Should never have lasted as long as he did. He was always an interim manager. The board picked the easy option of keeping him on, then probably thought increasingly throwing money at it would make things work.
Again, they move on a manager shortly after giving them a contract, and are left again like a rabbit in the headlights and don’t know what to do next. And now they can’t go to the “former player” option because they’ve now used that option up and there seem to be no other former players suitable. So there’ll be two interims. What a mess.

Even though Keane wouldn’t happen, be great if it did. Get the Amazon team in for an “All or nothing series”. That’d be good popcorn watching.

No decision yet. Highlights of the board meeting…

Nil, I thought they used a magic eight ball to make decisions? But it’s been stuck on “ask again later”.

Mak, I think Utd need someone like Keane who knows the club, has experience, has that authority and has that passion to fire it up. But the problem I think would be is there’s still no love lost between him and Fergie. Plus he’s criticised quite a few of the Utd players publicly recently. So it wouldn’t happen thinking more about it, even on an interim.
Zidane makes sense. I think he was hoping to have a sabbatical whilst he got himself up to scratch with the language. But we’ll see what happens.

Throw Roy Keane in as an interim and see what happens. Think it’s worth a punt.

When Utd sack Ole, I wonder if he’ll judge them for not sacking him earlier?

Zidane is learning English so he can reject Man Utd.

Just ridiculous that Ole is still there now. The board clearly have no idea who to appoint. But surely they have to move him on now even if Carrick takes temporary charge.

It was a good goal by Kante, but the space he had and the casual jogging back of the Leicester players was criminal. Outrageous considering the money these players are on.

I think with the pressing nature of football now, every single player has to press as hard as each other. You can’t have any passengers. And no.9s tend to be selfish and aren’t accustomed to dropping deep to help the team.

Yup. It’s now a two horse race for me between Chelsea & City. Unless Liverpool stop the leaks very quickly.

Was just going to post similar Ed. Leicester are currently in 12th behind Everton. Yet the media seem blinkered about him and parade him as a top elite manager who plays great football.

Threeps, I wouldn’t necessarily throw anybody out of the squad. But I think it’s important for any team to bring in new competition to keep everything fresh and hence help concentrate their minds to keep their focus. And we are also seeing frequent injuries. I accept there are other factors causing us issues as others have flagged up.

Nil, it’s not surprising after having that period of success, some of the hunger isn’t quite there and many players have been elevated on to pedestals. It’s partly why you need to refresh the squad like City have done, to keep players on their toes.

I just don’t know if a bit of arrogance has crept into our game, or we’re trying too hard to resurrect the good times by going too gung-ho. Either way, Klopp’s priority over the next few games should be not to concede.

Anyone else starting to wonder if we have deeper problems than we think? i.e. it’s deeper than just a few injuries in midfield?
I’ve just been looking at our line ups during our dreadful form last season in the winter which was blamed on bad injuries everywhere. But was it really that bad? During a run of 4 straight defeats, we still had a midfield containing Wijnaldum, Milner, Jones, and Thiago. We still had Salah, Firmino & Mane up top. The only real anomaly was Henderson playing in defence.
We’re also told how vital Fabinho is in our midfield. Didn’t make any difference in the recent game at West Ham though.
The only correlation I can see between our poor form and player availability is the form or non availability of Van Dijk. I think a few other things are going on though. Other teams have adapted to how we play and are simply less afraid to play us. Indeed a simple ball over the top can undo us. Or being physical in our box. I think its affecting our confidence that we know we’re vulnerable even if we do seem to be still playing well up front. Even at 2-0 up, I wouldn’t feel completely confident about us winning, which is actually a problem we had with Klopp in the seasons before we won the league. So has Klopp just taken us back a step in making us too gung-ho? That’s what it feels like.

At Norwich, I also think there’s an element of wanting to play attractive football whatever the cost to entertain the fans. Even though Chris Hughton kept them up some years ago, I believe some fans hated the miserable type of football they say they used to play to survive.

Translation: I won’t get another job as big as this, so I’m grateful for it.
Gareth Southgate on his potential contract extension: “There aren’t a huge number of jobs out there and being the manager of England is a massive privilege, so of course I take that responsibility really responsibly. It means a lot to me to be in the position I am”. 🏴 @guardian pic.twitter.com/6EDqRvPcRA
