I think we have to take into account that yesterday’s England team was at last half a dozen players short of what the team will be in the opening game of the World Cup.

“The FA will charter 100 buses from Anfield and the Etihad Stadium, respectively, to Wembley Stadium and back. This will ensure that up to 5,000 Liverpool and Manchester City supporters will be able to travel to Wembley Stadium free of charge for their semi-final tie.”
Good gesture by the FA.

I see on the Liverpool site some are conjecturing Liverpool getting Β£100m plus for Salah?
Getting Β£100m/Β£100m plus for Salah if he eventually leaves Liverpool as good as he is at 30 in June he will have a limited sell on value which makes Β£100m plus optimistic imo.
The big buyers from Spain are now limited Iβm not sure who would bid Β£100m/Β£100m plus for Salah.
Best option for both parties is a compromise agreement and Salah staying at Liverpool time will tell though.
I will be disappointed if Salah is lost to the PL heβs such a great watch.

Sean, I was responding to Nil’s post which included the PL table of 10/2 which showed Liverpool 12 points behind with 2 games in hand. Credit to Liverpool they won the 2 games in hand and have continued to win and with City dropping points v Spurs and v Palace Liverpool have done amazingly well to keep winning reducing the defecit to 1 point.
The PL is too close to call now imo but because of the one point difference, the game between City and Liverpool being at the Etihad, and City having what seems like the easier run in City remain favourites.
But I wouldn’t put any money on either of them as I can’t decide where the title might be going although I think whoever wins at the Etihad will probably go on to win it. Cheers 9’s

Mikus, Liverpool’s front 5 players are incredibly strong probably the best in Europe and they can almost perm any 3 from 5.
Diaz could be the signing that wine Liverpool the title bringing him in in January was a masterstroke.

I think whoever wins the City v Liverpool game will probably go on to win the title such a big win at this stage of the season would give either side a huge boost in their quest for the title and whilst it won’t definitely be over for whoever loses it would be very tough to come back from.

Sean.the table on this thread dated 10/2 shows Liverpool 12 points behind with 2 games in hand the City draw with Southampton was on the 21/1 and pre dates the table on the 10/2.

I’m not sure there’s too much difference between the the Liverpool and City squads currently City might have a slight edge in a couple of areas but up front Liverpool now look the strongest particularly after the signing of Diaz.
It’s nip and tuck between now and the end of the season and difficult to predict a winner.
I think the table above with a 12 point advantage to City painted a slightly false picture because Liverpool had 2 games in hand then which if they won and to their credit they did would reduce the gap to 6 points City then inexplicably slipped up by losing to Spurs and drawing with Palace when they should have taken 4 points instead of 1 which has reduced their lead to 1 point.
City remain favourite due to their 1 point difference, the City v Liverpool game being at the Etihad and the fact that they have the easier run in.
Personally right now I wouldn’t feel confident putting my 50p on either of them!

Nil, you suggested that the next couple of England games was just to create revenue to help pay for Wembley but the international breaks are written into the football calendar by FIFA every nation is playing games during this break those not participating in play offs are all playing friendlies.
Only 8 months until the World Cup Finals that has to be prepared for.
Liverpool wouldn’t start a PL campaign without a series of friendlies to prepare for it.
“Wembley in essence should only showcase an actual final and not the semis in my view.”
I don’t disagree with that Nil but the fact is the FA have said from the outset that FA Cup Semi Finals will all be played at Wembley and currently I can’t see that changing and I fully expect City v Liverpool to be staged at Wembley but we’ll see.

Nil,it’s an international break for two weeks for everyone that’s got nothing to do with Wembley and the need for revenues.
Any Club involved in all competitions at this stage of the season will always have a heavy fixture schedule.

Sean, I don’t disagree Sean but it’s not going to happen it’s the FA’s own Cup and they need to recoup as much as they can towards the cost of rebuilding the new Wembley.
The argument that Wembley should only stage the Final has been put forward since 2007 but the FA won’t give way on Wembley being used for both Semi Finals every season

I’m sure both Semi Finals will be played at Wembley I suspect the City v Liverpool game will go ahead on the Saturday.
The rail problems over the weekend are more than unfortunate but Talksport claim that will only affect a total of 15,000 fans who planned to travel by Train. It’s not ideal but not insurmountable with extra Coaches and travelling by Car.
I get that playing the Semi Finals at Wembley is not ideal for fans in the North this subject even without that weekends rail problems has been discussed previously but Wembley is the National Stadium it still has to be paid for and the plan was always to play FA Cup Semi Finals at Wembley as they have been since the new Wembley was opened in 2007.

Good effort by Forest. City v Liverpool then it’s not easy to call a winner of that one.

City v Liverpool or Forest
Chelsea v PalaceFrom a Chelsea perspective it won’t be easy v Palace but I would have gladly taken Palace over potentially Liverpool or City.
