Oz yob, in full agreement there regarding the need for a Striker. I don’t know how Firmino is persisted with when I’ve felt he’s more of a player behind an actual striker even though he has known to get himself in the box.
The obvious of the defence just speaks for itself. We’ve lived through these scenarios so many times, you just eventually have to suck it up and take it on the chin as best as possible.

It’ll be a bumpy ride that’s for sure if all points discussed on other threads are not reinforced.

Bit tricky to predict on some of the Prem fixtures of this weekend.
Some of them could go either way.

I’d say the problem discussed is a deep rooted one and one quite frankly stemming from 2010. It’s been reflected over this long period of time, because those individuals who were there and gracefully carried us descended one by one:
I’m talking Carragher, Agger, even Skrtel when he had his better player and leader cap on. Hodgson was a car crash from the off and there wasn’t really quite the lasting fairytale we hoped for under King Kenny on his second honeymoon.
Rodgers brought in Sakho to try and forge a partnership with Lovren. Even if we had this in place along with a David De Gea type of keeper, we’ve had least had a solid base to then work on the full-backs and gradually develop and establish a defensive unit.
As it happens, the changes made and the lack of quality not good enough to address the problem has brought us back to square 1. Many quite rightly have pointed out that our attacking swagger and goals have counteracted but also masked the problem and when we have fallen short in those areas, we’ve been pegged back as proved ala the results against Watford and Seville.
Other teams on Wednesday won comfortably and handsomely. We on the other hand struggled. This is effectively the point that I wanted to put forward and try and positively acknowledge.
Now could somebody be creative enough to form a banner projecting that message? 🙂 😉

Highly commendable on one particular individual who suffered burns around his hairline area progressively. He carried on as normal and chose to work as normal rather than make Hospital priority.
It’s naturally come as a shock to those in the vicinity trying to get on with their lives as normal.
It was declared as Terror and some form of a Pressure Cooker concealed in a Lidl Carrier Bag.

999, that is actually a sound point about the mention of the owners. They have been with the club a good 7 years and from the investment brought in along with growth in so many areas off the pitch, they are in a greater position to now focus more attention on it.
1 trophy in the last 12 years for one of the most successful of clubs is poor if we look at it from a greater picture. Chelsea in that sort of period have achieved something like 14 and 2 of the recent cup finals including the Europa Liverpool have been involved ended as second best.
I would like to allow Jurgen more time and don’t want to fall into this pattern of changing Managers, but I wonder from an ownership point of view, plus supporters in general how much patience they themselves would allow.

I wonder if an Everton fan has designed that Ed, hahaha.
We have deep rooted problems in the highlighted areas that’s no hiding, but this is a little on the extreme side and I personally don’t want Jurgen dismissed. Though he would need to have an intention to address the defence good and proper.

I had experienced those problems a few weeks back Oz Yob when I wanted to start a topic on Sky’s new package of sports; wrote a fair bit and lost it as I couldn’t revisit the page even after pressing the back button.
Much credit to Ed, I’d rather those measures were in place to avoid really late night fake sign ups and arguments/flare ups between posters which was happening on the other named website.
Me personally have quite an admiration already for this particular site, though in general, I don’t want to form a long term habit of being too involved in what’s been written and discussed as I think time away gives you a better perspective of everything.

Genuinely thankful for the replies, thank you. It hurt to see others winning and we being pegged back. I just knew in the back of my mind (even though I don’t want to be thinking like this).
I can’t see myself being overly enthusiastic or excited certainly as far as the group stages go to be watching games on tv.
Paxton, on your first reply I fully agree. The defence is the structure, it’s like the legs that support the table. The transfer window activity have been excused as reasoning for not being able to bring in new defenders, but in the entire squad I think we have only half a dozen and players like Jon Flanagan are not even being considered.
What on earth is going through Jurgen Klopp’s mind to be even considering Raglan Klavan? We adding strength to the depth of the squad but too much in one area and not in the other and it’s very much now reached the point of suicidal as the Watford game vividly illustrated.
Going forward from now as people on here have quite rightly pointed out, it’s now a matter of what we do with the deck of cards we have and how we used them tactically on the pitch.

