Nine, I kind of get the feeling in relation to yesterday’s interview on Sky News, Carragher was already placed in a disciplinary meeting.

He genuinely seemed remorseful to me which changed my mind about him keeping his job.

A sad state of affairs and it’s the world we live in. The Saints took a punt on Pellegrino, but wouldn’t it have been nicer if one of their own former legends was at the helm in the first place?

The way in majority our media and journalists operate, they are more deterred than encouragement to come forward and pursue a career in Management.

Carragher’s actions have probably set a precedent for the rest of the Premier League. I think players now will be even more cautious and keep themselves to themselves.

It’s a shame for innocent loyal supporters who are genuine fans of those players – potentially even more difficult for them to get an autograph and/or a photograph.

As far as reaction goes, this country and now society from some quarters tells you just how people are:

quick to bring the moral compass and really kick a man when he is down. I am loathing more and more the way social media is being used. There is a camera every where you go, or people are quick to pluck out their phones to film you.

And what’s ironic is that characters like Vinnie Jones and Joey Barton readily come out with an opinion. It’s a joke.

Carragher landed himself straight into something that seemingly was tee’d up before-hand.

I think at the moment, because of the recording that exposes him in sheer disgust, he himself deep down feels shocked and remorseful.

What struck me is that he was driving a bigger vehicle than the fool that provoked him and had tinted windows. He couldn’t see and I just don’t understand why he would wind down his window rather than driving past quickly.

It does seem there’s slightly more to this than meets the eye and it is alleged that the daughter concerned and the family collectively have actually backed Jamie to keep his job and have pleaded to SKY.

I think there could be a reprieve, but I can’t see him returning now for the rest of the season, so maybe once this all blows over into distance, then Carra will reappear.

I think too, the time away from TV could allow him an opportunity to work with the community in some kind of a coaching/mentoring role to gain some fulfilment and show others the better side of him.

You can bet your bottom dollar, this will be raised on this week’s Question Time 😉

Just seen a clip on you tube and the victims connected apparently have wrote “don’t wipe it off” to claim ‘compo’!

I used like Gallacher a lot when she was younger. In recent times when I have seen her on the screens, she’s given the impression she’s had too much to drink, either the night before or has consumed some during the day.

I get she has had it difficult after dealing with a separation, but they way she has dealt with that is not the answer, especially when you’re a Mother.

Each case is judged on it’s own merit.

The other problem is that the footage recorded on Carragher which is plastered everywhere for people to see and that in itself is goading the image of Sky with the reminders, and so, not easy for it to be swept away.

                      Carra’s a goner.

Pagan, I have a gut feeling he’s likely to be permanently dismissed from Sky anyway.

Before I go back to Carragher, I hope first off that driver who physically recorded this footage will have the Police and the DVLA come down on him like a ton of bricks.

What’s awful to see is his reaction as a Parent. He sort of laughs off in sarcasm after just seeing his own daughter spat at.

On Carragher himself, after watching that video when he’s actually on Sky premises, he may as well have been placed on trial following the way in which the presenter probed and guilt tripped him.

He does seen genuinely apologetic. I think he should be kept on in terms of his employment, but maybe consider placing him into a different role; maybe on Soccer Saturday with some of the other gents and away from Liverpool games.

Before I stress my main point, spitting on another human being is quite simply despicable.

When I read about this at work mid-morning, I thought instantly of disgust towards him and that he should lose his job with Sky in spite of this not being a work related incident.

As time has gone on however and having just seen his interview on Sky News, I think he should be given another chance (only just).

I don’t want to excuse Carragher’s actions, and I’m not even a big fan of him, his punditry or when he was in Liverpool colours, but I want to make this point of Sky allowing somebody so close to Liverpool to analyse such a fierce contest between bitter rival clubs. I don’t even think Neville should be involved too following what happened with Jose. These guys are too closely connected. They can take forever misery guts Souness away too!

A lot of pundits I now see on the mainstream screens essentially have just come out of football and either late 30s early 40s. Where are the older type of gentlemen we used to see like Trevor Brooking? You need somebody impartial.

