Ed, I think you’re right Chelsea should have got some coverage for Reece James. James had a bad hamstring injury last season and now the twisted knee.

The biggest games are all on Sunday happily take a draw v Arsenal right now. Spurs v Liverpool is difficult to predict it might depend on which Liverpool team turns up. New Manager bounce at Villa Park? You never know but United are still favourites for the win.

The injury to Chilwell over shadows the win .Thatβs almost certainly his World Cup gone. Gutted for him.

I’m sure Real could fit Bellingham in Ed.π
City are a good shout, Bellingham will have his pick.

Every major club in Europe will look to sign Bellingham which will push the fee up.
Be surprised if he doesn’t finally end up at Real Madrid. But you never know?

Well done to Spurs for turning it around and they top the Group too. Good game for the neutral.

Let’s hope Royal gets on then.π
It’s a very tight Group but overall I think Spurs will have a bit too much for Marseille.

Sterling has been pants Ed without he turns around his form very quickly I wouldn’t take him to the W.Cup.

The knee injury to Saka is a worry for both Arsenal and England with the World Cup so close let’s hope it’s not serious.

Not saying top 4 is out of the question Ed clearly based on the table and the game in hand although it’s against Liverpool it is but my gut feeling is I just don’t think we’ll do it.
I know everybody suffers injuries but one of Chelsea’s most important players in Kante has hardly kicked a ball all season, Chelsea don’t have anyone who can fill in for James at wing back there are 2 Centre backs injured and consequently Silva is being forced to play every game because of that and at 38 that’s too much for him.
I’m of course still hoping for a top 4 finish maybe January can help with that but I’m not that confident of Chelsea achieving it this season. Hope I’m wrong.π

Klopp looks tired he won’t be sacked but it will depend on his appetite for a rebuild and how much FSG are prepared to invest in a rebuild.
The 3 games a week is affecting Chelsea and the squad is struggling to cope with it especially given the injuries to key players playing Sterling and Pulasic as wing backs doesn’t work in the PL but there’s no replacement for James.
Some thinking for Potter to do but he’s overseen a good run with just one defeat and Rome wasn’t built in a day.
The squad needs a revamp which won’t be easy. Top 4 looks unlikely and even getting in the Europa League looks difficult but maybe a season without European football next season will help the redevelopment of the team under Potter.

Rover, the role is different Club by Club but generally Technical Directors are primarily looking at the future rather than the present especially in respect of players.
Chelsea FC are looking to create a Group of Clubs around the World it’s possible Stewart may also be involved in that. We’ll have a better idea how it’s all going to work once Stewart is in the Club and it all evolves.
Best example of a Technical Director in the PL is probably Txiki Begiristain and how comfortably he works with Pep Guardiola.

Chelsea appoint Laurence Stewart as new Technical Director.
βStewart will join Chelsea when he completes his commitments to AS Monaco where he is currently technical director, having moved to the Ligue 1 club in June 2020. During his time at Monaco, the team recorded consecutive third place finishes in Ligue 1 and was a finalist in the 2021 French Cup.
Prior to his role as the technical director at AS Monaco, Laurence was the global head of scouting at Red Bull Soccer International. Earlier in his career, Laurence was the head of performance analysis at Manchester City, senior recruitment coordinator at Everton, and was with the England national team in a performance analyst role for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
On his appointment to his new role, Stewart said: βIβm delighted to be joining Chelsea and excited about the vision and direction of the club under the new ownership group. I am excited to join them to help them build a world-class global sporting organisation to consistently win on the pitch at the highest levels and provide player pathways to help develop our talent.β
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said: βLaurence is an important appointment as we plan to build a deep sporting team that will collaborate closely. Laurence is a world-class football leader who understands talent management, data and scouting, player development and performance.β
Chelsea wishes to thank the owners of AS Monaco and their management team for supporting the recruitment of Laurence to Chelseaβs project.β Chelsea official Club site.

The difference though is Brian that this season you’ve signed Haaland who has already scored 22 goals in 15 games.π

Very good overall performance from Chelsea winning in Salzburg where they haven’t been beaten in 40 games at home.
