It’s results like these that are just going to give more and more credence to the superleague arguments.

Indeed Banjo, and the so called race for top 4 over recent years has often been anything but.

Given how woeful the race for top 4 has been over recent seasons, maybe not out of it yet. One question for Klopp, given our vulnerabilities at the moment, why not keep the same line up for a few weeks? Don’t think the changes help, though they obviously should have done better.

That penalty sums up our casual mindset today.

Just a different team away from home. Points to a lack of leaders on the pitch. At home, we have the crowd to shout at us. Away, we just become casual. Filtering the league table for home games only, weโre 3rd. For away games only, weโre 11th. Dreadful.

For every action, there’s a reaction. Looks like this is backfiring now and creating a bigger mess. Basically like a Twitter spat entering real life. I preferred life before social media.
I have informed the BBC that I wonโt be appearing on MOTD tomorrow night.

The problem youโve got is Benfica will pretty much guarantee players they find that theyโll get lots of first team football. Would they get that at a big PL club? We see how big PL clubs, generally speaking, just donโt like risking young unproven players and thereโs a risk theyโd be stuck on the bench or sent on loan somewhere.

The concern I’d have if I was Arsenal is that it tends to be easier to chase than to stay on top. City have shown they’ve had the metal in recent years to cope with being top, so chasing should be easier for them. One thing Arsenal can look to is City progressing in the CL and them starting to concentrate on that should they get to the latter stages, particularly if they did start falling a bit further back in the league.

Whilst the midfield and defence have obviously had their problems this season and still needs addressing, if our attack clicks and is fluid, that’s ultimately what gets us going as it keeps the opposition at bay and takes the pressure off the midfield and defence. I still maintain that bad blip 2 seasons ago in the winter was more down to the poor form of the attack rather than the defence/midfield.

Threeps, indeed, and it further adds to the debate about Thiago, who although he may seem to make the team better, I think he can be too loose in possession, and that can really harm us at times.

6th March 2023 at 10:16 am in reply to: Most embarrassing Manchester United performance today #205087I do think some of these pundits have got too comfortable in their positions. Some of their predictions are getting embarrassing and any objectivity they did have seems to be eroding. Whether in this social media climate where there’s an almost encouragement to say provocative things to get hits is exacerbating things I don’t know, but I do think, like in all jobs, you should be periodically reviewed on the quality and accuracy of your output, and if you’re increasingly found wanting, you should be replaced by someone better. But as I say, with all the controversy it causes with social media, that culture is probably here to stay. Social media really has been a blight on our whole culture.

5th March 2023 at 10:05 pm in reply to: Most embarrassing Manchester United performance today #205040The commentators are increasingly resembling a fan zone TV probably because they think it makes things more spicy and creates hits on social media. But they’re doing themselves no favours because they start blowing themselves up with their biased predictions. Carragher predicted Liverpool would win the league this season. And not that long ago Neville predicted Man Utd would finish above Arsenal.

Its interesting more of the bigger teams are having big scores against them in more recent years. Iโm just currently reading a biography of Klopp and his football philosophy and the thing is now with all this high pressing weโre seeing is that a team only needs to be 5% down and it can have a dramatic effect on the team as a whole and it can leave big gaps as for it to work effectively, *everyone* has to do their job.
In other words, when the wheels do come off, they come off spectacularly.

This may help answer a few quadruple claims. Looks like Paul Scholes said โit was still onโ a few weeks ago.

Just bizarre that the result is greater this season versus last season. Just can’t predict football.
