Like the idea Pagan to ditch the lines. Problem is the lines are available in the system, and so are too tempting to look at. Indeed that is a big problem – the availability of such things and this notion that we think we can reach perfection in accuracy is just too tempting to many to throw over the wayside. So they cling to it like Gollum with the ring. (That’s enough analogies for the moment). 😂

They won’t ditch it now. We’re just going to have to wait for some proper leadership on it to shake out the nonsense areas of it. The refs can start that process. But the premier league don’t appear to be in a rush to change things:

Just the feeling I get from him Ed, think he’d be the better bet. Poch has many good attributes, but he’s just not a winner for me. You have to look to the long term – why install somebody as manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world if you don’t quite think he’s got it to take you back to the top? Take it from a Liverpool fan during all those years as a nearly team – it’s very easy to drift into a pragmatic mentality, thinking you need to take it step by step. But it never works because you just keep drifting. Yes, there’s a bit of work to do there, but a few signings can make a huge difference.

Poch or Allegri for Man Utd? I’d be thinking more along the lines of Allegri now. More charismatic than Poch and probably lets the players play a bit more off the cuff. Would Pogba suddenly have a change of heart if he walked through the door too?

To be fair Reina was very very good for a few seasons at Liverpool, winning the golden glove for 3 consecutive seasons. But thereafter the mistakes started to creep in, and he declined quite quickly. Mignolet is an ok no.2 keeper but has an error in him every so often.

There’s been a feeling for many years that “we’ve got to do something!” over some of the wrong decisions that have been awarded, given that we now have better more widespread video technology and communications available. This has been driven by several different groups. But the “we’ve got to do something!” mentality nearly always produces disastrous results because it is based primarily on fear – fear of an injustice, even a minor one, being committed. So it was inevitably going to be utilised to the nth degree and this is the mentality that results from such a thing. As with other things in human history, the pendulum always swings too far the other way initially, so we’ll have to just wait for it to swing back a bit. That may take some time.
