1991 was a bad year for us on the back of Kenny’s resignation. But I’m sure league-wise we were left with a good and a winnable position as far as the League Championship meant.
Ronnie Moran short term was godsend to keep everything afloat. It’s Souness that messed everything up for us with his anger and misery. It was all downhill for us, afterwards.

This led to Kenny Dalglish handing in his resignation.

Mav, fully welcome your thoughts mate. I remember from my days in working in Birmingham knowing a Manager I worked with who was an Arsenal Supporter it stemmed effectively from then the argument of Viera not being addressed.
He has served, won trophies, brought in beautiful football and players, but as you quite rightly point out, supporters for many years have been left to feel short-changed.
Cheers

Chucky, hahaha, yet there are still calls from People like Neville that more money needs to be spent on players.

One thing I will say in favour of Pep is that he genuinely has a nous and sound intentions to develop and integrate young players into the first team. I don’t see him totally as THE cheque-book Manager.

A great shame we don’t like characters like Neil Warnock in the game these days – Pep and Jose have had it too cushty!!!!!

And here’s a classic example – new year this time last year! Jose too is no angel!

Anything in excess of 130 mil and hopefully Tomas Lemar is part of the plan.
Blame the Saints for holding us to ransom on Van Dijk!

Let’s put it this way, Pep’s no angel and I can’t for the life of me figure out why some people laud him the way they do. Some of his interviews on the mic last season were bad. As he’s got it good this year, he’s chilled out, typical, but then, that’s like many these days in the modern game.

4th January 2018 at 10:55 pm in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #11069On Radio commentary Gents. I honestly don’t think Moyes is that type of Manager like a Pulis who could deliberately try to frustrate a team and bore some of us for the entire 90 mins.

I just think in Jose’s case these days, management simply brings the worst out of him.
I haven’t seen him smile for a long time.

4th January 2018 at 9:08 pm in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #11031VAR is essentially a Video Assistant Referee who in theory would be to assist the Head Ref on Goals Penalties and Red Cards.
This so far being in circulation essentials is on trial and not formally approved as something in place for the future. I would like to add Off-sides and Simulation to the above key components listed.
It might essentially be CCTV, but it’s not there to cause a constant disruption, but there in place to assist the Referee.
You can still be entertained with enthralling matches, but meaning a more fair game and cleaning up on any wrongdoing caused by individuals that is impacting the course of the game and results.

4th January 2018 at 9:00 pm in reply to: Wednesday Night Footy (and maybe Thursday… whatever!) #11028Nine agree with you there re the Media outlets and delivering excessive coverage. There’s a mixture of them doing this for their own agenda naturally to attract the tweets, viewers etc and to try and project a message for officials out there in the game to take notice.
Whatever’s been going on for the last 100 years, the standard of Refereeing of late is critical than ever and a lot of that is down to the integrity of some footballers out there who are trying to cheat the rules.
One thing more than ever that irks me is the studio pundits having the brass neck to criticize the officials and in the same breath are championing ‘diving as part of the game’.
