Bright and an impressive start from the Reds. Even with the changes, they look quality; passing the ball well, but significantly strong in retaining possession.
Solanke almost broke the deadlock – pleased with Wijn so far as he’s showing a lot industry and poise to threaten Leicester’s defence.

I genuinely wish him well. He’s young and has a whole life ahead of him. Many footballers once retired don’t really realise they have a whole life ahead of them and effectively, they could potentially go into almost anything they want.
Robbie Fowler went into property, and I think there’s a well known former Chelsea player that went and studied an undergraduate degree.
Some just fall into punditry, and from my point of view in that particular capacity, there’s a little too many on the market – refreshing to see somebody do something different for a change.

There’s every chance (if not in place already) of betting markets available on Palace. Hodgson barely setting a foot in I believe has a massive mountain to climb
The timing couldn’t be tougher as both Manchester clubs have been on fire and knocking in goals for fun. Away from home, there is not a cat-in-hell’s-chance!
Sergio hat-trick easy – think I might join in on the 7-0!

Solanke and Sturridge should definitely start and would also like to see Jon Flanagan and the Ox.
Surely there is motivation and an opportunity whoever is selected to go out and prove their worth for the next game this weekend.

Will have a flutter on this. Slightly hard to gauge as I suspect with some Prem teams, wholesale changes are likely to be made. I wonder though with all-Prem ties whether each of the teams will field their strongest line ups.
Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will definitely be ringing changes against Leicester, though it has been said behind the scenes there is pressure on the Manager and every competition is to be treated with respect it deserves and to be taken seriously.

I don’t understand the 11/2 placed on Chelsea. That to me suggest the Bookmakers feel against the Manchester clubs, they are not as strong.
A few of us quite rightly have praised Man City’s start however, another angle to view this perhaps cynically is the fixtures City have faced so far such as newly promoted Brighton, Watford, and struggling Bournemouth.
You only beat what’s in front of in which I agree, but the way the pendulum swings week-by-week by Bookmakers and the media industry just needs a bit of a reality check and perspective not to get too carried away too soon. Let’s see developments after for instance 12-15 games.

Wonderful to see you on these shores M Wake. I read a great post on the other place possibly written by yourself about trying to get a bit of perspective overall (on the back of Saturday’s 1-1 draw).
Look forward to reading more of your posts on the LFC boards 🙂

Remember Scott Parker – did he play under Harry?

I absolutely liked Harry at Spurs as a neutral. He just allowed everyone to go out and play – remember Bentley hitting the heights not to mention a certain Gareth Bale and Luca Moderic. Posh is probably the best coach though Spurs have had in a while transforming this Spurs team to be more resolute at the back with quality defenders.
I never really understood or took to AVB.

Just made me think on the subject of timing. I mean, I have to say CP would have done better to appoint Redknapp than Hodgson. He would definitely recharge Palace with belief and confidence and start picking up points.

The gap financially has narrowed because of the TV money where as monies previously would be relied upon securing a place in the CL and being involved in the tournament as long as possible.
There are naturally clubs who have a tight budget (e.g. Newcastle), but there’s a lot of clubs now more than before not only have investors, but TV revenue.

I was actually surprised at the scoreline and expected Chelsea to win comfortably.
Even when the clock was on 80-85, I thought to myself, a Chelsea late goal. I suspect the obvious in the underlying that led to this outcome was the fact that Arsenal’s last away game resulted in total humiliation.
Stamford is a tough place to go so to keep a clean sheet and earn a result, I’d be pretty chuffed.

18th September 2017 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Missing Ingredients: Defence-Leadership-Matchwinners #5241Oz Yob,
it’s fair to accept that the landscape has now changed as far as the Prem goes.
If you think back to the sort of early years of the Rafa era, we would have clinched 4th but on a lower point margin (off the top of my head from previous study of tables 58-71 points).
Add to that significantly the fact that back then, we had a default ‘SKY 4’.
Now or for a fair few years, we have Man City and Tottenham who have pushed the bounderies and regarded as part of the ‘pack’ in finishing in the top 4.
If you think back to last season, although City got off to a flyer, at one point, they were struggling to make the top 4. So although against Liverpool. there are teams out there with more depth in quality, they ultimately have to be the team consistently delivering because there’s other teams out there ready to capitalize.
Based on this, attaining a place for a CL qualification is difficult and more of a challenge than previous seasons.

I know what it feels it re the log-ins and passwords. I’d like HR or somebody in administration to sort my work one out so I can my emails, see what’s going on and use the social media network – how hard and hassle can it be?!

Ed, very true. I do feel with these thrashings though, particularly at OT, it sets a precedent. The type it sets has not been seen in reality since the better days under SAF.
Visiting teams with that belief they can quite comfortably go and pick up something will think twice.
Your home patch has to be your fortress especially if you are wanting to build a sequence of victories and challenge for honours.

Everton heading in the bottom 3 tonight. Gosh and I was singing Pickford’s praises. Maybe Williams is more to blame. If you don’t take you chances when you 1-0 down, the Red Devils with the attacking quality they have over the course of time will punish you.
As I type, there’s a possibility too of United leapfrogging City.
4-0!

Quite a lively and an upbeat one for me Ed.
I’m surprised it’s ended 0-0. Never anticipated that at all.
Quite chuffed too from an LFC point of view neither of these got past 1 point.
