how many issues are going to come out of three games between Arsenal and Chelsea across just 21 days.?

Jim, as I said above “there should be a process to convert yellow cards to red cards when they are deserved as I believe Puncheonโs tackle was”. Cheers 999

Jim, I’m not defending the current review system and have said it doesn’t work and needs amending to make it work and I also said earlier that City have been on the end of some bad tackles in the last few weeks and I also said that Puncheon’s tackle should have been a red card and that there should be a process to convert yellow cards to red cards when they are deserved as I believe Puncheon’s tackle was.
I didn’t want to get into an elongated discussion on the Ben Thatcher clash with Mendes as it happened over 10 years ago, imo is incomparable to the Puncheon tackle and I only raised it in connection to Pagans point about changing yellow cards to red cards as that was the only time I can remember any further punishment to a yellow card that deserved more.
And No I don’t work for the FA. So I’ll leave it there now!!!!!

Pagan, league positions have to be decided by football and not points deductions imo but let’s not spend too much time debating it because that’s never going to happen.
One step at a time the current new rules need to be working and are in need of tweaking at least to reflect a majority decision rather than a unanimous decision.

Jim, before the new rules there was no retrospective punishment for diving to try and win a penalty and diving which leads to another player getting sent off.
It’s not working effectively yet but it has to be a step in the right direction albeit it would be much more effective if the FA changed the decision from unanimous to majority.

Jim, let’s not go there mate Thatcher’s challenge was one of the worst ever and could have done Mendez permanent damage he had to be administered oxygen on the pitch and had a seizure.
Even City banned Thatcher for 6 games on top of the FA ban. Completely incomparable to the Puncheon challenge on KDB which still should have been a red card and a 3 game ban.

Jim, they are only reviewing dives for a penalty and dives which result in a player getting sent off.
It’s pointless to highlight other dives in other situations they are not part of the new rules.

Jim, I’m not sure that’s true mate several diving investigations have been judged 2-1 against the diver but he couldn’t be punished because of the unanimous decision rule convert that to a majority decision and a lot more will end up being punished.

Pagan, agree with that mate Puncheon’s yellow card should be converted to Red but I guess understandably the Football authorities are loathe to re Ref games.
It happened with Ben Thatcher whose four arm smash originally got him a yellow card which was latter extended to a 6 match ban by the FA but that was such an extreme challenge.

1st January 2018 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Let's try and help Referees once and for all with realistic ideas/solutions #10780Of course the problem with VR is that we will have different rules controlling football because due to costs if it is eventually adopted it’s unlikely to go down to all of the divisions.
Goal line technology doesn’t hit the Championship for instance until next season.

Pagan, the panel is always made up of one ex Ref, one ex Manager and one ex player.
This is the first season of attempting to punish diving in the box to get a penalty awarded and diving to get a player sent off it’s not working perfectly at the moment but you can’t go from nothing to wanting every aspect of trying to decieve the Referee covered it has to start somewhere and become effective first before you roll it out into other areas.
I think if the unanimous decision was changed to a majority decision we would see a lot more players being charged.
