Sean, hi mate. Yeah, all let gone of now mate. Nothing to begrudge of Newcastle and they deserve to live it large.
My thoughts are essentially moving forward and what can we now focus on and change to make it better?
We struggled to unlock their pack and it was strength and pace. It’s not that we don’t have this, it’s simply down to I think we’ve just ran out of it.
I do think we need a dribbler and somebody cunning that can find something out of nothing.

I’m reading it differently guys and there’s a correlation to how City suddenly faltered at the point of all this going on behind the scenes with them having some inside incline.
I don’t think it will be a slap on the wrist.

Albania first friendly, Friday Night. Dan Burn’s first game. Seems a good guy and pro so happy for him in getting this opportunity. TT’s first match too in charge.

Mikey F, some good points made; made me think about the days when the Transfer Window used to be open till the 31st, March. It really makes me wonder behind the scenes as to whether from pitch side, the board have been challenged as to whether or not there has been any vision rubbed-stamped to strengthening the squad?
I don’t like to say this, but FSG has done us a dis-service. No squad of this stature can compete and win All 4 Cup Competitions. A lot to some extent of it being justified, made of Slot not having faith in starting players beyond his regular 11. Maybe from what took place against Plymouth, that may have influenced him to be more cautious.
This was weeks back. Question Marks undoubtedly on Jota and Diaz. The Midfield look absolutely worn out. If you look at the example of Klopp’s squad that won the Title in 2020, we had Firmino and Mane as make up of a front 3, and still had good fringe players like Milner and Origi that were Gamechangers.
March is where the damage has happened in recent times, but somehow in 2022, we pushed Man City all the way. We’re in need of a lot of Pace and Aggression. Those are the type of players we need to be thinking about.
It has to now be the scope of Slot’s new era and the type of players he would like to bring in.

This is an example of a headline that in my view can be pick up by the media and misinterpreted https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football
The problem I’ve had in the past with Bruno is his conduct, but of late, he’s changed. The criticism and the backlash at the time was probably justified and having watched his interview with Sky yesterday, he was nothing but respectful and kind.

I don’t have a problem at all with Newcastle fans celebrating, including Shearer, and Ant and Dec!!
Joelinton, however did accentuate his expression a little bit too much y’day everytime he won a challenge. Maybe one our players could have exhibited that type of attitude and behaviour.
Everyone else from their side seem good; maybe it came as a surprise, but ultimately, they turned up and we didn’t and they wanted it more and deserved it.

Can’t lie, not feeling too great this morning to say the least. Didn’t really want to mention this, but in recent months, not been sleeping to great and have anxiety.
This is part of being on the other side of being a football supporter, dealing with set-backs. This all proves how quickly things can change. We were built up by the media about a Treble, and now we’re reduced to one Trophy and that in itself isn’t done yet.
Once the Inter breaks are finished, Arsenal play first and they could easily trim our lead to 9 points. We could draw the Mersey derby, then lose to Fulham because now, our confidence levels have been affected and Slot’s major job is to pick us up from this. Some out there will wait to see if we collapse.
This time of the year like last year is our weakness; overusing players, not investing the way we should do which has to be a must in the summer. Defenders and Attackers definitely needed. We can compete for 4 competitions, but inevitably will fold up once we reach a certain point of the season.
Maybe the timing of all this will help us with the 2 week break. If we can pick ourselves up and win 2/3 games in a row, this will definitely take away any doubt.

Yeah, just seen those highlights Ed; Bruno looks very chilled and happy; he’s been immense of late. Happy for Rasmus and Garnacho getting on the scoresheet. Leicester just doomed for the trapdoor unfortunately.

Well, one slight consolation for me; selected and captained Bruno and he’s got me 2 assists this evening! 🙂

Yeah Ed, been reading comments from our fans from different platforms online and do agree with comments on players overused. Slot has rightly been criticized in my view for not opting for alternatives e.g. Endo, Elliot, Chiesa as starters.
Also as a deep dive, I think we need to genuinely consider replacing the full-backs and a potential VVD replacement, maybe Salah too.
I am now understanding Ed where you were coming from the other day with the quality of the league and Arsenal. Maybe that’s been the good fortune of them not pushing us as much. Sure hope we don’t throw away a 12 point lead.

Ed, we were rubbish in the first half and didn’t turn up. Newcastle wanted it more than us. Jota really has been off it since coming back from injury. Nunez is Nunez and Salah was just blocked out first half.
It’s a little all over the place and the players playing regularly are tired. Hopefully after the inter break, we come back to life and win the 15 or so points we need.

