Sean, Tuchel has only purchased one player in Lukaku and he was second choice after chasing and being unable to capture Haaland unfortunately Lukaku didn’t work out but 64 goals in 2 seasons suggested it might. Glad to see the back of Lukaku tbh terrible attitude.
Saul was a one year loan signing bought in as a squad player and never looked like the player I previously watched at Atletico.
Personally I would like to see Broja in the Chelsea squad as a plan b this season but we’ll see.
Hopefully a more successful transfer market for Chelsea this Summer once we finally get started.π Cheers 9’s

I’m not sure Woodward’s record on transfer successes would get him an interview Ed. π

You’re right Brian not a chance of James going to City he’s still got 3 years left on his contract and is one of the home produced jewels in Chelsea’s crown.

Chelsea Football Club today announced that Bruce Buck, who has served as Chairman since 2003, will be stepping down from his role effective 30 June. He will continue to support the Club as a Senior Advisor.
During Buckβs chairmanship, Chelsea solidified its position as one of the worldβs elite football clubs and a globally recognised brand followed by millions. In that time, the menβs team earned 18 major trophies (more than any other English club) while Chelsea FC Women won 12 major trophies. The Club also grew its commercial revenues significantly, established world class training facilities at Cobham, and developed one of the best youth academies in football. In 2010, Buck, as Trustee and Chairman, helped establish The Chelsea FC Foundation, which supports a broad range of initiatives including increasing access to youth athletics, hosting education and employment programmes, and leading anti-discrimination campaigns.
‘I am proud to have helped Chelsea realize great success on the pitch and make a positive impact in the community,’ said Buck. ‘Now is the right time to step down and let new ownership build on the strong foundations we have in place. The owners have a compelling vision for Chelseaβs future, and I look forward to helping them achieve it in this new role alongside our incredible staff, players, coaches and supporters.’
‘Bruce has led Chelsea Football Club to the highest levels of international and domestic football, while also developing one of the most active social responsibility projects in sport,’ said Todd Boehly, Chelsea Football Club co-controlling owner. ‘We thank Bruce for his service and his commitment to the Club.’

“According to multiple reports in Italy, Romelu Lukaku will complete his return to Inter today as the Nerazzurri and Chelsea will hold a new, decisive meeting.
The Belgian striker pushed to return to Inter after a disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel. According to the primary Italian media, thereβs no doubt heβll wear the Nerazzurri shirt again in 2022-23.
Il Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport claim that the strikerβs return to Inter is virtually a done deal but add that the two clubs will reach a final agreement today.
According to Gazzetta, Inter President Steven Zhang will try to lower Chelseaβs request, but the Serie A giants are expected to welcome the striker back on a β¬10m loan plus β¬2m add-ons.
Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances during his two-year spell with the Nerazzurri between 2019 and 2021. He returned to Chelsea in a β¬113m deal a year ago but only managed 15 goals in 44 appearances under Tuchel.”
Dreadful business but Chelsea have to take it on the chin and move him out whatever the loss.

“Sterling for me has a lot of miles on the clock. I think personally, heβd be a good fit for Arsenal because of their more attacking and fluid style of play. Not sure about Chelsea; ” Nil, despite Chelsea’s various problems last season they scored 15 more goals than Arsenal and completely dominated nearly every game so I’m not sure the above completely hangs together. All that aside I think Sterling will be looking to sign for a CL Club which Arsenal aren’t. Where Sterling finally ends up is impossible to guess I’m sure though City would prefer not to sell him to a PL rival. Time will tell only one year on his contract could be a deciding factor though.

Think City will sign a replacement for Fernandinho and a left back and then they will be good to go again.

Mane was one of my favourite PL players Sean except when he was scoring against Chelsea etc. Be interesting to see how Liverpool adapt to his departure.

“Financial Fair Play is starting to get some teeth and that will limit ability to acquire players at any price.
“UEFA takes it seriously and will continue to take it seriously. [More teeth] means financial penalties and disqualification from competitions.” Todd Boehly.

Be interesting to see how Liverpool cope with the loss of Mane he’s been consistently a star performer for them every season. Nunez is an interesting signing but quite a different one for Liverpool and it’s one in one out rather than an addition to the squad.

If City really have an alleged retrospective problem with FFP what they may do now with player sales to help balance the books will only help them in the future not retrospectively.
Interestingly Todd Boehly commented a couple of days ago about UEFA’s FFP rules going forwards becoming more stringent.

I would throw Potter’s name into the mix for England too but again I doubt he would want it currently either.

Southgate on 4 nil Hungary defeat.
“We picked a young team with energy and when the game started to go against them it started to look that way. That’s my responsibility in the end. I thought at half-time we needed to go for the game.
“We made changes that gave us a little bit more of an attacking impetus but then we were a little bit more open as well and, in the end, you’re pushing and we’ve got so many attacking players on the pitch that we left ourselves wide open.
“So I’ve just said to the players there that across the four match that’s my responsibility. I tried to balance looking at new players, tried to rest players that we couldn’t keep flogging our more experienced and better players but, in the end, the teams I’ve selected haven’t been strong enough to get the results in the two Hungary games.”

Terrible performance and result Southgate will take us to Qatar and I suspect be gone not long afterwards. Whoever was in charge England wouldn’t win the World Cup. Where England go after Southgate’s is anyone’s guess it’s certainly not with Dyche imo Howe is an option maybe but I doubt he would want it and we would probably need to cast our net further afield.

Bissouma only had one year left on his contract too which would have played a part in his price. Football wise he’s a very good signing by Spurs.

Haaland is an out and out goal scorer I will be surprised if he doesn’t hit the ground running. Frightening to think what City might have won in the last couple of seasons with Haaland in the team thankfully he wasn’t.π

To be fair Adlab Haaland was a bargain due to his buy out clause seemingly he has a Β£128m buy out clause in his City contract that can be activated in 2 years time. No fly’s on him.π
