Top class and a beautiful player to watch 999. Forget Costa my friend and hold on to this individual. He is an asset to the Premier League and I wish Liverpool could have somebody like him.

I want Brighton too. I don’t really like Newcastle like I used to or Rafa – hope they lose.

          True Oz Yob,

Although individually, these guys have their own strengths (in one way or another) to bring to the table, I don’t see Henderson, Can and Wijn, to be ‘that guy’. Mascherano was a big loss to us and never replaced.

James Milner comes very close, but how often will he start and play in that role now that Klopp has taken him out of the left back position?

The set pieces pinpoint more to how we deal with the second ball. The full-backs shoulder some accountability because really in essence, they should be following up the second balls to tidy up and clear the lines.

Instead, the centre halves are stretched as a result. The opposition needs only one extra man and he’ll find himself an empty net or a goalmouth to aim for with only the keeper to beat.

I always find it’s a combination of zone and man-marking that generates discipline and a measured defensive line.

It’s times like this even when you still think we should have a proper hitman like Suarez.

Look at Morata for Chelsea yesterday. We’re in need of a prolific goalscorer as in fairness to Salah and Mane, they are deemed more as wingers.

Well, the pair of us have definitely not grabbed hold of the wrong tree trunk.

Redmen TV gave Henderson a 9 on ratings – hahaha, fully deserved 🙂

                Oz Yob,

you’re right. It’s about taking every game as they come. Our concerns effectively lie with that final part of the pitch behind the ‘D’. That’s where we are at most vulnerable.

Not many teams for example beat us with a goal outside 25 yards or dribble past us. It’s always trying to expose our achilles heal, and we have to face up to that and find a way to deal with it by allowing opposition teams very little opportunity to create anything, and be able to handle soundly, crosses and set pieces, largely ariel threats.

It was quite pleasing to see Dejan Lovren back in the fold; Matip is self assured and focused in his own role. The full-backs it’s fair to say in the first 11 can’t include Moreno and Gomez every week because, teams will just expose us if they can’t shut out crosses or any level of threat from those wide positions.

Protection to the back 4 is needed and sooner or later, Jurgen Klopp has to piece together Henderson, Milner, Can, Wijn, Oxlaid, and Kieta when it comes to the making of defensive and central midfield positions.

Forward, indeed, there has to be a prolific goalscorer and the big wonder will be, whether or not we will still be able to keep hold of Phillipe Coutinho, if not, bring in somebody to match his wonderful and top class ability.

                  Oz Yob,

the point of the 20 goal scorer did flag up once again in today’s match. Sturridge genuinely looked sharp when he came on. BBC highlights didn’t show any of this and their narrative doesn’t really reflect on what actually happened.

Firmino I don’t know why the Manager insists on starting with him and not Sturridge or Solanke.

I’m starting to now clearly see which individuals are affecting us negatively from different areas of the pitch and at best are squad players. Coupled with that, the benefits both Kieta and Van Dijk (if he came would bring:

                  1) Striker – Firmino??

                  2) Defensive Midfield – Wijnaldum – good at holding the ball and has it in him to support attacking play, but a lot of the time just lacking aggression

Ox-laid could really be top draw for us despite being questioned on the back of his signing and the fee paid. If we can put forge first off a quality defensive unit and build from there along with a serious hitman who can bury the ball in the back of the net, we have a serious first 11 capable of beating ANY prem outfit.

Hightown, just watched the MOTD highlights. I felt they spun their punditry on the Vardy foul. Sure there was a slight clutz in Migs, but it didn’t warrant a yellow and probably was a soft pen.

Mignolet other than that genuinely was ‘the’ one that made the kept us in the game. Just put my thoughts on the LFC page.

We controlled possession and Leicester hardly created anything albeit Mark Albrighton. Mahrez was non existent and Vardy barely troubled Matip, albeit one stint in the first half and the header which looks flattering on tv than it actually was.

Wow, just happy and slightly relieved too to get over the finishing line.

Just got back from the match. We were crucified once again from losing (I think on the second ball (their first goal), and a cross.

