My thoughts on the penalty above Sean. Two balls not ideal but did they really create a problem? Disgraceful to use a laser pen on Schmeichel for the penalty.

Thoughts on the alleged foul for the penalty. Yes, it appeared to be very soft. But then when you go so deep and have such pressure on you, you increase the risk of such things. Also, it was still a clumsy lurch by the defender.
As for the overall team performance. Generally pretty good again. Almost as though Sterling has gone up a notch in this tournament. Would like to have been a bit bolder more quickly to try and win it in normal time. But I’ll take it.

I think as soon as you start hearing the words “golden generation” labelled on a country’s team, you might as well forget any success there and then. It’s the best team that wins things, not the best players. As I said before, the casual way the Belgium defenders just stood off Insigne as he lined up his shot to score just epitomised the difference between the sides. No way the Italian defenders would have done such a thing, they would have closed down such a player immediately in packs.