Sincerely wonderful to learn peace and harmony surrounding the Manchester concert; an event attended by Pep Guardiola and family.
If only Liam and Noel patch up their differences?!
Some songs are Liam DNA, but this was truly wonderful by Noel:

Mikus @ 6:13, all sound and valid points made and completely agree.
If we take ourselves back to when we secured new ownership to present, as far as we go on the pitch, I’d say we classed as ‘Hybrid‘.
My reasoning for this: One on side, we play breath-taking football, score lots of goals, blow teams away etc etc, plus challenge for a PL Title and most recently be able to compete almost on par with the other so-called Big Boys in the transfer market, and then…….
The other side: Under the Spotlight: Old problems or problems we haven’t addressed resurface.
As far as commerce goes, we’re a healthily runned club with prospects, an increased fan base not to mention numerous sponsorship deals secured, it’s fantastic.
However:
We’ve been speaking about the defence since Kenny Dalglish brought in Sebastian Coates. This is dating as far back as 2011. We’ll soon be reaching 2018.
Bar Jamie Carragher, I’d be struggling to recollect any well-established make up of defensive unit, not to mention be able to highlight decent and disciplined individuals. Jose Enrique in my view had a decent first spell under Kenny, but from injuries and what have you under Brendan Rodgers, he was left frozen.
Daniel Agger in my view was a breath of fresh air and one of the best ever in a central defender, we ever had. Again with Brendan Rodgers, he fell out of favour.
From my experience of viewing, Agger and Carragher were probably the best combined central defenders during this period of time. I don’t think Martin Skrtel really fitted with either of these guys when it came to forming an understanding. This is why a lot of mistakes were made perhaps doing an injustice to Pepe Reina.
Accustomed in unique to our club under FSG and taking into account too the way modern football at Top Flight has evolved, we found ourselves with a number of Managerial changes in a relatively short space of time:
After Rafa:
Hodgson
Dalglish
Rodgers
KloppWhen continuous changes are made at the top as far as the management team goes, there are naturally changes and a lot of reshuffling – great if you can pull it off, but there is that amount of movement and risk-taking, not every evidently as far as we are concerned has fell into place for us.
A similar pattern took shape with Man United after SAF left: They’ve had:
Moyes
Ryan Giggs (very briefly)
Louis Van Gaaland now Jose Mourinho
Players don’t now whether they are coming or going when there is transition after transition after transition. Too many changes too consistently affects stability momentum negatively.
Though critical of approach and decision-making, I am behind Jurgen Klopp, and one more big Summer Window is needed to address the problematic areas, but come 2019 if we are holding these discussions on message boards, then something fundamentally is wrong and accountability has to lie beyond the Club Manager.

Don’t want to start a new thread on this, but would greatly appreciate in light of yesterday’s whitewash what defensive line up would Posters choose. Would you include Mignolet or give Karius?
I’m desperate for example, Jon Flanagan to be reintegrated back into the first team even if that means placing him alongside Joel Matip as a Centre-half. Nathaniel Clyne looks as though he’ll be out for quite some time, so Flanagan could play there like he did under Rodgers.
Robertson too should be prioritized ahead of Alberto Moreno, otherwise why has Jurgen Klopp signed him? Baring in mind we don’t have a great deal of defenders in the squad in the first place, I’d bring in Lovren and give Karius another chance so the back four would look something like this:
Karius – Robertson – Lovren – Matip – Flanagan.
Moving onto the Midfield, I would consider playing Ox in the centre along with Can and Milner – drop Henderson and Wijn.
As far as our forward line goes, I’d reintegrate Coutinho to play him on the left, with Salah on the right, and then Sturridge/Solanke as a central striker – drop Firmino.
I’d understand anybody coming forward in disagreement, but just feel a shake up is needed on the back of yesterday’s humiliation.

Leadership is absolutely vital in any team sport. A nominated Captain or a Club Captain should be providing that at his utmost.
You look at other professions from other industries out there and they have a Team Leader, a Supervisor or a Manager who has that presence, leads by example and is there to turn to when there are difficulties.
You need somebody hands on deck and able to react quickly to change or unfortunate circumstances.
Bar the odd trace of brilliance such as last season V Chelsea, what does Henderson actually offer us as a Captain? Ironically, I convinced myself or believed when he was out injured, we were missing him.
James Milner is a much more of a better example. Why is our manager seemingly afraid to drop certain players and not others? Why was Mignolet even reinstalled?
Aside footballing ability and competencies for their playing positions, we need footballers who can be vocal and not afraid to speak. We are missing that in Adam Lallana. In previous generations, players like Jan Molby and Ronnie Whelan were perceived more as figureheads and individuals a younger player could turn towards for guidance and support.

My, that’s an interesting pattern at the foot of the table as it stands and in light of the result coming in from Turf Moor.
The 3 promoted clubs probably albeit nearly Newcastle have had better starts than those currently at the bottom.
I am surprised with Bournemouth, maybe they’ll turn it around soon. Palace could be the one that falls short come May 18 – wouldn’t want to see them leave the Premier League.
Not to read obviously anything too deep at this stage of the season.

Sky and Jamie Carragher analysis I am definitely choosing to ignore – they are a pain to watch and listen too!
