Circa £140m for Coutinho leaves Liverpool with potentially another £65m to spend after funding the VVD fee.

Barkley is 24 and a full England international and home grown and at circa £15m he’s a great signing imo.

Chelsea can’t compete with the likes of City and United nowdays in respect of spending and have to be smarter in the transfer market.

SSN’s confirm that Barkley had a medical last night and Conte confirms that Chelsea are close to signing Barkley.

Taking all of the above into account imo
he fits the bill re being smarter in the transfer market. 5th or 6th highest on the assist list last season too.

Courtois was outstanding v Arsenal and it would be very difficult to replace him with someone of similar quality whilst Hazard would be virtually impossible to replace.

Be interesting to see the team selections because previously Klopp has selected weakened line ups for FA Cup games.

I would say this season subject to the draws being reasonably favourable Liverpool have a great chance of winning the FA Cup and it’s their best chance of winning a trophy if Klopp selects strong teams.

Everton have the ability under Allardyce to frustrate Liverpool but I doubt they’ve got enough attack wise to beat them.

Straightforward Liverpool win for me providing Klopp selects a reasonably strong team.

I’m really not sure about FA Cup ties being played on a Friday night though it’s more than a tad unfair to the match going away fans albeit this game being a local Derby avoids that problem but unfortunately football dances to the TV companies tune “he who pays the piper” and I can see why a Friday night game appeals to them.

Refs are human and will make mistakes with decisions that they get to make in seconds that we all get to analyse 100 times from every angle and in slo mo over and over.

Mistakes by officials have always been there the difference is that every game is now covered by TV and all of the mistakes are over amplified and over shown including all the controversial moments that appear every 30 minutes on Sky Sports News.

Very left of field but a fit Andy Carroll would give Chelsea something different and he could dovetail well with Morata imo. Carroll would certainly give Chelsea a plan B.
