Pagan, as you know very well mate all players want to play in the CL so it doesn’t hang together for me mate there again I’m not close enough to know what’s really going on at Chelsea to form an accurate view.

442, it was a really poor performance but to be fair down to 10 men I thought the Chelsea players showed a decent level of commitment for a large part of the second half.
I don’t know whether Conte has lost the players or not I think you would have to be inside the club and close to the first team squad to know that.
I know there are parralels being drawn about what happened with Mourinho and whats happening now under Conte but in the Mourinho example Chelsea were 4th from the bottom not 4th from the top.
Of the starting eleven last night of Courtois,Azpi,Luiz,Cahill,Moses,Kante,Bakayoko Zappacosta, Pedro,Hazard and Willian 6 were there at the time of the collapse under Mourinho and I wouldn’t write it off completely for certain there are a lot of players not playing to their potential currently.
It doesn’t make sense to me for players the majority of whom will be at Chelsea next season to say “let’s stop playing to get the Manager out” at the same time risking a chance of competing in the CL next season. But as I said who really knows. Cheers 999

Chucky, not looking for any sympathy mate we are where we are and it’s all of our own making and if it all ended tomorrow I would still die a happy man.
I never expected to see Chelsea win a PL Title yet I’ve seen them win 5 of them , I never expected to see Chelsea competing in the CL all but every season for the best part of 20 years let alone win the Champions League and then there’s been all the trips to Cup Finals and Cups won.
Sympathy?
There’s lots that would give their left b*****k to have enjoyed what we have mate.?

Terrible terrible day for Manchester United and the whole of football.
RIP all those who died and have died subsequently and my thoughts go out to all of the families and those who have had to live with this tragedy for the whole of their lives like Bobby Charlton and Harry Gregg.

Chucky, you’re right it really all comes down to the fact that Chelsea have bought badly and seemingly the majority of the buys weren’t Conte’s.
In summary from a position of strength and being PL Champions we’ve messed up big time but that’s Chelsea for you! ?
ps take away the pancakes from the porridge and all you’re left with net is a little bit of maple syrup.?

Paxton, you can’t add the gross spend to the net spend and come up with £240m mate.? Take away Spurs net spend from Chelsea’s net spend and the difference is £27m.

I agree Paxton £200m is a significant spend but how many of those players were Conte’s choice and whose buying them?
Also it’s worth remembering that the actual spend was £40m net and that £100m of that £200m came from the sale of Costa and Matic both of whom were integral to last season’s title win.

ppt, It was pretty well known prior to Conte’s appointment how the club operated on transfers had Conte been offered control of transfers and then not been given it he would have caused for complaint and given how he’s so vociferously complained recently I think it’s unlikely that he would have been backwards and coming forwards in saying what he was promised is not what he’s getting but of course none of us really know what was and wasn’t discussed/ agreed so it’s just an educated guess based on everything known about Chelsea’s policy on transfers previously and how Conte reacted previously.
Has Abramovich lost interest because he doesn’t go to games anymore? Who knows mate his Box is there and sadly I don’t get there every week so I don’t know when he’s there and when he isn’t he did pen a full page communique to Chelsea fans just last week and he is committed to building a new 60,000 Stadium which his just getting underway. But even if Abramovich had lost interest in Chelsea his impact on the club is very limited now financially. As far as I know Abramovich watches every Chelsea game from wherever he is in the world. Sean, all of the current problems stem from the disagreements over transfer policy which is surprising given that both parties at the beginning of this relationship went into it with their eyes wide open with Conte knowing he wouldn’t have full control over transfer policy before he joined and Chelsea knowing about the reasons for his fall out with Juventus when Conte resigned as manager of Juve in 2015 after a clash with the Juventus hierarchy over transfer policy, a feud Italian Federation President Carlo Tavecchio confirmed in an interview.
“Juve and Conte didn’t have a good relationship. He has a very strong personality, and things were complicated by an economic dispute between him and the club.”Conte accepted the role at Chelsea knowing that he wouldn’t have a full say on transfers but I don’t think that ever sat happily with him then in winning the title last season he felt empowered to push for much greater control on transfers with Chelsea offering him a new and much more lucrative extended contract this ended in Conte accepting the more lucrative contract but refusing the extension because he couldn’t get his way on transfers.
Since then as you point out “he hasn’t stopped moaning” about the situation in almost every broadcast press conference criticising the Owner/Board and just like in any other business if you criticise your employer’s constantly in public it’s not going to end well.
On the one hand I’m sympathetic to Conte’s point of view but on the other hand the club didn’t want him signing a number of Italian older player like Bonucci for lots of money and then moving on plus there have been previous concerns at Board level as to how the likes of Salah and De Bruyne were allowed to leave the club based on the Mangers decision.
For me the best solution would be to give Conte greater control on transfers and appoint a replacement for Emenalo as Technical Director with gravitas asap capable of working in tandem with Conte but I think it’s probably gone too far now and it’s not fixable, the loss of key players to injury hasn’t helped Conte or the the sale of Costa and Matic alongside all of this and the team looked a shambles last night and for £40m Bakayoko has been less than poor.
Personally given Chelsea’s forthcoming tough run of fixtures I think things may get worse now before they get better albeit when everyone is fit one to eleven in calmer waters than Chelsea are sailing in currently they are a match for almost anyone in the PL.
I don’t think Chelsea will make a CL place this season now which will have a negative impact on who the club can sign in the Summer no matter who the Manager is and what say he has on transfers.
Worrying times ahead if you’re a Chelsea fan.
Thankfully I’ve still got the World tiddlywinks Championships to look forward to!?

442, welcome mate good to see you posting on here.
Re the new Bridge 43,000 to 60,000 is not a massive jump and a lot of the increased capacity is put aside for Corporate.
I don’t think we’ll have any problems filling the Stadium given the above providing we maintain a reasonably competitive team but a long way to go before the Ground is available and only time will tell. Cheers 999

Nil, take a few days off and have a good think mate.
The Ed has your best interest at heart and has cut you plenty of slack but you need to stop giving him these sorts of problems with your outbursts it’s not good for you, it’s not good for the site and the Ed could do without it all too.
There is a good group of lads on here and you’re held in great fondness by all and the last thing the Ed wants to do I’m sure is to suspend you or even worse end up banning you for good.
Help him and yourself out Nil and try turn over a new leaf and when the red mist descends lock the computer away and rant away on a piece of paper to yourself and then come back on the next day with it all forgotten. Cheers 999

I’ve had time to digest the result too and it was a good result for Chelsea if we can get our Arsenal’s in gear and Chelsea play to their real ability, take 3 points at Watford and Conte keeps stum for a day or two!

Enjoyed the England game but they’ll have to step it up next week. Simmonds looks a real find.

Refs and linesmen get a lot of stick but replays prove that Moss and Short got both penalty decisions right with great communication between the two of them.

You can’t afford to gift Liverpool chances as Dier did with players like Salah on the pitch.
