The problem is that of late, there has truthfully been wrong decisions made. This affects the supporters faith and confidence in Referees and whether a fair game can be delivered.
Not easy at the moment to take at face-value.

As a million times in multiplication of bias as this will sound, I take Jurgen Klopp as an exception. Wenger I actually hold respect for even though he can annoy me at times. I’m liking David Wagner guy with a decent heart in the right place. And Conte on the whole is Gentleman with decorum as with Pochetino.
However, the rest I find unlikeable for them either being monosyllabic, pre-empted, or just defensive and sarcastic.

4th January 2018 at 8:00 am in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #11003A common pattern on Arsenal-Leicester, Arsenal-Liverpool and Arsenal-Chelsea: all ended in a draw and the away team at one point were in a winning position. It may bring excitement, but that would annoy me if I was an Arsenal supporter.
And from an away team point of view, that would feel like 2 points dropped.

From own experience of playing and watching this, it seems Bellerin’s kicked at Hazard’s instep and side of toe which is vulnerable – think to when you walk into a bit of furniture bare-foot.
I’m not going to read into too much as I’ve not watched the game tonight. That’s my interpretation of it.
As for Refs, and trying to put their Refereeing to rights, I don’t have the personal strength at the moment. Let it be and do whatever you want.
I just hope we get through our cup game on Friday.

PPT, from listening to Hughes’ post match interview on the back of today’s defeat, he seemed quite upbeat and self-assured. Maybe he has genuine faith in his owners, but time will tell as to what happens.
Rafa sets his teams up the way he has done because Ashley won’t give him the funds. Bus Parker is a bit of a nick name and I don’t particularly like Newcastle in the Prem these days because of the way they play or are forced to play from circumstances but you might argue it is what it is, but on the evidence of what I saw from Palace yesterday, maybe one doesn’t have to park the bus for the whole of 90 minutes to gain a positive result.

Come on Everton – not too bad so far – can’t see United winning this, but could be proved wrong.

When I’ve watched games on BT Sport for example, they have Howard Webb in the studio and he goes out of his way to explain rationally without any bias.
That’s what I would like to see more, in our game. Managers I’m sure get fed up of chewing the ears of the officials and landing themselves some kind of a sanction.

1st January 2018 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Let's try and help Referees once and for all with realistic ideas/solutions #10776Pagan, that first line is spot on and I’m in full agreement of that. That’s the sensible and appropriate way of going about this.
It’s unlikely to be a constant stop-start and interjections, but this ultimately should only be on key decisions.
I don’t think on percentages we’re seeing Referees making half-a-dozen bad calls. Largely those contested are marginal and part and parcel of what makes our game great to watch.
Wouldn’t want the affair as you quite rightly point out robotic.
Cheers

I thought Klopp got it 90% right this afternoon with his rotation. I felt based on the selection of the 11, Lallana for example had more involvement which really pleased me and notably his work rate and support to protect the defensive was hugely impressive.
Solanke is given more game time too, however, just felt maybe we’re a Salah type of player short just to provide us the cutting edge and be clinical.
Kudos though to Emre Can with his levels of fitness working tirelessly like Lallana. Still one or two Cobwebs surrounding our defence, but felt we gave a much more of a better account of ourselves than the team fielded August 2016.

The flip side and the potential adverse effects we could or already are facing is those genuinely fouled in the box won’t be awarded a Penalty.
This just seems to me to be an unresolved loop.

Bus Parker has probably costed Hughes his job. Had an incline Newcastle would get something out this – beautiful cross field ball played in the run up to the goal – every Striker’s dream to have it put on the plate, meet it and put it away.

Smash and GRAB – YYYYYYYYYYYYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally some grit, spirit, drive and the will not to give up for ALL 3 POINTS!
Raglan Klavan OF ALL PEOPLE!!! HAHAHA 😀
I love it. 5 Accas of mine now coming so close – gonna reign that in for a bit but 3 straight Christmas Premier League victories strengthens our 4th place and gives us a breather to take a step back, regroup and aim to finish even higher.
A massive 3 points and absolutely DELIGHTED!!!!!!!!!

1st January 2018 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Let's try and help Referees once and for all with realistic ideas/solutions #10761Pagan, point 4 relates to whoever is monitoring the television can overrule or challenge the Referee’s call if he/she feels otherwise.
We need to think seriously about the VAR.
The diving instances can be sorted out by point number 3 – they just need to group together weekly and run through each incident.

For those that are fanatical, you can beat a bit of Erasure. Long live Vince Clarke and Andy Bell who are still filling those arenas.
1 – A little respect
2 – Sometimes
3 – Stop
Enjoy 🙂
Speaking of guilty pleasures, love this one from Bananarama circa 1984
And 2017!!

Nine, fair dos mate. I appreciate and understand, but don’t give up hope that’s all I’m saying. You guys have done well considering you lost one of your prolific strikers in Costa, plus losing Matic to a Competitor.
Good healthy league, and from that point of view, I wouldn’t want the title race wrapped up so quickly and easily.
Cheers

Pagan,
it’s just that they’ve been a bit too previous for my liking. I don’t think Coutinho Liverpool shirt sales prior to this would be that high in volume as many supporters you would think would be aware.
The little tots and juniors may want one though and something like this would just confuse them.
Not the end of the world, it’s happened and the downsides sadly of the World Wide Web.

Nine, a few of the loaned individuals away should fetch us a few bob or two. Besides I thought we were good for net spend.
I really don’t know why this has been brought into this particular thread and as mentioned in my previous reply, as a supporter I’m more bothered what we do on the pitch than a loss that will be made up soon anyway.
Ironically, lots of other targets reported are on Klopp’s list.
I’m actually optimistic for 2018 and hope Coutinho should he leave goes on a high with a trophy.

Nine, even if it doesn’t happen by your theory and logic, would you rather you did everything to push City all the way and come finishing close, or be casual and be runners up by 20 points?
Obviously after 38 games, it doesn’t polish the runners up place any shinier and ultimately the history books don’t give a damn, but I always say it’s something to build on and besides, by adopting this attitude and aiming high, you are allowing 2nd place to take care of itself because as it stands a 5 teams at least stand a realistic chance.

I believe there are potential sales in the pipeline ala Can and Sturridge. Personally, I’m not too bothered about any losses made. As a supporter, it’s what happens on the pitch that matters to me. Besides, we’re generating heaps from tv revenue and plus the CL games we have been involved in.
We should fetch a good whack for Phillipe this summer.

Wimbledon in the 1990s Rob Tab. From afar, I’ve got a lot of time for Palace and I hope they stay in the top flight for years to come. Not an easy place to go and take something away.
As long as it’s fair within the rules and no maliciousness, I have no problem with their gritty style of play and it beats parking the bus and running down the clock wasters any day of the week.
There are teams however that always take it a bit too far, and that’s why I hate Merseyside derbies at times. Look what happened last season when Mane was injured and he was out for quite a bit. No official batted an eyelid.
United of that mid early to mid 90s coped with the rough and tumble because they had individuals like Ince, Keane who could take it and give it back.
