Cheers Mav, and I can see where you’re coming from.
Haha, Chucky, I’m not getting sucked into this mate. I shouldn’t have even entered this thread, ha! 😀 🙂

Mav 73, refreshing to see a more open-minded viewpoint. I have been turned off or put off by the excessive amount of ‘thumbs up’ in the direction of Man City – a little too much syrup poured by the pundits, media, football fans and all the rest.
Yes, we know what they have delivered so far, and some may argue they’ve been on a different planet, but I am not convinced. We don’t even know how the United fixture will pan out in December. I honestly believe already City are in for a tough afternoon at Leicester tomorrow.
Realistically from my point of view, Man United, Tottenham and Chelsea are City’s nearest challenges, though they don’t seem to be receiving that type of exposure as are City.

So Liverpool nor Tottenham for example according to the ‘experts’ can never win the league?
The best we can hope for is a ‘mickey mouse’ cup and 4th, probably not even that according to some.

I’ve seen it with Newcastle.
I’m not saying City will capitulate in one flash, I’m saying at this stage of the season, it would be far to early to ‘declare’ a winner.
I don’t particularly like what I read re some of the comments nor agree. That’s my take on it for what it’s worth.

Haha, I think I’d be banging my head against a brick wall Jim 🙂
We’ll just believe everything the Bookmakers and the Pundits tell us, hand the title over to you lot, pack our suitcases and head for the sunset till next season 😉

I do feel strongly as far as mentality goes, if these odds are placed in reckoning within good reason and at this stage of the season City are top. If you are ‘A’ team 10 or even 15 points behind, would you: week in week out feel demotivated or deterred and try less?
Would you not go out and give everything you’ve got to try and win your game?
The bottom line is, you never get those games back and particularly when you start hitting February-March, you reflect back and think you should have made more of the games back in September, October, November.
I don’t say for example Liverpool are ‘in it’, but equally, my aim is always to try and catch the top 2. That has to be ‘the’ Holy Grail and you have to have that sort of mentality and ambition about you.
Tottenham although have unfortunately fallen short HAVE actually been more consistent in recent years and have been more closer to winning it. Doing the best you can and finishing as high as possible gives you more of a yardstick to build from as a positive.
By no means I would have it over to any of the Manchester clubs.

Nine, haha go for it mate with the 20/1. As long as it’s mathematically possible, don’t let any Bookmaker put you off or point out otherwise. If I was a Chelsea supporter, I’d be urging my team to just focus on getting those points on the board when presented with an opportunity.
Still lots of games to play and everything to hope for really for at least 4 of those teams currently occupying those positions.
Cheers

Brian Blue, perfectly summed up.
The betting industry is a bit naughty and cheeky, but ultimately, they do what they have to do and they’re a business. From a personal point of view, I don’t need a weekly update nor would want a weekly update.
And here’s the thing: supporters shouldn’t use it as a Barometer because by no means is it Mystic Meg, and humanity won a little bit with Leicester and the ‘once in a lifetime’ 5000/1.
When you lose games or start dropping points, the Managers have to face and feel the pressure of Betting industries, Journalists and Reporters. It’s an even more cut throat environment because of the way football is now perceived to be, and that is a business more than a Sport because of the vast amount of money in circulation.
One noticeable observation significantly influencing this fluctuation on a weekly basis is the competitiveness of our league in recent years. It’s greater and better than ever and certainly not the ‘Man United’ league. There is more choice which if you look at it in the angle of the Betting industry is pound signs all over it’s not really pinned down to a one horse race.
If the competition is lesser, then odds are forced in a negative direction like 1/3 on so unless there’s somebody out there with heavily filled Trouser Pockets, from a consumer point of view, you stand to profit very little, but risk more in the pipeline.
My own way of perceiving and dealing with it really is to take it with a pinch of salt or don’t get too hung up on those details and allow yourself to lose focus.
You are naturally wary of your rivals/competitors and hope sternly for them to lose points just to ease your own task, but ultimately on a week by week basis, it’s down to those players on the pitch to deliver and get over the finishing line with all 3 points.
Cheers

Nine, I think in relation to this it’s more from a business point of view in the betting companies being able to keep up with what’s going on, on a weekly basis and fluctuate their prices essentially to cover themselves combined with trying to be realistic and offer the customer the best price.
I agree with viewpoints coming from the angle that at this stage, they may not be confident or convinced the title is sown up or some sort of a 2 horse race.
Personally, I’d even say if this was Liverpool with 15 straight wins (especially us being us), I still wouldn’t be convinced or lump anything big on.
It took some time with Leicester a couple of years ago because Tottenham were on their heels, but I think it was when the season was heading towards the tail end with a 10 point gap (or something like that between the top 2), the games lessened to the point of it becoming more apparent.
I think it’ll be close this time round and may even take the final week of the season before we see officially a team getting over the finishing line.
Cheers

14th November 2017 at 10:18 pm in reply to: England V Brazil – Tuesday 8pm / Italy fail to qualify for the World Cup #7492I’m highly tempted to start another thread because quite simply, I’ve been robbed in being time-wasted. I know about youngsters tested, but this was during experienced players on the circuit like Bryan Robson and Gary Lineker.
This is sheer bullshit. I don’t normally swear or like to swear, but this it bullshit.
I hate the Bus parked and running down the clock with only at best one guy willing to give his all. Nonsensical, and I’m being too nice to declare just being insulted point blank.

14th November 2017 at 10:02 pm in reply to: England V Brazil – Tuesday 8pm / Italy fail to qualify for the World Cup #7486A friendly, and the point of experiment, but nothing shun from any of the 2 games from England. No ambition.
The argument naturally be raised of the opposition and quality, but it should be DNA to just go for it an give it your all. I seen that largely and only in Marcus Rashford up the top.
Southgate my friend: You played under Venables, but by no means you are BORING!!!!! Dull and Boring and one to stifle good football and simply park the bus!!!!!!!!!!!