Congratulations to Newcastle and their supporters who I believe will be eternally grateful for this achievement. To beat both Arsenal and Liverpool, this triumph is deserved.
As for us, I thought we would bounce back but really lacked any aggression and foothold in the first half. Credit to Newcastle playing like warriors.
If we can’t take this as another wake up call, more and more teams will be up for playing us and the 12 point lead could descend quite quickly.
Need to regroup and prepare ourselves over the international break for the Everton match. Need to take it game by game.

Apparently over the weekend, PSG rested their players.
We’re using the same players to accommodate multiple competitions and our bench is about Quansah, Endo, Elliot, Kostas. Gakpo playing last night I have no doubt in my mind would have found the net. I like Diaz loads, but against some opposition, he can struggle. Darwin is Darwin and will always be hit and miss. Can’t rely on Mo every-time and Zobo, Gravenberch and Macca really have ran out of steam.

Well, I don’t think we were going to score all night if Macca’s choice in the first half is to pull-back then attempt himself when he himself was in the best position first half. As with Diaz in the second: not shooting first time on sight.
PSG, after finding their way back into the tie through Dembele smelt belief of snatching the tie and they did.
I’m really not sure how a team that finishes top with an almost immaculate run of results from all those victories ends up crashing out in round 2. Doesn’t make sense. Surely there should be some kind of a point system of us qualifying at the very least for the Europa???
Anyway, I still think we lack depth in quality of the squad and we’ve maximized what we have and this will eventually catch up with the players. Jota is way off form coming back from injury and not the same player. Darwin is Darwin.
Quansah coming on every-time we have a problem with a full-back again??? We definitely need investment this summer.
The detractors surprise surprise have enjoyed this. What a society we live in that a sensible decent post to find is few and far between. “Bin Dippers” still used!
The players really felt this and I honestly have no doubt in my mind they will now be determined more than before to seal the League Cup this Sunday as well as the league title.
The Double would be brilliant to win. Let’s get our heads down and FOCUS!!!!!

Chucks, personally and the obvious player I’d want to hold down is Mo. VVD for experience and Alisson too. We just too to look at the areas where we can strengthen like Left-back, Right-back, a new Center half and a Striker.
Not to change it drastically over-night, but this is the thinking for a new era and transition POV.

Putting aside the issues of the so-called clubs expected to challenge or dominate, there are teams that really should be given the credit they deserve.
They have raised their standards and achieved progress in the league. What we have witnessed is these teams able to genuinely compete toe-to-toe against the Big-Boys. The points taken off one other reflects the league table as apart from Liverpool, Arsenal and Forest, there is a steady Gradient and the points gap between each place in the league isn’t significantly different (park aside, Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton). Many now as pointed out have been invested in. So we have Stadia, training grounds, coaching staff, player development/players bought.
Tactics and style of play is a little under-looked and teams approaching boldly without fear.
Man City undoubtedly have been one of a kind winning the League 4 in succession, but I think Rodri’s absence was the Catalyst in unmasking more than one flaw in Pep’s squad and first 11. He has a rebuilding job to do there’s no getting away from that.
Man United: In decline, no running away from that either and it’s going to take some time before they are even considered as a Top 4.
Chelsea: in gradual progression but it’s a matter for them to establish a best 11 and sticking more with the same then to change in frequency just because of the plethora of players they have at their disposal.
Arsenal: Saka has obviously been a miss. Arteta needs to come away from seemingly believe Odegaard, Trossard and Rice is enough of an attack to bring goals. Martineli and Saka is what’s needed more.
Liverpool without question have been lucky this season from an injury point of view. It looks like certain things have changed from Slot being at the helm against his predecessor Jurgen; largely, training/fitness/recovery as implement his tactics playing a 4-2-3-1.
Zobo, Gravenberch and Mac Allister have been instrumental for us this season and of course our hero Mo with his length of service and his goals-assists consistently throughout.
We have hurdles to overcome, but those are the factors and Slot and his Management Team to thank for what’s been achieved this season.

10th March 2025 at 10:32 am in reply to: Gameweek 28 – Weekend Football – All Plain Sailing? #21883121 7 lost only 1 all season
I’m starting to come round the thinking, it’s done. I can’t see the gunners win every game, and we only have 9 games left.
Better goal difference as well and we can afford to draw a few matches. Fulham and Spurs will be tricky but can see a Coronation as early as Easter Sunday or the first week of May when we meet Arsenal at Anfield.
Klopp will be making a welcome Return back to Merseyside 🥳💥💯💫👏🏻⚽️🎉🎊🎁
