Sean, no worries mate unfortunately this debate always ends the same way. Fair question on what the new Chelsea owners have spent I was probably a bit frustrated by it all in my response. You know I love you.π Cheers 9’s

30th December 2022 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Weekend Part Two: Week 1: Or maybe 17: Don’t really know anymore… #202020Nil, You think the amount they charged consumers to be able to watch something that was once upon a time available on Terrestrial TV for free.
Wall to wall games were not available on Terrestrial TV for free!
Up to other TV companies to bid against Sky and BT Sport too much fracturing of the current coverage will cost fans more.
Once upon a time I had Sky now I have Sky, BT Sport and Prime costing me considerably more.

“Not having a go” but bit over what the Liverpool owners have spent in the last 12 months on transfers remembering though that Chelsea had a zero net transfer spend the previous season and that Liverpool are also looking to spend Β£100m plus on Bellingham.π

30th December 2022 at 6:51 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #202017Wouldn’t be quite so funny though Nil would it had Anfield been sold by your owners to property developers to build houses and flats on it and you wouldn’t have had a ground to play in with every home game money being collected in plastic buckets from the fans to try and Save the Bridge it took years to overcome that situation and until the Club regained control of Stamford Bridge no investment could be made on redeveloping a Stadium that by then badly needed redevelopment. It would help if people knew what they were talking about!

Just to say whilst it’s a matter of opinion 2 FA Cups a League Cup and a European Cup Winners Cup in the 6 years prior to the Abramovich takeover were reasonably successful and the Stadium was completely rebuilt by Ken Bates prior to the Abramovich takeover.

30th December 2022 at 1:26 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #201997“In fairness Nine, Iβve seen loads of Utd and Liverpool fans speaking out against the prospect of oil state ownership.” That’s true enough Ed but I’ve also seen many who would welcome it and realistically it doesn’t matter where the money is coming from United fans want rid of the Glazers because they think they are taking money out of the Club instead of investing it in the team both Liverpool and United fans want wealthy owners who will plough lots of money into their teams irrelevant of where they are from.
As for a non competitive PL I can’t remember too many title races that didn’t feature just 2 teams and I can’t remember too many title races even pre City that were much more than 2 teams competing for the title and there’s currently 2 teams fighting for this title everyone expected Liverpool to be up there this season too there were even Liverpool fans pre season saying Liverpool would win it by a margin but I suspect Liverpool will be back challenging next season you can’t have a tighter title race than last seasons when it was settled in the last few minutes of the last game other than perhaps the ” it’s Aguero” game.π

30th December 2022 at 8:31 am in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #201978United won 13 PL titles from 1993 to 2013 and in their pomp they were wonderful to watch. Liverpool dominated the League title in the 70’s and 80’s and in their pomp were wonderful to watch as they were in their title winning season. City were given a massive leg up through their ownership but in their pomp are equally wonderful to watch. All Clubs have benefited from owner investment Liverpool have spent heavily in the last 12 months despite making a loss in the last financial year one would presume from the generosity of their owners and the success of the 60’s,70’s and 80’s was driven by Moores family money, Spurs recent transfer spending has been reportedly driven on the back of a Β£150m investment from their owner.
The anti City rhetoric as always is driven by jealousy and double standards from some who have previously admitted they wished they had been as lucky as City and many United fans hope for a Middle East takeover to restore them to their former glories.
That’s not to say if City have done anything that the PL deem wrong they shouldn’t be held to account.

29th December 2022 at 1:49 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #201938Nil, agree with you about Robertson great left back one of the best in the world for circa Β£8m+. Chelsea have a bit of a chequered history on transfers especially with strikers but Zola at Β£4.5m and Cech, Azpilucueta and Cahill all at circa Β£7m were great buys at very little outlay. I’m hoping the new Fofana from Molde might be another.π€

29th December 2022 at 8:59 am in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #201918Interesting that seemingly because of the potential takeover United wonβt spend in January and Liverpool in the same position have spent on Gakpo probably a sensible buy given the fee and the injuries.
Will Liverpool spend big again in January though?
They might well try and still strengthen the midfield but I would be surprised given the current circumstances if they spend the circa Β£100m plus that some Liverpool fans are seemingly calling for on the likes of Fernandez remembering theyβve spent the best part of Β£200m since last January with owners who are accused by some Liverpool fans of not supporting Klopp.π
