Arsenal have spent more on transfer fees this summer than Man Utd have.

Klopp talking about the end of the transfer window: “Do I expect a busy four days for us? Not really to be honest but you never knowโ.
Am clinging something rotten to “you never know”.

It’s the hunger, drive & athleticism still in Ronaldo that is worth having, and any goals will obviously be a bonus. It’s why Ronaldo is a very robust player and why he has succeeded everywhere he’s been.

I know what you mean Ed, and players returning do tend to cause more excitement than actual results, but I think it does give Man Utd under Ole a big, big lift psychologically.

Manchester City have decided to LEAVE negotiations for Cristiano Ronaldo. Heโs NOT joining Manchester City – club position has been so clear in the last minutes. ๐ซ๐ต #MCFC #Ronaldo
Important to clarify: personal terms have never been agreed, same for fee for Juventus. โ pic.twitter.com/lEE5A6XSKY

Interestingly, Liverpool have only ever faced AC Milan in a Champions League final. The two games in 2005 & 2007.

Thereโve been just 6 previous meetings between Atletico & Liverpool. And Liverpool have won just one of them.

26th August 2021 at 11:17 am in reply to: Pep confirms next season will be his last at City. #183505I always think it a bit strange when managers reveal their plans a few years in advance. Many people don’t know their plans or where they’re going to be at in a few weeks or months time, let alone a few years or how they’ll feel. What if Pep’s on the verge of creating another special team by then? He still just going to walk away? Fergie announced his retirement then went back on it in 2001 and said it was a big mistakes. Also if City find a successor during Pep’s last season, that won’t be ideal, and his authority could wane.

Rumours of a move for Ronaldo too. Kane still a possibility. Could be some big moves as we approach the 11th hour of the transfer window.

No expert on this Sean, but looking at this season and last, Real have offloaded ยฃ160 million in players with few incoming. Barcelona I don’t think have. Also I think FFP does not look at overall debt but more on it’s deficit year on year or over several years. But someone else can maybe better explain it or correct that.

Problem is Steveo, since the start of the 19/20 season, Arsenal have a net spend of around ยฃ260 million I think, so thereโs still money being spent. The problem is they generally seem players more for the long term. Whilst Man Utd have also spent a bit on long term signings, they can also spend big on star players still. So whilst there may be some valid question marks over Arteta, he has been put in a difficult position where he has been put there to play the long game with patience but has still spent a lot so putting pressure on him in the short term with no big names to help bail him out.

Yes it does reek of a press headline. But either way, as I say above, the money spent is adding a lot of pressure on him. You can’t really spend a lot but build slowly. The two don’t really go together in this climate.

Nine, if that’s true about him having only 5 games to save his job, then that just shows how all over the place the board is. They back a manager in the transfer market at the start of the season, then after just a few games, say he only has 5 games to prove his worth.
A problem is if you back a manager with a lot of money then it puts the pressure on them a lot more. Moyes was appointed West Ham manager at the same time Arteta was and has a much lower net spend, and Moyes is outperforming him. Similarly, on MNF last night, they compared Klopp’s and Solksjaer’s record of their first 99 games which was actually very similar. But Klopp had a net spend of +ยฃ30 mill profit, Solksjaer had a net spend of -ยฃ314 mill loss.