Carragher allowed the defeat to consume him and talking about the faults in where it went wrong for Liverpool might have made him feel even more disappointed, so he finally leaves the ground, and this fan in the car has tries a bit of a laugh and what might have been kicking a bottle of water instead turned into spitting towards the car as a moment of raised anger.

                                  C Man,

Based on your first point, doesn’t that boil down to ‘home comforts’ and culture?

From a single blokes point of view, putting the ‘financial package’ to one side, there must be something too that attracts them to want to play in England, initially?

I’d like to make the point too on this subject that we’ve historically placed ourselves as inferior rather than placing the Union Jack and being proud as a nation. Even so too our top flight league more than ever to be a money-making ‘commodity’.

The issue for me wanting to build something and longevity is the growing fear in trying to hold on to someone once his head has been turned.

As far as I believe only examples in Ryan Giggs, Steven Gerrard and John Terry have resisted to move abroad.

Nine, you’ve done exceptionally well out of Hazard mate.

I’m happy to accept that prerogative from players when deciding on their move. I rather we had somebody in our team that’s committed than just quite simply a journeyman.

The point is that to me, based on attitudes of some fanatics, qualifying for the Champions League is the be-all-end-all, if you can’t win the league, and when it comes to shopping for players, EVERY club heads in the same direction being Europe.

There are very little homegrown players nurtured and very little to take a punt from somebody from a lower league club or Scotland.

Everything for the last 20+ plus years has hinged on signing a player from Europe.

As far as recent history goes, clubs in England are sort of used as a stepping stone, so as soon as Barcelona or Real show a glimmer of interest, that is game over.

One caller on 606 today was spot on about West Ham. As a fan myself, I can’t stand neither David Gold nor Karen Brady.

There is something I believe unique about the Hammers as an identity and the East End part of London in which they represent.

This caller was 100% on the money when he mentioned how demolishing Upton Park simply ripped out the HEART.

I completely agree. These ‘executive’ decisions made by ‘Business’ people for one second do not have any of the supporters best interest at heart, none at all.

Supporters these days are referred to as ‘Customers’. It’s an INSULT by fabric to those especially part of a community who have devoted their lives.

Highbury Stadium, another example. Arsenal faithful closer to the goal than they could ever be at the Emirates. Another move in which I for one never liked at all as Highbury had a distinctive identity, as with effectively all grounds and surrounding amenities.

The silly thing about this all, as that these new stadiums even at the best of times I suspect are not even properly filled.

One West Ham fan expressed in having to pay £70 for a game. That’s just beyond comprehension.

But, there you go. This is the other side of what our top flight league represents – a money making machine.

C Man, good to see you back on here and hope you keep posting.

I was just thinking back to my post on this particular thread earlier today about preciousness and from what’s come about from the Spurs win leaving us now in 4th position.

I just feel as far as the mindset and the attitudes go, some fans (me included to a degree) that qualifying for the Champions League means the prospect of better players coming to or ‘filtering’ to clubs in England.

We know as underlying, money talks a great deal not to mention Agent influence. Something earlier Danny Kelly’s programme tonight re Talksport making on a sort of a trivial level how the last English player or players to play for Barcelona were Mark Hughes and Gary Lineker.

Haha, now that effectively was a another generation ago. Why we don’t seem to be able to produce through our academies more English players I don’t know. We might not then have this ‘scaremongering’ of players not wanting to join us from another continent because we’re not involved in the Champions League.

Money is a double-edged sword and whilst it of course enriches a club financially to go onto better things, there is also a hindrance and that being trophies ala both the FA and the League Cup are not taking as seriously.

I refer to my own club. Yes, I’d like us to finish second and as strongly as possible for THAT very reason, and in all honesty too, I’d like for us to push all the way to the final of the European Cup.

Otherwise just clinching 4th even though it genuinely is a tough battle given the competition of 5/6 capable teams in my eyes isn’t really an achievement to be proud of year in year out.

There are no trophies rewarded and it stipulates nothing in the history books or actual representation of Honours.

Wow, didn’t even know this was being played today. Just checked on the BBC Football page and Celtic are 3-2 up. It’s at Ibrox too and I’m a Rangers fan.
