If this is still 0-0 after 80 mins it’s gonna get very nervy…

Salah is obviously doing enough at the moment as he is the club 2nd top scorer this season with 10 goals. But he can’t half be frustrating at times.

Hightown, interesting thing about Keita is that Klopp clearly trusts him even if he hasn’t looked quite at it as he is very much happy to keep playing him, even if the game is big.
Keita very good there setting up Salah, who hasn’t been terribly good…

Pagan, no doubt – but then as daft as it sounds – at the time, a club probably feels better when they spend big on a player because they think he *must* be good. And it makes a statement and puts the club even more on the map, initially anyway.
A similar thing happened with Sakho at Liverpool, with the club actually saying I think at the time that it was a statement signing and you could almost see the board patting themselves on the back on how good they felt about it. But Klopp didn’t take long to move him on. Probably say the same thing about Torres going to Chelsea. Big clubs like making statements.

I’d rather ensure we have the league wrapped up. The club World Cup is a bonus, a nice thing to have. But nobody goes into a new season primarily targeting that trophy. It’s an afterthought.

A problem Pagan is that the bigger clubs don’t want to take the risk on cheaper players from abroad. They’d even rather let them go to a club like Leicester, and then pay 6 times the price later on when they’ve proved their worth (Kante being a prime example). Big clubs like certainty.
Much has been made of how much City have missed Vincent Kompany and what a bargain he was when he was bought. Yet he was bought just prior to the big takeover in 2008 at a time when City were told they had to sell to buy, so it begs the question – would City have ever bought Kompany if they’d had a lot more money at their disposal?

This thread is eerily similar to the Liverpool TT forum some years ago around the Brendan Rodgers era. Leaders needed, better quality and scouting needed in the transfer market, develop the youngsters, sort the defence out, etc.
And I do see some similarities with Lampard’s first season and the early part of Rodgers tenure at Liverpool. Both managers have certainly given their teams more of an identity. But tactically at times and at the back, they’ve had some issues.
Be interesting to see how Frank gets on with some financial clout behind him, something Rodgers didn’t quite have, although there were some other issues there.

C1967, with our recent history, I can assure you, none of us Liverpool fans will be enjoying anything until we’re 10 points clear with one game to go…

The away game at Leicester that Liverpool come back to after the club World Cup in a few weeks has just ratched up a notch.

I think Pep has overthought his setup and tactics in the big CL games since he’s been at Barcelona. I suspect this is because he doesn’t quite have the same trust in the players that he did at Barca.

I somewhat agree Nine, these performances are not indicative of a manager that has lost the dressing room. Yes they’ll still be inconsistent, but is another manager really going to change a lot with this crop of players? Not for me.

Yup…Man Utd’s record in the big games this season: Unbeaten and taken 14/18 points.

Man Utd are unbeaten in the big games this season. Beaten Chelsea, Leicester, drew vs Arsenal, drew vs Liverpool, beat Spurs, now beating City.

So far so good for us. In recent days goals from all our squad: Shaqiri, Origi, Ox and now Keita. And after being rested, Salah looks a bit fresher.

I think Everton just need some confidence. Think there’s still quite a good team there on their day. Don’t get the impression man management was Silva’s strongest suit.