Other than that in spite of Moreno straying away from his full-back position, Matip and Mignolet too were top draw and very much had Vardy in his pocket. Their fans took every other opportunity to have a go at Anthony Taylor and sitting in the kop, I had to put up with that!

Their pen was at best a soft one and one of their headers in the second half that just went over and wide shouldn’t have counted anyway because there was a push on Matip which I don’t think the Ref spotted.

Had to keep my excitement in check hahaha. I just knew Coutinho would find the net with that free-kick. All day long it was going nowhere else. He was truly wonderful today and the Leicester players didn’t know what to do with him at all.

Full marks too to Salah who was one of the most industrious of players working tirelessly and genuinely contributed in defensive areas.

I have to say for all the criticism he gets, Henderson orchestrated the middle of the park allowing Can license to pose a threat forward Top Man, although he was getting in the face of the Ref a lot of the times haha.

The same could be said for Mignolet who made crucial saves and I’d say he would probably be man of the match not just for keeping us in the game, but getting over the finishing line. Apart from Moreno, Gomez a little on the quiet side along with Wijn, this is a win we can be use as a platform register on the board some wins

A hard fought victory that might have finished the other way, but right from the start, I never doubted us

                      YNWA 🙂

M Wake, thanks for the reply.

All said by yourself is true and totally agreed upon.

Nobody so far has mentioned the factual point in the Manager choosing to keep faith in some of the players he inherited.

And even if he did want a complete ‘wipeout’ (which I don’t believe he did/does), the way the modern day transfer windows are, it’s just not possible to address a transitional period overnight.

I understand concerns and venom thrown in the direction of our forever problem, however as far as tenure goes, Klopp should be afforded more time.

Would that be anything to do with his philosophy of Gengenpressing?

                            http://www.empireofthekop.com/2015/10/06/explaining-jurgen-klopps-4-2-3-1-gegenpressing-tactic-and-fitting-liverpool-stars-into-it/

The fact that the midfielders, wing backs, and the box-to-box player all adopt a high line from the start and in abundance, push up attack the opposition with the defence taking care of itself?

Albeit Van Dijk, maybe Klopp’s not gone specially out of his way to bring in more defenders, but instead has reprised Alberto Moreno?

Obviously disappointing to head for an early exit when we should be looking at this as an opportunity to home in on silverware, but I honestly feel it was harsh on us in the turn of the events.

Leicester got their breaks as they only really turned on the screw in the second half.

The problem for us now is that our goals have now dried up.

I couldn’t echo more on the emphasis of a 20 goal man. We have prospects with the youngsters, but they are all the same level and when Mane and Salah (maybe Firmino) are not in the fold we now find ourselves struggle at the other end.

Albeit Klavan, I wasn’t too disheartened with the defence and it was good to see both Robertson and Flanagan.

Going into the game on Saturday, although the pressure on the back of tonight possibly has heightened, I believe we’ll be good enough to grab hold of all 3 points and get back to winning ways.

Genuinely encouraging half in spite of not being ahead. A lot of the time, we are here discussing some concern about our defenders, but so far tonight, there’s no reason to feel that at all.

In fairness soaking up the possession, our midfielders are supporting the attack than against recent games. I expected more out of Leicester, but have seen very little – Vardy clearly missing for them when trying to find somebody to release the long ball too.

Solanke has been a bright spark for us, but just needs that little bit of luck and something to fall land straight onto his lap. Robertson the most impressive for me in this match up to now.

Bright and an impressive start from the Reds. Even with the changes, they look quality; passing the ball well, but significantly strong in retaining possession.

Solanke almost broke the deadlock – pleased with Wijn so far as he’s showing a lot industry and poise to threaten Leicester’s defence.

I genuinely wish him well. He’s young and has a whole life ahead of him. Many footballers once retired don’t really realise they have a whole life ahead of them and effectively, they could potentially go into almost anything they want.

Robbie Fowler went into property, and I think there’s a well known former Chelsea player that went and studied an undergraduate degree.

Some just fall into punditry, and from my point of view in that particular capacity, there’s a little too many on the market – refreshing to see somebody do something different for a change.
