Sounds a bit messy Ed I still think Poch is United’s best option. I think United need to make a proper long term appointment from the Summer.

Yeah we all win some and lose some Sean. The VAR’s are all humans and unfortunately humans do make mistakes.

“Manchester United are beginning to step up their search for a new manager, with reports claiming that former Real Madrid chief Julen Lopetegui is on a four-man shortlist alongside long-term candidates Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who is currently head coach of the Spanish national team, is also under consideration for the role.” Express 25/01
Interesting? Can’t see Enrique not taking Spain to the World Cup Finals though.

No you’re right Sean although the loss of both wing backs has been a significant problem it’s not been the only problem. I’ve still got my fingers and toes crossed for my predicted 3rd place finish though.🤞

Sean, defending is Alonso weakest point his strength is going forwards.
Wing backs have been an integral part of Chelsea’s tactical approach losing one for the rest of the season and another for 8 weeks has had a significant impact on Chelsea tactically it is bad luck and like everyone else who suffers long term injuries Chelsea have had to just get on with it but playing Pulasic and Hudson Odoi as wing backs has demonstrated how short Chelsea are in that area.
Jamie Redknapp commented yesterday on how the loss of TAA for a long period of time would have damaged Liverpool but it’s all about opinions.

Sean, do you really think that losing Robertson for the season and TAA for 8 weeks both at the same time wouldn’t have have an impact on Liverpool??????
Chelsea might have a large squad but Alonso is way below the level of Chilwell and there is not a natural replacement for James.
You as a Liverpool fan should appreciate the impact that the loss of one or two key players can have on a season given the experiences of last season.

There were other injuries from that period too Ed and Kante has been in an out mainly out for a lot of the season. Chilwell has been a significant loss since the 23/11 and Alonso is not a reliable replacement.
Chelsea tactics to date has been based on attacking wing backs and Chelsea lost one in Chilwell who was on the top of his form then another in James the combination of the two at the time placed them up there with some of the best wing back combinations in Europe imo had that not happened I think Chelsea would have been in a better PL position than they are now that’s just my opinion Ed which is seemingly consistent with the vast majority of Chelsea fans.
Once James is back and fully match fit and if Chelsea are able to sign a reliable replacement for Chilwell in January I think they will kick on from there and hopefully finish 3rd but time will tell.

Sean, talk to any Chelsea fan and they will tell you that there’s no comparison between Alonso and Chilwell who was playing out of his skin at the time of his injury and has been a massive miss since his injury made worse by the injury to James.

Spurs in reality are probably 2/3 players short of being a top 4 team but you never know if they win their games in hand or indeed make a couple of signings between now and the end of the January transfer window. They are also missing Son and will be stronger on his return I certainly wouldn’t write them off.
Spurs were unbeaten in the PL under Conte and yesterday was their first loss in 10 PL games personally I was worried about this game as winning 3 games in less than a month against the same opposition is no easy task. Conte has done a good job at Spurs but if he’s not supported in the transfer market it will likely all end in tears.

I think the back 4 with Sarr as left back suits Chelsea in the absence on Chilwell and James but once James is fit and if Chelsea maybe find a back up solution to Chilwell in the January transfer window I can see Chelsea returning to their favoured wing back formation.
The loss of Chilwell and James imo are the major reasons for Chelsea’s decline in form wing backs are an integral part of Chelsea’s play if for instance Liverpool lost both TAA and Robertson at the same time it would probably effect them similarly.

Much improved performance by Chelsea v midweek, hell of a goal by Ziyech and thankfully 3 important points.

There was no way City were going to go through to the end of the season winning every game all teams will drop points between now and the end of the season.

Foden will have got his ear bent at ht as will a few others you would expect City to be slicker in the 2nd half.

Nil, it’s the humans that operate VAR that occasionally get it wrong.
