Leading up to Christmas before Boxing Day, we have 4 league games:
Newcastle Away
Everton Away
Fulham Home
Tottenham AwayI still think we rode our luck a bit with Southampton. I’m not quite sure where people are getting Van Dijk being the all time best centre half. He has been brilliant sure, but he has a lapse in him. We need Konate back and although there are players that can step in, here lies the problem with our defence and injuries.
Gravenberch a Key player for us and probably now a regular starter and the new Gini. I would still like a Milner type of player to come off the bench, offer us experience and calmness and see us get over the line in games.
It’s possible to predict highly in percentages that we won’t get all 12 points. 8 Points out of this would be good. If Jota can return at this moment in time and get back to scoring, that would be a huge boost.

2nd December 2024 at 8:51 pm in reply to: Weekend Football Gameweek 13 – Nothing Special :-) #216657Finished on a 12 hour; extremely busy. Just looked at online sites elsewhere and I am so glad no other Liverpool fan in majority is buying too much into this Title Talk. Pep wins 3 matches on the bounce and before you know it, people will start to think a little differently or entirely change their tune.
I do see similarities to us in the way they play the high line and their midfield being overrun; Gundogen past his peak. No De Bruyne as a Regular; Bernardo too much responsibility to contain; wide men needed.
Gunners and Chelsea look threatening you have to take them as serious.

2nd December 2024 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Weekend Football Gameweek 13 – Nothing Special :-) #21665619/20 comparison made, but that was different as we had different players back then. Competitiveness was different.
I just think if anything, we’ve over-achieved slightly.
Things can change quickly.

1st December 2024 at 9:33 pm in reply to: Weekend Football Gameweek 13 – Nothing Special :-) #216654That’s it Sean. I still remember March and talks about the Quadruple etc. We need to see how we fare on Wednesday against Newcastle. Plus Everton will be super up for it Saturday lunch time, so points could be dropped.
The good news is that our defence of late ala Virgil in particular in solid form. Kelleher too; immense. Gravenberch growing better and better in that role. Zobo rolling up his sleeves. So these are good signs for us.
Plus of course, certain players returning from injury, but yeah, not to get carried away. Pep has won 6 Titles and Respect to him. At some point the very best go through a bad patch and experience that part of the cycle. Looks like this is where City are at the moment.

1st December 2024 at 6:20 pm in reply to: Weekend Football Gameweek 13 – Nothing Special :-) #216652Can’t believe it. Unless you count Dias and the De Bruyne ‘efforts’, there was virtually no shots on goal throughout the whole match as I recall from City.
Van Dijk’s almost best game of the season; though he has that slight mistake and thank goodness for Kelleher. Needed the second goal desperately.
Reminded me a little of when we played Man U at Anfield nearly 30 years ago on Sky Sports when we were sitting on a 1 nil for a long time only for Fowler to seal it late on.
I think Pep’s written off City himself. I don’t think it was sarcasm of any nature, but he knows at this moment in time, he can’t get a tune out of them. A few weird things seemingly going on behind the scenes; why didn’t Grealish start? Why isn’t De Bruyne starting? Haaland virtually absent.
Proud of Liverpool and good start to the month, but nothing is won and points lead can be lost quite easily. We need to focus this week on 2 difficult matches away from home. Zobo and Gravenberch very good today. Good to see Trent back and nice to see the return of Harvey Elliot. I’ll be a lot happier seeing Jota return.

1st December 2024 at 4:52 pm in reply to: Weekend Football Gameweek 13 – Nothing Special :-) #216642Sitting on a 1 nil lead and not adding to it was tenterhooks and needed to get through the first half which we have managed. Not a shot on target so far from City, so that’s an encouraging sign. They’re clearly missing width. Not sure really what Rico Lewis gives them. De Bruyne missed, Doku as well. Josko probably should have been selected to start, but hey-ho, it’s all good for us so far.

1st December 2024 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Weekend Football Gameweek 13 – Nothing Special :-) #216640Ederson dropped. Wow. Gvardiol also left out of the starting line up. No Konate for us. Good to see Trent back in the fold. We need his passing. Looks like a 4-3-3 set up for us.

28th November 2024 at 10:21 pm in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #216613Yeah, only really caught the tail end and seen Forster pull off a really vital save only for the equalizer moments late. Real shame and feel for Spurs.

26th November 2024 at 11:31 pm in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #216590I’m not sure whether this was during the Covid Lockdown season, but Liverpool went on quite a bad run and just lost the ability to even do the basics. I remember a certain Klopp expressing “we will sort this”.
Never seen this with Man City for over a Decade. Something Unique.

Sean, my work mate on Saturday prior to even kick off was gunning for Cooper to be sacked; he’s passionate about Leicester and he had enough of him; as of my other mate who went to the game.
Consensus being is the fear of going straight back down which Leicester wouldn’t be able to afford to do so given the prospective loss of Revenue from TV Deals and Gate.
Football’s not been pretty served by Cooper.

Leicester sacked earlier this evening Steve Cooper; rumour is that they want Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He won all his games when temporarily in charge of Man United.
Ruben’s merely landed and he’s going to need Time and Patience from all Quarters.
Probably today was about the sizeable job he has on his hands. He’s digging deep for his RECEIPT 😉
