Nil, I don’t have any problems with anyone not being a fan of international football.
FIFA extended the international breaks to 2 weeks to fit in more games in that 2 week period in order to condense the number of breaks in one season and it applies to all Leagues.
My point really is that international football is not going to go away, the players want to play for their countries and take part in World Cups and there has to be an acceptance of that.
Like you though I’m looking forward to the return of the PL next Saturday. π

Nil, the Nations League was conceived as a step up from friendlies and it fulfills that objective imo.
Your only interest in international football is to watch England in a major tournament into the second phase but that can’t be achieved be it England or anyone else without there are games to prepare for that. Before the Nations League it was friendlies now it’s the Nations League.
International football existed even before the Football League did and it’s not going to go away and players want to play for their Countries and play in the World Cup. You need to come to terms with that.
Anyway look on the bright side the PL is back next week with Arsenal v Spurs and City v United both live on TV .π

Didn’t realise that as well as Toney, Guehi, Henderson and Chilwell were all left behind. Down to a maximum squad of 23, hopefully Toney features v Germany.

I think City should do the decent thing and gift us Pep ahead of Qatar. π

Nil, the Nations League replaces friendlies if there wasn’t a Nations League we would still be playing friendlies on the same dates.

“We were very poor tonight. One game before the WC and not looking good.”
The perfect summary from Adlab above realistically we were never going to win the World Cup but I was hopeful of progress in the competition but based on our current form and Southgate’s tactics that looks unlikely now.
I don’t understand the point of calling up Toney and then not even putting him on the bench or when we’re chasing the game only making 2 substitutions bring on Abraham play with 2 strikers and see what happens Southgate is too risk adverse.
I can’t see Southgate going past this World Cup we have enough good players to play better than we are.

Never trust the pundits Brian Pickford will do well to be in goal he’s not in the squad.π

Kane has only one year left on his contract from June 2023 and can sign a pre contract agreement with a European Club the following January. Why would Kane leave Spurs it’s not as if he’s tried to force his way out previously however if Conte commits himself to Spurs past June 2023 I can see Kane doing the same.

That’s it Lucky add to that Allegri is in trouble, that Juve are Conte’s Club and that his Wife and Daughter still live in Turin and you can understand the speculation which has now reached the British media today.
But it would go away if Conte was commited to Spurs past June 2023.
Any return to Juve though would be complicated by Conte’s less than perfect relationship with Andrea Agnelli.

Conte still not committing to Spurs past June 2023 when his contract runs out means until he does he will be linked with every big job that becomes available.

Brian,re Grealish “media hype again and the he is perfectly happy and prepared to work hard and fit with Cityβs style of play.” Seems closer to the truth to me?
I was very impressed with Grealish’s England interview today on SSN and he came across as very happy at City and glad to be there.
City paid over the odds for him for sure but that was because of the buy out clause in his contract and there was nothing City could do about that other than walk away. I thought Grealish had a good game v Wolves.

“Seems odd to me tho but shows how few strikers are out there.” True enough buddie and even fewer who are unattached to a Club which is what Wolves needed as the transfer window had closed when Sasa Kalajdzic sustained a knee ligament injury on his debut.

Costa loved playing against Arsenal Stevo.π If he’s not playing for your team he’s hated.
Wolves had to take a chance on him given their situation, however long time out with no football played.
I’m sure he’s still got the capacity to be a “Hateful knobber!” though.π

Big win for Frank yesterday who seems to have built up a very good relationship with the Everton faithful. A real chance he can steer them to safety this season.
Very good win for Arsenal who look certainties for a top 4 place this season.
Wonderful ball from Xhaka for the Jesus goal._____________________________

Nil, yeah I get it mate I think we all miss the domestic game when it’s not there. Hopefully we see a couple of good England games over the next couple of weeks to help compensate.π

Nil, International teams can’t just play in tournaments they need games between tournaments to finalise squads and tactics the next two games against Italy and Germany are the last two games England will play prior to the start of the World Cup in November and will be very important games in England’s preparation for the World Cup.
