Good Afternoon, my fellow football fans 🙂
Our game on shortly. I am absolutely encouraged by this set up
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c1d5q230nz2t#Line-ups
Finally away from home (and I know last year was different with our pile of players injured etc), 4-2-3-1. Gravenberch and Macca. This instils cohesion and a guard to minimize threat and play in our own box. Defence is the key. Jota the lone striker and Salah as an actual wide man. Let’s get the 3 points C’mon!!!!!

2nd October 2024 at 10:05 pm in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #215836Well Done Villa! Absolutely made up for Unai Emery and the journey so far he has accomplished 🙂
Happy and job done tonight for our guys. Push aside the threat 2nd half we overall maintained discipline and control. Not to let any goals in and rest on our laurels. Encouragement indeed.

Sean, I’m thinking like this too mate. Even though 2 goals have been conceded, I don’t feel too good about our defence and like an accident waiting to happen. I’m not sure why that is given the experience. We look more assured with Konate partnering VVD, but I think this boils down to not still having a proper Gini or Fabinho in our team to protect the defensive line.

City and Arsenal wins easy-peasy. Palace will be a tough trip for us playing Sat lunchtime and Selhurst Park will be revved up. We need the right 11 selected. I wouldn’t start with Zobo at the mo. See how Wednesday night shapes up.

In light of publicly reporting the situation on ETH, there is still uncertainty because of what the report could be interpreted as and what had took place even after United’s FA Cup Triumph.
It’s unsettling for everybody connected with the Club. So does his tenure determine on the outcome of game by game?
There are tough matches for them let’s be frank. A firm decision needs to be made as soon as because this doubt can hamper stability within the team in trying to work through the season and deliver progress

Touch wood and thank goodness as we approach October, we more or less have a clean bill of health albeit Nunez and a relatively short-term injury re Harvey Elliot.
We need to continue to utilize our players finding their strongest positions or positions they can comfortably shoe-in into; Joe Gomez more mature and just gets on with it.
Zobo for me is slightly under-performing where he needs to be more clinical with his finish. Gravenberch has grown. Would like to see more of Endo and hopefully, we continue to integrate Chiesa.
A good time you’d think to play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, then again, we have been here before. Only 2 goals conceded, 1 at home and 1 away, so that’s an encouraging stat to work from.
Can’t see either Man City or Arsenal slipping up, so it’s vital we get our job done Saturday as this is the last game before International Break.

Getting all nostalgic with the juices flowing in hahaha, but when I look back 30 years; before the point of time where I was heartbroken ala the FA Cup Final 1996, I really enjoyed watching players like Lee Sharpe, Andre Kanchelskis, Eric Cantona, and Ryan Giggs too. This was pre-Beckham and before he made it all about him. Dennis Irwin on the left, Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister; good reliable back line; Roy Keane Midfield! A Young Paul Scholes coming through circa 1995 🙂
Few Pints and Pies of the Culture before Wenger of Arsenal came in and brought in ‘Nutrition’gate, (to re-define the culture!) but these individuals had brass, and something about them.
I still don’t think this comes close to one of the two of Liverpool’s lowest of low spells, 1999 and 2010, but all quarters are Elephants in the room I really don’t like to say though it sadly for the Manchester United fans as it stands, the harsh reality.

Solanke, Johnson and Maddison offer a different dimension to Spurs and more of a threat with Kulusevki joining in. They’ve brought almost their best versions of themselves this afternoon so far bar not scoring more than 1 which for them hope they don’t live to regret.

He needed to go.
Beyond head-scratching for ETC. He needs a leader to translate on the pitch the instructions laid out from the start. This team is out of their depth.

Sean: Well, I still think back 2 weeks and reeling from the loss of Nott’m Forest. The players still at times lack guidance to be able to execute basics and and sustain a rhythm. Sloppy passing, the odd scare and mistake that we’re doing to ourselves would ultimately let us down and we’d fall short as a result.
With all that however, we are Top; dunno if deserving but I’ll take it all day long. 5-0 lost 1 🙂 🙂

Good finish by Konate, but we’ve not really played too well attacking wise.

That foul in the first half on Macca shouldn’t have followed with all the excessive protestation from Wolves. It’s a clear free kick and if Taylor feels this warrants a Yellow, that’s his prerogative. Only Captains really should be locked with Refs should they feel aggrieved with the decision and wish to raise a dispute.

Zobo’s missed a golden opportunity there. That was put on the plate for him.
