You do feel hard done by if you’re a Watford fan when you consider at one point you’re 2-1 up and that’s after turning it around from being 1-0 down. Lots of goals conceded though late on, so credit has to be given to Chelsea bringing on a sub and changing the game.

Remember, it’s performances and wins delivered in that manner that take you further up the table and win you the league too.

On the back of this other stream of chat opened, I’d add at the moment Ashley Williams as a highly unlikeable character. I could picture him in a rumble when it comes to our Merseyside Derbies.

Just really chuffed to be top of the group as it stands inspite of Spartak’s own thrashing over Seville (5-1).

Hahaha Chucky, I know Pal 🙂 You know my growing likeness for Spurs and how highly I rate them so I’d be happy with a point, but even happier with all 3 🙂

My, I’ve not seen anything like this for almost a year, if not a year when we thrashed Watford at Anfield in the PL. It all sort of went downhill from there and we’ve been fighting to be consistent, consistently ever since.

Need a big result this Sunday now.

And to add, I wonder if Jose will employ these tactics when his side travel to the Ethiad, meaning that he’s not just got something against Liverpool.

The only other thing I’d say as a quickie is that if these games are ending 0-0 with a team just solely focusing on nullifying a good attacking side, then perhaps with 0-0 draws, FIFA if anyone could maybe consider the idea of a 15 minute ‘powerplay’ after the game.

Obviously that’s an opportunity to throw in the kitchen sink and one with the most goals of course takes all 3 points.

I’m with Oz Yob and Chucky.

Without getting hung up on this, if you think in context of when he Managed Inter, he’d be able to get you a result. Like Rafa when he first joined Liverpool, he was ultra disciplined on defending as a first.

People get wound up about this because Jose was the one who invented the phrase ‘park the bus’ after the 0-0 Spurs draw where I think he had an expectation to take all 3 points. It’s a classic case of ‘one rule for one and one for the other’.

Wasn’t he a bit begrudging when United couldn’t turn draws into wins and teams like Burnley last season stole all 3 points. If he showed more humility and grace to opposition teams, then maybe he himself would be better received.

And, just to add, from a personal point of view, I don’t think I can continue to post on here much longer if I am constantly seeing negativity regarding Liverpool.

A huge shame as this is a wonderful site, however at times, still don’t feel (a) privacy just to chat amongst our own supporters and (b) any of our own supporters albeit minority getting behind the team.

It’s an atrocity and a blooming health warning, bordering just about, I don’t know. Just silly against what should be from our point of view, just living it.

If we lose, we lose, but let’s live the life and don’t let any interference affect us. YNWA

                        HH,

I’ll have to find a way to keep in touch as I have a wedding reception to attend to at 12! I’m hoping they will open up the bar next door ‘exclusively for the big screen, otherwise, it’s either via Smartphone or a tiny Radio!

I’m actually pretty upbeat despite what’s stacked against us. Those who were on international duty have had plenty of time to recoup and we’re at Anfield. I don’t think their gameplan will be to come out of the traps straight away and fire at us. They’ll want to run down the clock and throw their spanner in the works late.

It would be wonderful if we could grab All points as it could pave way to push on and develop a mini run of victories.

I think re Jose, it’s an interesting one in his likely tactical plan.

I don’t think away from home the way that team will set out, be any different to Ferguson’s previous outings against us.

Think about it. Recall back to say the one where Forlan bagged himself a couple Giggs bagged on another occasion, and O’Shay on another. They are similar patterns to their effectiveness against the run of play, and naturally a little bit of luck than just individual brilliance.

Jose is likely to lure us into a false sense of security allowing the crowd to get behind us and deliver high octane football. He’d be the more happy man come half-time, and the scores remaining 0-0.

He’ll gradually up the ante and turn that dial knowing that we’re gradually going to get tired and create less than more.

We ourselves have to be prepared to be smart, patient and maintain our discipline. The key for me is to not crumble at the first hurdle and everybody fighting for each other on the pitch.

                                Jim,

it’s a crying shame Milner’s on the wrong side of whatever he is now age-wise, because as far as his skill-set goes, he can play right-wing and put crosses in, he obviously showed he can drop to left-back and as far as the midfield goes, he can play either offensively or defensively.

I’m slightly lost in what’s happening with the Ox and why we shelled out that type of money – is he bought to replace Henderson?

Henderson is at his richest playing those short-passes and gradually working his way up to support the attack. He is strong when he’s zoned himself out. What he struggles a lot of the time with is tracking back in the central part of the pitch in front of our box and protect it. He’s more suited just behind the centre-circle and occasionally down the flanks as a second person to win the challenges.

Milner on the other hand just naturally has that a little bit more extra awareness, experience and slightly more willingness to be a soldier to us.

He must start for me Jim.

Wijn I’m afraid for the fee paid towards him has only shown me traces of any effectiveness.

Mane would have been ideal against United in a fold which could have allowed Klopp 2 possibilities:

                                  1) Play Mane in the middle like a Beardsley Role just behind the front man

                                  2) Play Mane on the left (as they have done), and move Phillipe back in the centre.

It is a big loss, there’s no arguments there because with his attacking flair and bluster, you’re likely to easily open up their defence.

As long as we set up the way we should in the middle of the park with James Milner and Can playing slightly deeper, Jordan Henderson can solely focus on supporting the front 3 and in fairness to him, he’s kopped a lot of slack than praise because the mixture of his performances.

                                    Chucky,

I totally get that as a top team can hurt us outright with their level of quality as we found against Man City, and although I don’t want to take the fact that it was a wonderful performance from them, there is still that point of us being reduced to 10 men and goals largely (if not all) scored in and around the 6 yard area.

This is why we need somebody commanding like a Van Dijk, but anyway, this discussion has fallen off the wagon in what essentially is about the Mane injury.

We genuinely played better than many credit us for re the Leicester game as we passed the ball better, had greater possession and were in control of the game.

The scoreline didn’t reflect that and anyone that didn’t watch the game fully would go by that and think of us as some kind of a mediocre outfit. Salah was top draw.

I’d assert the point of some similarity re versus Newcastle as they are a rebuilding outfit from the Championship, but have a good defensive coach in Rafa that basically nullified us. Maybe some might argue 1-1 was a fair result, but I don’t agree with that vehemently because we’re not being outplayed by these type of teams, but instead, being exposed and hurt from our defensive weaknesses.

We’re not as low I feel as some people are making us out to be, whether it be our fans, other fans, or the media.

We do look a more balanced Bofa since Salah have joined us and Coutinho is playing on the left for us.

As we have Man U this Saturday, we would have bolstered our attacking options and Mane could have played as a striker for us.

First of all a bow to Harry Kane as he’s been a true lion, and a leader setting a fine example.

Sure, it was boredom and we were limited to quality naturally because of the changes and the youngsters, but Southgate at least fielded 2 more experienced players in Henderson and Kane and individuals to support the rest of the reshuffled pack.

Bit of a depressing weekend overall as admittedly, I don’t like the disruption of International breaks, but I felt tonight, the opportunity of bringing in the kids were rightly introduced and that’s a big positive. I do hope this has not been treated as simply gap filling, but Southgate has noted everything presented to him and those kids are welcomed further opportunities in the future.
