I did post a reply or tried to post a reply around this time yesterday, but the site crashed or something, and didn’t have time around that as I was on a 12 hour shift.
Anyway, Brian, I actually agree with you there and maybe with me being on a football forum/message board for a number of years maybe contribution to more bitter feelings and not just being able to enjoy a football match.
Not only that, the way Liverpool play, it’s like sunshine and rain, and that comes within one set of 90 mins with last Saturday’s game being a prime example. And this combined with Seville too. It’s the manner of it that gets me down, at times quite badly.
I’m actually better off away from here in which I like my job. I was thinking to myself that I’ve been posting, but in the last decade or so have seen very little success of trophies. Divine right or not, this is England’s second most successful club and when you don’t have anything to shout about for recent years, it’s soul destroying when reflecting and maybe comparing yourself to others.

I’d have to take the time to research it, but over the 25 year or so period of the rebranding of top the top flight league, I think Newcastle one season went something like 10 or so straight wins.
I can’t say re the title odds because back in that time, we didn’t have such accessibility of digital info like we do now.
I actually have a little bit of admiration for Man United’s 2003 title win because I think Arsenal threw it away after having quite a wide lead.
Also remember when Itv used to host ‘The Premiership’ and Liverpool 2001/02 themselves held a 10 point lead or something around October.
I personally believe these odds made are purely down to the manner in which City have won their fixtures combined with not being defeated.
The Bookmakers who think they have some sort of crystal ball, I sincerely hope they are proven wrong. The slight trouble is, albeit maybe United and Chelsea, the others is terms of threat for contenders will short.

I don’t particularly have a problem in principle with clubs having investors. This whole thing actually sort of started with Blackburn, but that was more ‘in-house’.
United and the Glazers took it to another level back in the early 00s.
We know all the rest. It’s when I’m told with ours we’re not going to get anywhere and win trophies. The reality is, there’s no point me busting a blood vessel on here getting all upset, but Fenway won’t change and we need new owners. Until that doesn’t happen, we’re stuck with what we got.

Hightown, good point.
To be fair, I was only having a laugh given they are our Merseyside rivals. But on the pitch, they have been awful – look at Ashley Williams for instance.
Steve Claridge made almost the same point during yesterday’s commentary on 5 live. In my view, there’s teams that don’t deserve to be in the top flight or their time is up. I’m not saying Everton is one of them, but on the flip side of this coin, Huddersfield have been a breath of fresh air, so maybe next summer, we’ll see more new blood from the Championship come in and mix it up with the big boys making the PL even more exciting.

Just a point on the Ownership and Investment. When it has come to genuine grievance of Fenway, I’ve never seen any comment made by an Man United or a Man City supporter.
Roman Abramovic (what was it, 2003?)
No comment thrown when Chelsea Managers are sacked almost yearly. 14 or so trophies they’ve scooped and they’ve had their enjoyment. Let’s not kid ourselves. I’ve every right to voice an opinion on the owners I don’t care, because bar a League Cup in 2012, there’s nothing to show since 2006 and that is not good enough for Liverpool Football Club.
Why can’t people sincerely on here for instance champion or harness that in their veins? This is THE second most successful club only one trophy behind Manchester United.
I have never in my life had anything thrown from either of the Manchester clubs on voicing a grievance on ownership matters and a testament to them as I feel as though at least they know where I am coming from.
What ambition do Fenway have in terms of trophies that’s my question and a sincerely and blood and breathe valid one.
We need to win trophies and Liverpool should win trophies, otherwise what is the point?
Shall I just participate on this forum to ‘accept’ what I don’t like to read daily, that we will just won’t win anything for 5,10,15,20 years?

Lol, hahaha 😀
I did genuinely read recently the 999 number used frequently from East London concerning West Ham – can’t believe any human being would stretch as far as that.
I must say being a Liverpool supporter, I’ve been there and although poking a bit of fun at others, I admittedly split hairs than many when things are going well. The most darkest times was when we had Hicks and Gillette. That was scary because I just believe they would never budge.

Lol, can’t help but be a little mischievous when Kenwright to be removed was called in by one of the callers on the phone-in tonight 😀
It was more the way it was aired, but he definitely had a valid point.
Yep, Unsworth is definitely not the answer and I agree with one of the other callers calling out for a clean sweep which is what they need.
I may have jinxed it now as they’ll probably end up picking up a draw when they meet us soon at Anfield, hahaha 🙂 🙂

Chucky, sound point. Many years ago there used to be what was known as the Pontins League. There were proper B grade teams that offered scope for young kids. I rarely read anything nowadays on surrounding that and I don’t even know would you believe if a proper reserve Liverpool team for example exists.

