Ed, agree re the idea of a new face brought in on principle. It would deflect the attention off Coutinho.
Though I think we need to play this steadily and not be hasty.
I do feel already within some quarters of the Media, they seem to have forgotten we’ve only just brought in Van Dijk!
The loss of Coutinho I feel will affect unlocking those set pieces outside the box, and somebody unleashing one into the top corner from open-play.
Riyad maybe a possibility? Lanzini? I don’t know, but I don’t believe this would hamper really our position as far as CL qualification goes.

It’s pretty scary and freakish with the fact that Holgate shows so emotion or any expression of remorse after his actions. His face remains ice cold. He grabbed hold of Lallana, then pulled away like it was non-existent, and then he blatantly out of nothing man-handles Roberto Firmino who fortunately was not seriously injured.
He’s a scumbag, there’s no two ways about it. I read something about the possibility of a 10 game ban on Firmino but nothing on Holgate. Sometimes I really don’t get some of the reporting that’s on public domain and selective too in their nuances.

I was hugely pleased in spite of BT, the number of games covered live by the BBC – Newport County on BBC Wales and were fortunate to get ours live, Friday Night.
I do agree – needed a good portion of excitement from Saturday and as you quite rightly point out, the only real shock came from the Ricoh which saw the sword finally fall on Mark Hughes.
I still think the romance of the Cup is there – can’t wait for the draw tonight.

There were more upsets compounded on the back of Sunday’s results.
Fleetwood on Sat was a bit unusual and Leicester you’d think would edge through first time of asking.
Something of a ‘I smell a rat’ in the direction of bets.
Didn’t think Leeds would get knocked out by Newport and honestly didn’t think the Gunners would go out the way they did as Forest have been rubbish and recently have had a Managerial change.
VAR to be trialled tonight ala Brighton and Palace. I wonder what’s in store 🙂

Was lucky to see Phillipe live stick the ball into the back of the net – a week or so after my Birthday.
God does look out for me 🙂 🙂
Just seen him in Barca colours and he just looks happy. He’s a wonderful lovely soul and although I’m sad he’s no longer a Red, I wish him well.

Apparently, one certain Rag has started it’s stirring on us again. They think we should stump up 145 on Mahrez, just because we fetched that type of though on Phillipe.
Yes, Mahrez is good but you’re comparing a maybe high-end Focus against a quality spec Audi!!!!!!

I’m sure I’ve seen Wise-fan previously on this site before this week – just seemed like any other poster to me, though liked in particular in him recognizing other decent Managers like David Wagner and Eddie Howe.

Chucky, my friend, I’d have to unfortunately disagree with you on that one.
I know particularly in this type of industry you need to be able to toughen up and have a ruthless streak, but in my years of experience in following the game, there have been Gentlemen in Management and ones in which brought decorum to the game.
The late Sir Bobby Robson being one of them. Always loved too the late Emlyn Hughes when he used to come on Question Of Sport – just a lovely bloke.
To a large degree, I can see where you’re coming from and there’s more people easily to dislike than like the way the industry is now be it a Player or a Manager – would still remain in faith that there are some good uns out there.

Jim, on the other part of your point/post linked to what I think there’s something underlying within this thread, there’s an element of tribalism and preciousness. I think as the thread unravelled more comments, that’s when it started to get a bit heated.
There’s a few decent Managers on the circuit so to me, they are not all ‘Asshats’ to coin Chucky’s choice in use of term.
I don’t know whether it’s the Media that are doing this due to the ‘Big 6’ in the league, but there always tends to be more exposure and coverage of those Managers occupying the jobs of those clubs.
I think Poch is one of the least, the Media don’t really seem to pick up as he’s just naturally mild-mannered and doesn’t tend to say anything outside his comfort zone.
Wenger seems to regularly land himself an FA charge everytime he criticizes the Referee. And the ones with strong character and personalities that leave quotes are the ones Journos and Reporters love as a it’s an easy Headline-maker for them with column inches filled.

Jim yes, but I don’t like my own handling and felt I went too deep into the subject of this particular thread, probably because I was ill at the time and was frustrated in not being able to go out
Becoming embroiled into a negative type of thread just eats you away and before you know it, you end up wanting to take it out on someone.
Why is some BBC reporter wooden spoon-stirring onto Conte? It’s personal and has nothing to do with football.

Haha, I know Pagan. Great weekend overall and pleasing to see the romance is still there and the lesser sides are trusting in themselves.
I’d be livid if I was an Gunners fan, but nothing new there – vision and values seems to have got lost.

Imagine if we had Plough Lane PPT?
One proper football ground 🙂

Shrewsbury gave a good account of themselves and probably a bit unfortunate not to go all the way with a win, but like a few others have earned themselves an opportunity to earn some serious dosh with a replay at the London Stadium.

Everyone should be allowed their own viewpoint without somebody immediately jumping down your throat with theirs trying to override yours.

Just seems to me the same people and a love-in for the same Manager regardless of the website.
All a blessing to get new posters and different thoughts, especially ones that I agree with and would likely to get on well with.

A big upset there – feel for Leeds and didn’t see that coming but full credit to Newport County.
In the hat for round 4 and I’m sure financially this will be a treat for them.

This is just my viewpoint and I see this as a slight similarity to my own club, but United need somebody to build a team and who’s going to be in it for the long haul.
I know in the modern day trends have changed because of the way expectations are with owners, but a more healthier blueprint would be an inset of somebody to serve at least 10 years.
Moyes came in, he needed players, then they had Van Gaal, same thing, needing players, and now Jose. Have United drastically improved?
No skin off my nose in obvious ways but if this really is the beginning of an end, then yet another Managerial change after Ferguson which is just uncharacteristic.
Never liked it when my club went through, Hodgson, Dalglish, and Rodgers in the space of 7 or so years.

What I don’t understand (even if it was ‘fake news’) why would somebody report “undergoing a medical today”?
We’ve had Metro, Express, Mirror, BeIN Sports.
Liverpool understandably have quashed all this. Maybe he’s been secretly flown into Melwood hahaha.
And something later might emerge as ‘Breaking News’.
