Pagan, I totally can see that on your last from the evolution over the last 25 years.
And though I can see the enrichment, both of us may have to agree to disagree slightly in that I feel there is a percent where it has damaged the seeds planted here and why we have less and less English or British players involved in top flight football.
My conclusion.

Rest In Peace Cyrille. So good tributes I hope before the start of today’s matches across the country.

Isn’t that a better deal?
Why are people drooling over Sanchez, that’s the whole thesis of this thread.
There are plenty more fish in the sea. It’s how you go about your scouting!

I’m not saying to completely dismiss buying from abroad, I’m saying don’t completely vacuum yourself away from players closer to home who actually aren’t going to cost a club as much as people assume.
And even if you do end up having to spend more, you’ll have quality homegrown.
Our National Team has a dearth of quality players coming through and what’s the point of Academies in place?

Lots of good fixtures to look forward to this Weekend.
We don’t have to play till Monday, so no worries for the time being for us.
Hopefully some interesting results and twists!

19th January 2018 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Facelift for Match Of The Day: Presenter and 'Pundits' #13089Last line spot on Alfie; seem over-indulged and not going by their heart for what they stand for.
I’m wondered and suspecting whether that’s BBC thing as they really are too aware of the PC Brigade and effectively Pussycats mastered and seemingly dominated by the EU.

19th January 2018 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Latest Title Odds – Is it still a foregone conclusion? #13088Alfie, haha, thankyou mate. I’ve genuinely met good people out of this one being yourself.
Plus others on here that I recognise as caring.
Wouldn’t it be good if we all had one common ground?
DirtyHarry, wonderful to see you transfer on here, genuinely remember enjoying a good Political Debate with yourself. It’s a lift and a reminder to why I am here. Thanking you X

Thought about buying Ronnie’s new book Double Kiss.
Just a wonderful human-being. It seems there’s a feeling of him being resentful towards Barry Hearn and for good reason. This individual is a remainder of the old skool cloth and one that will remain his own man thanks to the continuous support of DR Steve Peters.

19th January 2018 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Latest Title Odds – Is it still a foregone conclusion? #13082I’ve had 10 years of Teamtalk, and my biggest regret is going back to Teamtalk, as Liverpool have only ever one 1 Trophy since 2006 in 2012, and if feels as though largely, I’ve wasted an avenue trying to give it my all.
Goatistuta, for me, it’s been about trying to find solace and common ground and at best for 10 years, I’ve had 3%. That’s because I fell at the hands of rival clubs, but found something decent in Individual Club Forums, something in which they stripped away and I’m talking about clubs outside the Premier League.
The Best Editor long gone looking back was just sheer Sparkling Presence. He has his own life now and rightly so and we won’t get him back, but would love to share a conversation and a Pint.

19th January 2018 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Sanchez: layed all eggs in one Basket – Fundamental problem in English Football #13081It’s too exhausting honestly by mind as I want to try and relax, but it was something about the Premier League in it’s transformation from Division One in which it came across to thrive on buying players from abroad whilst at the same time, distancing and what comes across as disregarding and devaluing teams from the other 3 Divisions, plus the Scottish League.
I’ve never seen in my life a Heart of Midlothian player move to Liverpool and surely he would be better than Raglan Klavan and Alberto Moreno and that’ my problem and point in being steered to narrow-minded and one-sided thinking.
It has a reflection too on our National Team and it’s so contradictory.

Put a lot of time and thought in that too. A mission to have to try re-write all that as this was long – talk about picking your moments!

Nine fair points mate.
Referee’s are under a lot of pressure and microscope at the moment. This is just my own point of view, but other than Howard Webb and Mark Halsey, I’m not really keen on hearing the input of ex-Referees.
I don’t think too certain studio pundits and that goes for the radio too have been particularly supportive so far of the technology and the refs. Just feel as though no matter what they try and do, they are castigated.
I sincerely hope though something in good can come out of this new facility and this Sport can be perceived in a more better light that projects a fair game.
Cheers

Personally, I’m trying to get my head around as to where exactly Sanchez will slot? He’s an attack-minded type of guy. Jose tends to hold back with just one at the top rather that a direct 4-3-3 which I feel would have suited Sanchez more.
If anything, Man City would be a much better move. What do I know though?
There’s loads of players there already in Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Lakaku, Lindgard, Mata, and Mikhitariyan. Plus Fellani and Young on the fringes.

Exactly, Pagan, I’m a mug. I’m a mug for spending hours and hours giving my opinions and receiving nothing in return. My free-time or downtime is wasted earning zilch.
VAR is not about keeping the candle lit for talking points, it’s about assisting and supporting Referee’s to make an accurate call.
What I was trying to say is that the Ref is afforded a second opinion from the Linesman and another from the 4th official.
I don’t know what processes are in place as it’s pretty much all sketches at the moment in trial and error.
I’m just annoyed that some people out there are loosely just wanting to write off an idea before it’s even been allowed a real opportunity of a breakthrough. They can moan for another 15 years if that’s what they feel satisfies them as ‘talking points’.

Alfie, spot on.
And here’s the thing which itself is ‘damn if you do and damn if you don’t’:
There’s moans of this all being time consuming and holding up the game, yet, there is what I feel excess time spent in the Studio after the game by Pundits ‘reviewing’ and ‘analysing’ the incident from several different camera angles.
The DNA of a Referee is to take one maybe two looks or get hold of one or two different opinions, make his decision and move on swiftly to maintain the flow of the match. It’s ultimately not his accountability if a team is Relegated or a team doesn’t make it to the Champions League.

Pagan, true. There’s nostalgia, and then there’s dwelling on a Penalty Decision that’s not going to be overturned. We’ve had a shed load of decisions go against us, I could give you a long list 🙂
