May as well start picking the bones out of it. There’s a concept in physics called unstable equilibrium, i.e. a small disturbance can create a large change like a ball placed on top of a hill. I think when we miss a few players we are suddenly quite susceptible to big problems. Granted we generally played poorly today anyway, and the high line is then riskier when not playing well, we can be really vulnerable if several things aren’t quite right. You’d expect Klopp to review such things now with our strategy and tactics. There’s a time and a place for the high line, but we have to be adaptable. And we really do want a better second goalkeeper. He’s far too gaffe prone. Bit of a perfect storm perhaps today as well, but lots for Klopp to think about. But not one to panic about…just yet.

A paradox for the other clubs. We need fans to survive but without them it creates a level playing field.

I recently said on here we didn’t need anyone else. Can I just completely retract that statement.

Not 10, please not 10. Words I didn’t think I’d be uttering before the game.

Get Gomez off, for crying out loud.

It should give us some humility this game. I think to keep playing this high line thinking you’ll get away with all the time is just arrogance.

This season is going to be absolutely barmy…

Think it’s fair to say the goal scoring records will be broken this season.

They’ve been doing their homework on us. Will Klopp ease back the high line?

And that’s why I said we needed a better reserve goalkeeper.

Poch the obvious choice. Will get them organised, harder to beat, develop the players, etc. Won’t guarantee any trophies but will lay a better foundation than Solksjaer has. Allegri for me is quite defensive and Utd have sort of been there with Mourinho. Nagelsmann still only 33, would be hell of a gamble for someone untested in the league and the board will no doubt want to play safe at the moment. Ancelotti would have been a good call, but that ship has sailed.

Under Solksjaer Man Utd have just had winning runs and not much more than that. There’s no foundation there and it eventually fizzles out. Suspect the change will be coming soon…

As we’ve said time and again, Man Utd are lacking serious leadership off the pitch. They are being run to tick over, nothing more.

Why didn’t it go to VAR or the ref look at the monitor?

Don’t think Curtis Jones had his best game tonight. Know he missed a good chance but Minamino looking more settled and sharp. Bizarrely I think Shaqiri would have offered more tonight but looks like he’s off.

Yes Origi tried to be too clever there.
Arsenal have the air of when Houllier came into Liverpool. Hard to beat first, stay in the game and eek out results.

Yup, for once, I can’t really say “we need” anyone else. I was previously a bit worried about cover for the front 3 and needing a bit more in midfield. All that looks to have been taken care of. The focus looks just as strong as ever and Mané & Salah look like they’re playing for their first trophy. Even Gary Neville had to concede last night that it was the best “lockdown” performance he’d seen so far. And as you say, there’s a real foundation there too with some of the young players coming through. This is what strong leadership and direction looks like. After all those false dawns, fabulous to see it. Let’s give the fans more to celebrate when they can come back…