Good to listen to both sets of Managers post-match. Guardiola recognized and praised the account delivered from the Terriers and knows that turnaround was no walk in the park. He acknowledges there’s likely to be more of that in future games and is also prepared for an eventual first defeat. His key message is how is City team responds from adversity.
It boils down to what the scoreline is after 90s minutes and in spite of everything Huddersfield gave, it was always going to be a huge task to uphold whatever lead they had or containing Man City on an even keel. Maybe some hope out there for opposition teams, but this blue team of Manchester simply so far is unstoppable.

Bricklayers Arms, it’s a lot harder for younger players to break into the first 11 for those reasons you’ve highlighted. Ideally, the best approach so that progression isn’t hindered would be integrating them in small doses (2-3).
It’s also down to that individual too to make most of his opportunity by doing everything he can to impress all parties. And that comes with the significance of then holding on to that player to allow him to grow and build his experience.

Arsenal have just scored a pen!
That is heartbreaking for Burnley.
Elsewhere, Everton are a real shambles at the mo. Southampton aren’t that good but that thrashing says more about the Toffees. No doubt, they’ll be up for our match in a few weeks time.

Mav 73, that was once in a lifetime my good friend. You’re right in what you say. I wonder if something like this though would happen again in the not too distant future.

Bricklayers Arms, you’re right. Some common ground with both us guys in not being able to hold on to our best players, though of late there is a little restraint, i.e. from our point of view Coutinho (though eventually, he will be a goner), and commended loyalty from Harry kane.
There needs to be time and trust put in and not just getting rid of a manager by being hasty. I think so far Posh has been right for you guys when it comes to building something together over a course of time. I would sincerely love for Spurs to win a trophy as I would with my lot.
We are bedding in youngsters like Trent-Alexander-Arnold, and Ben Woodburn, but do feel we lack an old-head 30 something to offer that leadership and experience.
I suppose if we want to allow this to happen organically, then we have to deal with the rough and smooth of indifferent results – something in which of late, Liverpool have been accustomed to.

Chucky, that’s spot on mate.
It’s not just about an investor being able to throw bucket loads of money, it’s the full package for me such as having a vision on the pitch;
– development of players
– technique
– training
– a range of different tacticsI know that all comes within the management team and they are left and trusted upon to get on with their day to day running, but there should be somebody appointed in between the owner and Jurgen Klopp to be able to intervene and say these individual players are just not good enough and shouldn’t be considered in the first 11.
This has to come from people who have experience and understanding of the game and unfortunately, I don’t see any remote interest from FSG other than how it can benefit them financially.
Being wealthy or profiting means nothing to supporters and they don’t themselves take anything in their pockets. Their pleasure is the success made on the pitch and the culmination of trophies not to mention building a rich history to be proud of and look back on.

All valid points, people re the activity on the pitch, but it just seems to me for several years, even though managerial changes have been made, there’s been more of a backseat approach from the owners than a team of people putting it out there ambitiously that their vision is to win trophies.
At times, this club just feels like we’re stuck in the queue and being pegged back in our progress.

Chucky, it felt like a kick in the guts for us. A win would have been really nice, but it now seems to be the norm against the better sides that as soon as we score first, at some point or at the death of the game, we’re going to concede.
At Anfield too, we’re dropping points against the bigger teams above us, and economically, that’s not good enough. And yep, as mentioned last night, the atmosphere is just awful. How can the players be gee-d up if the supporters don’t even get behind them?

A lot of work commitments of late to focus on football, and really only watched properly the second half. First of all: Lallana is a little up his own back side; I mean, who was that to on the left hand-side after coming on. I had high hopes for this fella, but he’s just milking it on the back of the better players who are of genuine quality. I know it’s an injury and all the rest of it, but he is just annoying.
As for the result, I’m not too downbeat, but annoyed; why the hell is Anfield even a Library? Don’t they want to ‘be up for this game’? For heaven’s sake: Chelsea are ONE of our rivals point blank.
Unless we’re sort of like 5-0 up against the more determined opposition, there is a certainty we will crumble. That was just one great lob over the keeper – not really his fault, but just a wonderful finish. I really hate that guy because he played his part in (or forever will remind me in rubbing his nose to damage us winning the League Championship).
Salah is doing too much meaning that we really should have an Ian Rush, and/or a Robbie Fowler, but we simply don’t.
2 points dropped in a game we should have won. I love Jurgen, but purely and simply, this isn’t good enough and I’m really fed up and sick to the back teeth of settling for second best.
We are devoid of some serious good and proper 5-0, 6-0, even 7-0 routers, honestly: If the Model of us are ‘Gun-Ho’ then quite simply, we should be bulleting teams.

Jim, I’m more concerned in the way outcomes like this are presented. It comes across as sheer doom and gloom and perception in danger of not getting through to the second phase.
As you rightly point out, you can still be paired with good quality opposition when it comes to the draw.
It strikes me for many a year, some of us are just left feeling depressed with this feeling of being cagey of so called uncertaintly rather than celebratory and being able to loosen up.
