There’s a Banana Skin for sure brewing up for this weekend. The question is, which team?

Seems more Political than 2 Million. Was SAF just a Silent Partner? 😉

He’s had thrown at him the Question of whether he will sing the National Anthem.
I think Tuchel will. It’s probably all the politics and pleasing people he’s conscious of, but if somebody ultimately has come forward to commit themselves, then Welcome Aboard Thomas Tuchel.

I wanted Pep. I saw online footage of his half-time talk to Man City when they were in a loosing position to Southampton. The account he gave and the context really was something that you wouldn’t hear too often from other Managers. A different way to rip into his players underperforming.
He would give these players a kick up the backside they need and I have no doubt he would bring Football home.
Yep, I think he’s been approached and he’s declined.

I’d be very surprised if these lot survive the whole term. So much that is wrong, so little done that sparks a change in the right direction.

I’ve seen this all before with new Managers; too much change too soon. That’s essentially what it looked like y’day. The shape often was lost and tendered at times as dysfunctional. Greece would have had more goals bar Offside and VAR.
One interesting observation on Arne Slot is that he is using what he has inherited and not just going out and buying players willy-nilly for the sake of change. He’s actually refining and coaching/developing to re-shape existing stock into better individual and team players.

Wonder if the PL and the rest of us especially the clubs that rallied together to go against City have egg on their faces? Doesn’t look too clever from this angle.
These guys will get away with it as with the likes of PSG, and Real (if there was something il-legit to get away with in the first place).

Surprising results from this afternoon (didn’t see the football having been at work). Forest to have held Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is impressive. Thought Villa would edge past United, but this goes to show you can’t take the duration of a match for granted.
There are teams I respect that do try hard even knowing underlyingly, they may be weaker on paper. Strength of the Prem upholds itself with competitiveness from your least unlikely candidates.

Yeah Mikus, I had a look at both benches outside the first 11, and Brighton in my eyes actually have more quality. I think Rodgers sometimes was active and would react to try and change things, but Ange wasn’t really effective in trying to influence change. The heads dropped and sadly, capitulation.
Werner shouldn’t be in this first 11. Son and Richarlison much needed and hopefully back after the inter break.

Hmm, dunno whether to be surprised at Brighton or whether people have underestimated Spurs? Really good scoreline so far you have to say at the Amex.

Yeah, need to watch highlights tonight; I suppose the encouraging thing from the opposition is that City are leaking goals haha and Halaand didn’t really show up this afternoon. Gunners still on another level. The dark-horses are Chelsea.

Yeah mate, agree. The old C word once again – Consistency, but that can’t be achievable unless all Refs sing from the same hymn sheet 🙂

Yeah, Chucks we got away with that. The officials did document an explanation shown on TV. Whether or not people will agree with the reasoning and decision, it was good to actually see a response.

Different 2nd half of the second half. I don’t make light of this, but Palace’s substitutions were almost a game changer for them; very fortunate to hold on to the 1-0 lead and come away with all 3 points. I think with our subs, our shape changed and we let loose at times causing scary moments on the counter.
The big concern obviously is Alisson and he’s set to be out for weeks maybe even months. Good to see the new keeper standing in.
Top spot certainty for 2 weeks; hoping now for the others to slip up.

5th October 2024 at 1:30 pm in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #215854Yeah Chucks I like him. I guess this boils down to timing and shame things didn’t work at at Liverpool, but built up a good trade at Bournemouth and thus why he attracted Spurs and a deserve move. Unlikely in reality Werner will get you goals, but he can still offer some from the flank to others.

Kostas really has been impressive this first half. Busy little player offering threat. I love the 4-2-3-1. Purpose, possession and a proper structure. Better too without the 3 in midfield and Zobo. Superb move that led to Jota finishing. This is what we need to aspire too. The 3 attacking midfield set up playing with freedom with the help of Curtis and Trent.
We need to protect and add to our lead. This is a great opportunity.
