Surrey Blue,firstly commiserations , when I saw the City lineup it straightaway reminded me of his selection in the first leg of last years CL quarter finals.He almost tried to match Spurs up rather than playing to City’s strengths ,if he had used his regular X1 there is no way would we have pinched a 1-0 .
You will strengthen this Summer for sure and City and Liverpool will be major threats next season’s CL.

Nor do I, that’s Merson stirring things nothing more than that,so I suggest Aubameyang to United, seems like a good fit to me and probably easier to prise away.

Sean , I agree Hojbjerg could be the anchor man we need allowing Lo Celso and Ndombele to create rather than defend, going forward I am happy, but our defence has gone from one of the best to one of the worst and we don’t have that many beer vouchers to spend to improve it.

27, unfortunately you’re right, Spurs can’t afford the quality they need to even look at top 4 next season a Europa place will be an achievement. Going forward with Kane, Sonny + 1 up front and Ndombele, Lo Celso and Hojbjerg is potentially very good.
The problem is our defence Toby & Lloris are good Taganga and Sess will be quality, but Dier, Davies and Aurier in my opinion are not good enough .
I can’t see us upgrading them to a level where we could have a sniff at a CL place I’d love to be proved wrong though , Jose’s biggest challenge ???

Sean, he arrived in the 2012 season and gave us 8 years for £9.5m, together with Alderweireld they were probably the best CB pairing in the league, he will be missed for sure.

I posted this on the wrong thread so I’ll try again.
It’s an understatement to say this season was a bit strange, very long and desperately sad, congratulations to Liverpool, City, Utd and Chelsea. Got to feel for the injuries Leicester picked up and for Wolves who dropped out of a Europa place on the last day. I wouldn’t begrudge them our spot if they won the Europa this season but that’s a long shot with a lot of very good teams still in it.
The PL has lost 2 of it’s greats in Silva and Vertonghen and won’t be the same next season without them.
The same 4 teams will fight for the title next season with the others priced out of any challenge, Spurs will be about as exciting as watching wood warp , Arsenal will do better if they can tighten up their defence ……a lot, sorry Steve.Leicester , Wolves , Arsenal and Newcastle if the takeover gets the nod will be in the mix for the Europa spots along with Spurs boring teams to death.

I started watching “Once upon a time in Iraq” on BBC I-Player and was instantly hooked and watched the lot yesterday, incredible program, which I won’t ever forget, and a must see.

27, You may be right about Jose & next season ,but the large majority of Spurs fans I know don’t like him or want him at WHL.
They may change their minds if he wins something but I can’t see happening, and if he doesn’t, will there be an exodus of our best players fed up with negative football, that’s my fear.

Arsenal got the tactics spot on , defence was strong and with a dynamic front 3 were always going to be dangerous on the break. Not one of City’s best showings last night, could that be down to Arteta’s game plan or just an off day ? I kept thinking how badly they needed the departed Sane on the left .
