Ed, given the way Bakayoko has been playing I can understand why you might think that.?

But given how outspoken Conte has been on everything I think it unlikely that he wouldn’t have thrown that into the mix too if that was what really was happening also could you have seen Mourinho accepting being told who he should and shouldn’t play during his tenures?

With so many Managers who have come and gone at Chelsea a number with axes to grind following their departure if that was really happening someone would have said something about it imo. Cheers 999

Some interesting views tbh I think Alfie is pretty much spot on with his analysis and I’m not sure that it’s all the club’s fault this time around.

When Conte joined Chelsea the club knew what his background was and that he could get into a strop over not having control of transfers because that’s what happened at Juve and Conte knew that Chelsea operated with a DOF and he wouldn’t have a full and final say on transfers before he joined and that wasn’t a problem until this Summer when empowered by the title win and Chelsea offering him a new and lucrative contract he unveiled his hand of requiring a much bigger say/ control of transfers which Chelsea weren’t prepared to grant him and it’s been an escalating problem ever since.

Ed I don’t believe any Chelsea Manager has ever been told who they can and cannot play which is supported by what a number of ex Chelsea Managers have confirmed since leaving and in Autobiographies.

You can’t go in front of the assembled media and TV cameras every week as Conte has and criticise your employer’s and expect to get away with it nobody least of all Roman is going to stand for that and if you regularly take on the owner in front of the massed media and the TV Cameras it’s only ever going to end one way and imo Conte has set light to his own bridges and watched them burn and is now in a process of ensuring he walks out with as much compensation as he possibly can hence his latest outpourings.

Great Coach who came in and was a breath of fresh air to the PL introducing a completely different style of play that drove Chelsea to an unlikely PL title but imo it’s now when he goes and not if he goes and personally I’m not sure it’s helpful to either party to hang it out.

Chucky, Bale from Southampton to Spurs to Real. Salary or ambition? Bale obviously earned a lot more from both moves and whilst I’m sure it was important ambition was probably his greatest motivation.

Chucky’s point was re the current Chelsea players was “it’s not as though many of them didn’t jump ship quick enough to sign on to HMS Chelsea… ”

As I said swap HMS Chelsea for HMS Spurs and the same will apply to all the Spurs players bar Harry Kane and he may eventually go too.

Players have a short career and if a bigger club comes in for them ie Hazard at Lille and offers them better opportunities to as Chelsea did for Hazard to A) be more successful and B) earn more money they will likely move on whether that club is Chelsea, Spurs or Shrewsbury.

It’s the way the game is and to a certain extent always has been. Dalglish from Celtic to Liverpool for instance and Coutinho from Inter to Liverpool to Barca.

Mav, I wouldn’t rule it out mate Guus has been there before knows the club and is close to Roman. But he is 71 now and even until the end of the season it’s still a very intensity role especially for a 71 year old.

Tbh I will be surprised now if Conte makes the end of the season but it’s a results based business and if he gets some wins under his belt he could survive until the Summer but it’s just a matter of when now imo.

Alfie, I think you’re right and getting to the end of the season won’t be easy if it is indeed achieved.

A couple of old boys until the end of the season might work I saw a suggestion of Jody Morris who has successfully Coached the youth and is still at the club. Maybe Vialli with Wise love Frank but I think he might be too close to a lot of the current players. Cheers 999
