There used to be an FA Cup final replay years ago if the first one ended in a draw. But there’s no way the modern day calendar could now accommodate such a game. At the end of the day, if both teams fail to score after 120 minutes of football, then you can’t really have any sympathy with them if it ends in a shootout. I was a bit surprised Diaz won the man of the match after failing to convert. Alisson clearly had more impact on Liverpool winning the cup.

Conte working his magic. Kane & Son so good.
If I was an Arsenal fan, I just wouldn’t get why they’ve only targeted young players with potential. Even during the doldrums, Liverpool always had a few top quality players in there.

Gary Neville said some months ago that with Liverpool having those 5 strikers he felt it made them more dangerous than City. However, that doesn’t appear to have played out. Yes, you can maybe put some of it down to fatigue as Liverpool have played more games, but if you look at Salah in the recent Spurs game there were several moments where he could have passed to someone in a much better position and instead chose to shoot, probably thinking of his own scoring record. We’ve seen Diaz look frustrated with him & Mane in the past when Salah didn’t pass to him. Contrast City who don’t have many strikers and share the goals more equally throughout the team and have more selfless players to make better decisions in the box and that’s probably borne out the difference between the two teams.

Well that’s the league done and dusted.

The European superleague was never really stopped, merely postponed. It’s happening gradually by piecemeal.

Well, Haaland close to being done.
Erling Haaland to Manchester City, here we go! Haaland has passed medical tests as new Man City player today, he’s back in Dortmund. It will be OFFICIAL this week 🚨🔵 #MCFC
Man City told BVB board that they will activate release clause [closer to €60m than €75m] in few hours. pic.twitter.com/heYobi8S1Y

Villa haven’t generally been defending very well, so I doubt very much they can harm City or Liverpool.

Thing is though Brian, City dominate the ball so well they could afford to accommodate a more “selfish” Haaland up top. The talk of Pogba to City is the one I really don’t get.

Both managers have acted like schoolboys in the last 24 hours what with Klopp swiping at Conte and the way they play and that they’re only sitting in 5th because of it and Pep swiping at the media for supposedly being on Liverpool’s side. All rather pathetic really, but probably emotion coming out in the stress of the run in of the season.

Let’s be honest, the club were like a rabbit in the headlights when Ole had to go and they just had no idea who to put in. Rangnick seemed a good idea in theory in terms of trying to help prepare the ground for next season, but the man seems to have the charisma of a wardrobe and he’s clearly had no impact on that dressing room whatsoever. As Ed says, Man Utd still have some good players and it’s up to Ten Hag to lift them up now.

A good first half performance but an increasingly tired one as the game went on. Spurs dangerous on the break and in Son & Kane they have two of the best in the league. Still sense this may not yet be over.

We certainly are now. What on earth were we doing backing off Kane?

We’re crying out for Jota in a game like this to pop up in the box with a goal.

You’re better off in the league if you win one and lose one (3 points) rather than drawing two games (2 points) creating a 1 point gap – and there’s the gap between the top two sides.

As Simon Jordan said recently, Pep is hellbent on his philosophy and won’t change or adapt. Over the course of a season, that creates great consistency and is a big part of their success in winning the domestic leagues as Foxy said. However, they lack that adaptation and togetherness in a big game. Maybe that seems harsh, but such traits are highlighted when the margins become fine. Pep is very narrowly missing out on winning the CL over recent years, and Klopp is very narrowly missing out on the league for several seasons. Pep is a master of consistency, Klopp a master of mentality. You’re seeing that play out in the fact that Pep is succeeding in the league more, Klopp in the CL more.

Can’t believe we are the worst ranked English side on UEFA’s coefficient. Those early years out the competition were costly.
The main reason that #RealMadrid €128m is higher than #LFC €118m is the UEFA coefficient, where they receive €36m, compared to Liverpool’s €23m.
The Reds’ ranking will improve next season, as the 10-year coefficient will drop 2011/12 when they did not qualify for Europe. pic.twitter.com/XJoTzGRmGR
