Yeh Minamino will probably need to bulk up for this league, he currently has the slim build you see of an F1 driver. Thought heās looked ok though. Think Curtis Jones looks a good player.

Absolutely Hightown, but I think we have to mention City. They raised the bar to a phenomenal level and weāve had to reach perfection to overtake them. And perfection, weāve pretty much reached. Whilst it was good again tonight (and I think the BT commentator said we broke our record for number of completed passes tonight in a game!), the Leicester away game is still the standout game for me. It was like watching a computer on āexpert modeā beating a lowly novice. Passing perfect, effective, devastating, quick and outstanding in all areas of the pitch. But Iām still looking forward to Minamino playing!
874 – Liverpool completed 874 passes against Sheffield United this evening; their most in a Premier League game since Opta have this data recorded (since the 2003-04 season), with only Manchester City managing more in a game in this period (three times). Untouchable. pic.twitter.com/EnaMAJTuMF

Itās also called common sense, but the authorities thought the technology would save them from any work and that it would take care of everything. Will any heads roll after the debacle of this season or will it be the usual line trotted out that ālessons have been learnedā?

Whatās frustrating is that a lot of us flagged up this potential problem up before the season started – why didnāt the so called authorities?

I donāt think the everyday fan cares one hoot on how much agents are paid, so long as the player they want gets signed up, theyāre happy. Any other walk of life, theyād be uproar. But fear of losing ground to their competitors and tribalism quells such outrage stone dead. All that will probably happen here is a bit of window dressing to make it appear that agents donāt make as much as they currently do, but then the agents will simply increase the fees to their players. As Pagan rightly says, clubs use agents as a back door to get to a player. That culture aināt going to change because tribalism rules everything.
Itās the same reason very little gets made of managers who get paid off huge amounts when sacked after failure. All the attention is on the immediate future of āyes, but who can we get in now to move up the table again?!ā It is in many ways irrational but it is akin to a pleasure seeking activity focussed solely on the next āhitā rather than dwelling on past failures and costs.

Big win. Wolves a good side. Werenāt at our best, perhaps tiredness coming in after recent events. We all know the close offside VAR rule is farcical and needs changing.

Another close offside cancels a goal. Awful when itās against you, but very sheepish when it goes your way.

Pagan, itās all about being somewhat ruthless and preparing for tomorrow. I think DirtyHarry mentioned on TT the other day about us needing to be prepared to potentially lose one of either Salah or ManĆ© in the summer, who may simply want a new challenge somewhere. But either way, if you keep buying new up and coming players who will start to push out the established players, that is the best way to maintain success and is more of a natural replacement of the squad as opposed to waiting until everyone gets older and having to replace the whole lot. It may be you have to move on players who are still around their peak to ensure you give tomorrowās man a chance. But the problem with football as we all know is that it, like many things in life, is governed by fear. Fear of losing ground to other teams. So many teams donāt see the wisdom of doing such things, they get transfixed by the short term.

Well itās ours to lose now. Just need to be wary of complacency now, the only potential problem with such a big lead. Perhaps be wise to start blooding the squad like Shaqiri a bit more to maintain the competition and keep players on their feet and also allow others to rest. Minamino to look forward to, too.

Henderson is a player that always puts a shift in and does what the manager asks him to do. Which is the basic reason why Klopp relies on him so. I think heās a very good passer of the ball, has the energy to press and when the team is on top, and thereās more space, he can look a very good player. Itās when the team isnāt playing so well or weāre up against a defensive side, that he then seems to go under the radar and then the criticism comes regarding his āplaying safeā style at times. But then I suspect thatās not really why heās in the team – heās in the team because as I said at the start, he follows to a āTā what the manager wants. And anything else he can do on top of that is a bonus. Thatās the way to view Henderson for me.

I think Klopp has actually conceded that itās because of City raising the bar over recent seasons that itās forced Liverpool to raise it too. Even drawing games now isnāt good enough. Had City not done so, I doubt Liverpool would now have such a big lead. Competition drives competition.

Special mention to Gomez. Looks back to his best. And suddenly the clean sheets are coming back.

Thought we were fabulous tonight, couldnāt ask for much more considering weāve just come back from Qatar. Most impressive thing was the maturity and control. Third goal by Firmino just epitomised it – Firmino could have chosen to play the easy ball but spun round and ran back towards goal. Great great goal. Just hope Hendersonās ok.

23rd December 2019 at 9:33 pm in reply to: Average annual salary of Premier League players tops Ā£3m #57366They certainly need to stop incentivising agents making big money out of transfers. Theyāre like Lady Macbeth type characters manipulating their clients to move to make even more dough.

23rd December 2019 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Average annual salary of Premier League players tops Ā£3m #57358Thought that summed it up when it was revealed that Man Utd are still paying more in wages on Sanchez than Sheffield Utd were paying to their entire squad. But itās the fans that are ultimately making all this sustainable.
