We were more clinical in terms of chances. But had Jose had a Diego Costa like he did at Chelsea, he’ll think a player like that would have converted some of those chances tonight. Spurs perhaps just lacking one more of those players to take that final step. But they’ll still have a strong season.

Jose having a meltdown now.

If Spurs just had one more very special player, Jose would have probably have played slightly less on the handbrake tonight. But obviously doesn’t feel confident enough and played the percentages game. Wonder if he would have brought Bale on if he’d been available.

Might as well offload Minamino – Klopp clearly doesn’t think he’s worth bringing on even for fresh legs.

Need something special to turn this. Not seen quite enough so far. And we look vulnerable to boot.

Funnily enough Sean, almost akin to that Chelsea game in 13/14 when we were so far up the pitch. Jose again.

Margins don’t get thinner than that. But all part of Jose’s game plan.

Was always going to take a goal like that tonight to break the deadlock.

Was just thinking too Ed, how many world class strikers are out there at the moment? Not many…

Does it not just prove how difficult it is to replace players like Aguero? They are unreplaceable and only come along every so often.

I’ve been critical of Fabinho but he’s undoubtedly a very good reader of the game, hence he’s been very good in defence. But he lacks pace (as does Matip) so playing a high line with them is unwise.

He listed a lot of our players who aren’t currently injured, hence he’s trying to put the pressure on us. No doubt he couldn’t resist – he’ll use every trick he can to get one over on us.

I am a moderate leaver, I wanted to get out of the political side of the EU but recognise that Britain is no longer any kind of significant power anymore so could have lived with us staying in the single market (i.e. a Norway type deal). Given that we donβt really make much anymore, a lot of the trade is going to be incoming rather than outgoing. Yes we can make the UK more attractive to businesses by lowering taxes (and no doubt the EU has some worries about that), but I donβt think it will be as significant as some people make out. For me the country needs to start making things again that the world wants as well as reforming the education system where standards have dropped significantly. If we could start doing that again and enhance our prosperity and productivity, perhaps in the future we could have looked at further disentangling ourselves from the single market. Until any political party starts to grasp our current account imbalance, the country will continue to slump.

Very sad to hear. He turned the whole culture of the club around and 2001 with the treble cup win was a great highlight. Don’t think he was ever quite the same after his heart condition, but he still left the ingredients for Benitez to win the CL when he took over. Probably one of our most important managers of the last few decades. RIP Gerard.

Wasnβt there a Simpsons episode where Homer became a boxer and kept winning because he just waited for his opponents to tire themselves out? Ole take note.
