Sean, very frustrating from a Chelsea viewpoint because as you say it was a game Chelsea should have won.
I also thought Bakayoko should have come off for Drinkwater rather than Cesc.
A draw at the Emirates is a decent result but it felt a bit like a defeat last night.

4th January 2018 at 12:24 am in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #10998Conte on the game:βIt was an exciting game for the people who watch,β began Conte before adding, βless so for us because when you are winning 2-1 and there are two minutes to go, we have to win the game, especially against a great team like Arsenal. A 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Emirates could be a good result but after the game there is a lot of disappointment because we created important chances.
βFor sure I know also in my players there is a lot of disappointment and for sure my feeling is the same as my players. It was a good performance and we played with good intensity, like Arsenal did and it was an exciting game, but at the same time we must be a bit disappointed with the final result because to get three points today was very important.β
Conte on Morata: βThis is not a lucky period for him because at the last game versus Stoke I said it is very important for the striker to have the chance to score, and here today he had chances to score but it is football. I am very happy for his commitment and his effort for the team, this is the most important for me but for the striker it is important to score because then your confidence is up. In this case his confidence can do down but he is very young and he has to continue to work to improve and he will see that the goal is coming.
βThe only things I can tell him are to stay calm and continue to work in this way for the team because then the chances will arrive for him and for the other players. This is the first season he is playing with regularity. He has to stay calm and to continue to play in this way and the goal is coming.β

Seconded Jim although I suspect Barca and Real given their stature and geography will always hold away with South American players.

4th January 2018 at 12:16 am in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #10996Wfan,Morata and Costa are two very different players although Morata is definitely off his game and missed too many chances tonight and that is something he has got to work on and his confidence is down too which is something Conte needs to work on.
14 goals and 4 assists in 32 games is not too shabby though and compares favourably with Costa’s 20 goals and 7 assists from 42 games last season.
The one positive in respect of Morata is that he’s still getting himself into positions to score.
Chelsea’s 19 shots v Arsenal’s 14 shots also suggests Chelsea did a bit more than defend and defend.

3rd January 2018 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #10938Shouldn’t be like this though imo players shouldn’t be playing two games in three days.
All the major Leagues in Europe are on a mid season break even the SPL are on a mid season break.
It’s no wonder our teams often struggle in the latter stages of the CL.

Best for all if Coutinho stays until the end of season but we don’t know what was promised to him in the Summer.
However if he doesn’t want to be there and if Barca make an acceptable offer Liverpool need to do what Southampton did and move on.

If I was a Stoke fan I think I would prefer to stick to Mark Hughes if the choices were Curbishley and Warnock.
Curbishley hasn’t had a job for almost 10 years and Warnock is much more comfortable than in the Championship.
Maybe Championship experience would be useful though.?

Can’t see Rodgers taking the Stoke role I think his ego might get in the way of taking it on be a great challenge though.
