Stevo, I was talking about the PL Clubs games.

Must admit I was tempted by the Napoli game. Should have followed my intuition.😊

Rangers aren’t much higher than a Championship team.

It will probably be blood and thunder but I can only see a comfortable win for Liverpool very attacking team selection from Klopp.

This is the one to watch for goals imo.

Yes Brian whilst you can never take anyone lightly in the CL I’m sure Pep will rest a few v Copenhagen especially with 3 games a week coming up for everyone now. There will be lots of rotation from all Clubs this season.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has told the club’s hierarchy not to offer any players new contracts until he works out who deserves them. (Telegraph)

                Seems sensible.

Ed, it’s intriguing to see whether EtH can bring his Ajax style attacking football to United.

I completely agree that in Ajax’s run to the Semi Finals of the CL they played exciting football but yesterday what we saw tactically from EtH was closer to Mourinho than it was to Ajax in the CL but in fairness United were playing City and you can’t play too open against them.

Ed, Ten Hag at Ajax isn’t Ten Hag at United and the Dutch League is a weak League. Ironically how United played yesterday was the reason you didn’t want Conte and how United played yesterday was very close to Mourinho’s pragmatic style. Just my opinion Ed.😊

Ed , my recollections of Chelsea under Conte was that although pragmatic it was also reasonably creative too perhaps that was because Hazard and Fabregas were part of the team and players like Moses originally a winger played as a wing back with David Luiz never the best defender but very good and easy on the eye with the ball at his feet and of course it helped that Conte won trophies from the off winning the PL in his first season although in fairness he inherited a good squad with moving to 3 at the back his biggest tweak.

“The truth is Utd weren’t suddenly great after those 4 wins and we’re not suddenly terrible now after Sunday” I agree with that Ed although United were pretty terrible yesterday and the scoreline flattered them.

Fact is though is that on their day City can put 6 past most Clubs.

EtH is searching for a style but sitting deep and playing on the break is not the style United fans were looking for and I wonder how long they will accept it, a trophy would help and United have a good chance of winning the Europa League but there are reflections of Mourinho here but EtH needs time and hopefully he will get that.

Unfortunately there was only one team in it in both derbies when most neutrals were hoping for nip and tuck games and close contests.

ETH and Conte both need to find a plan b there’s only so long they can just rely on sitting deep and playing on the break.

14 goals in 8 PL games 3 goals in 2 CL games 17 by the beginning of October from Haaland is unbelievable. Records will be completely reset on this basis.

Wolves have sacked manager Bruno Lage after 16 months in charge following Saturday’s defeat by West Ham United left them in the bottom three.

Lage succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo last summer and led Wolves to a 10th-placed finish in his first season in charge.

However, they have won one and lost nine of their past 15 Premier League matches under the Portuguese.

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said that poor form meant he had “no choice” but take the “difficult decision” to sack Lage.

“Bruno is an excellent coach, a hardworking and dedicated manager, and a warm, wise and honest man,” said Shi.

“He and his staff have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at Wolves, so it is with much sadness that we have had to make what has been a difficult decision.

“I honestly have no doubts about Bruno’s ability and I’m sure he will succeed elsewhere, however the team’s form and performances over the last few months mean that we have no choice but to act.”

The decision has come after high-level meetings in the wake of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at the London Stadium, which raised renewed questions over the former Benfica boss.

The Black Country side have only scored three goals and picked up six points from eight games this season.

The club hierarchy felt the current run of form was a poor return given they have spent in excess of Β£100m on new players this summer.

They brought in Portuguese internationals Goncalo Guedes and Matheus Nunes, with the latter bought for a club record fee of Β£38m.

Lage, 46, also signed veteran forward Diego Costa, who had been a free agent for nine months and made his first competitive appearance since December 2021 against West Ham.

However, Β£15m summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic damaged knee ligaments days after his move from Stuttgart and key striker Raul Jimenez suffered knee and groin injuries in a pre-season friendly.

Wolves fans turned against Lage at the London Stadium, singing ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ at the Portuguese as their team slipped to defeat.

They are winless in eight Premier League away games – their worst top-flight run since 2011-12.

The manner of the defeat left club officials believing they had little alternative than to part company with Lage, who started with a back three despite allowing popular skipper Conor Coady to leave for Everton in August because he wanted to play with two at the back.

“The only thing I can say is that I’m sorry about the situation,” Lage said in his final post-match news conference as manger.

“We’ve tried to solve these little problems we have and at the moment we aren’t getting points or goals, but we are working hard for them.”

Lage’s replacement will be Wolves’ third Premier League manager since Terry Connor in 2012.

It is thought unlikely Wolves will have a new man in place for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea
It was in February that talk around Wolverhampton Wanderers was about whether they could secure an unlikely top-four berth.

A comfortable win over Tottenham enhanced Bruno Lage’s status and the transition from Nuno Espirito Santo seemed complete. Since then, Wolves have collapsed – undone by two old failings: an inability to score and the difficulty transitioning away from Nuno’s three-man defence.

On Saturday, the sight of playmaker Ruben Neves being deployed in a back three on the same day former skipper Conor Coady was playing for Everton was perplexing.

Lage cannot be blamed for the injuries that have robbed him of his main strikers, but the defensive problems are self-inflicted.

Senior Wolves officials did not expect to be in a relegation fight, and they needed someone they can trust to guide them away from the bottom three.

Ed, yes that’s exactly what Evra was saying and like you I think he’s right this has to be City’s time to win the CL now they’ve got Haaland.

Yeah Adlab clearly Evra doesn’t rate Haaland as per his quote last week.

                                  “He (Haaland) is a monster.”

β€œHe is using his physique, he’s a killer in front of goal, he does the right movements, he’s sharp for someone tall and strong. He’s like a cat.” 😊

United I believe are are still top 4 contenders but they’re not title contenders neither are Spurs title contenders imo but Arsenal could be title contenders, offensively they look very good but maybe not quite as good defensively.

Bit like the Ed I can still see Liverpool going on a run and making a title challenge but they will have to be much better than yesterday and they have to start turning things around soon.

Chelsea are outsiders for a top 4 place given all the previous turmoil at the Club but that would be a massive achievement.
