I donโt think Nuno is a bad appointment, and he seems a similar figure to Poch in that heโll develop and get the best of what he has whilst also hopefully having more funds than at Wolves. Itโs a good sign he actually left Wolves himself when he could have stayed as it shows he was more ambitious.

I think we all accept the conservative approach isnโt a bad thing in one sense regarding knockout games where mistakes need to be minimised. But at some point we obviously have to start taking more risks to actually score and itโs ultimately about finding that balance and this is clearly what Southgate is grappling with in each game. Weโve found a way so far but that has been heavily dependent on Sterling who is a very positive player and can run with the ball into the final third. A high press on occasions can help, but isnโt really sustainable. Itโs a link man we really need in midfield. Not sure Henderson is that man. Thereโs Bellingham but heโs maybe deemed not experienced enough to be starting games. Yes he could come on later, but as Foxy says, this is effectively just playing the percentages and margins to stay in the game for longer then try and start going for it as the clock ticks down and the game starts opening up, but then both teams will potentially be more open. We really need a more thought out attacking plan earlier in the game which at least will lead us to having more chances and shots on target.

Hard to see Sancho not slotting right in. The end for Martial now?

Itโs a good point about his fitness Brian. I think heโs only missed 15 games through injury in the 6 years heโs been at City and itโs always good to have that reliability. I know he can frustrate sometimes and that last season wasnโt his best, but heโs generally delivered for you over the years. I think in years gone by clubs were more desperate to hold on to their players but now they have more freedom and money to be less attached to players and are keen to keep refreshing to keep the squad fresh. Also, City are obviously going to hold on to Pep for as long as they can, so if there are to be no changes in manager, changing the players is how you keep the squad fresh.

Will City be as willing to trade in Sterling now? (if reports are true) or will they see it as an opportunity to increase how much they can get for him?

I think the team is much less infected by the fierce club rivalries that have affected previous teams. And I think Southgate is very good at keeping the players grounded. Key question is if we can go up many more notches.

Agree Sean, need to show more positivity and movement up top, particularly through the middle. Sterling pretty much single handedly posed our main threat for a lot of the game today. If just one positive player like Sterling can make a big difference, then some more help will make an even bigger impact.

Sterling been the best player today. Most positive and one of few whoโs actually run at the opposition. Deserves that.

Could be a late dinner for everyone. Need that link man through the middle from midfield to attack.

Southgate at least has options to come on and doesnโt seem hesitant in making substitutions.

More togetherness Mike vs the egos in the bigger teams.

If you’ve got a bit of fight in you, it always increase your chances & a team like Denmark have very much demonstrated that recently. So fair play to the Swiss. France seemed to have lacked that togetherness in this tournament.

Starting to think this might be one of those tournaments that will be won by an outsider like Denmark.
