Need to wrap Jota in cotton wool this month. He really does give us another dynamic. I remember a few seasons ago when we lost all those games at home and much of the focus was on the then makeshift defence using midfielders. But I think that period also coincided with Jota being out.

I think Klopp is up there with Ferguson in terms of instilling that grit and having the bravery to go for games and making the right changes.

Nice way to finish the game. Klopp really has instilled a lot of grit in this team. If only we had better finishers.

Konates been very good for some time this season but Van Dijk has got the headlines.

Sums up the game in terms of finishing that it takes an own goal to break the deadlock.

Here comes Jota.

No good though Sean if they can’t finish. Problem is our forwards have a similar problem. Even if we’d been more secure at the back in the first half I still don’t have much faith in our forward players.
City must be watching this thinking they don’t have much to worry about with either of their rivals.

Both sides look short up top. Jota maybe to come on again but we really need to look after him while Mo’s away.

CM, I think it’s just stupid bureaucratic rules that because the on field decision was a penalty and because the replay still showed contact, they couldn’t overturn it. I don’t think anyone was brave enough to overrule it. Few people tend to speak up (though I dont think the audio has been released yet). Look at the goal that should have stood in the Spurs Liverpool game – I think there was only one voice that spoke up and then the culture was then “we couldn’t do anything now because of the rules.”

Yeh I think Carragher is getting a bit irritating now. As Mak says, thereโs a lot of fake melodrama that can then be cut up into YouTube clips to get clicks and views. Just stick to the football.

Englandโs golden generation of Rooney, Lampard & Gerrard really setting the managerial world alight arenโt they?

Xabi Alonso will be sought after with his record with Bayer Leverkusen but will he move to the premier league yet? Not sure the Liverpool connection would help going to Utd but maybe Newcastle if they continue to stutter.

I think Howe is struggling with injuries in the busy Christmas schedule as well as raising expectations on himself from last season. Personally, I’d keep him for the moment as I think he’s a good manager.

It’s frustrating Sean. If Nunez was another Manรฉ, wed have a real chance this season.

Getting that penalty on a technicality that there was still contact I concede is embarrassing. Why didnโt he stay on his feet and finish it?

At last. Diaz made that. To be fair, Diaz has been very good tonight. I’ll defend him a bit more because I think Diaz is more of a traditional winger as opposed to someone expected to bang in the goals.

I think we got a bit giddy with Nunez’s performance against us for Benfica a few seasons back. He’s got something but is so sporadic he can’t be relied upon. An impact player at best for me. We still need to replace Manรฉ’s goals up top. Had we done so, we’d have a good shot at the title this season.

Nunez through one on one. Your know what the result will be. Boy do we miss Mane in those situations.

We might need Jota on here earlier than we thought we might.

Alas, that is sadly becoming the case nil and you are right to raise this as it is now in danger of becoming normalised and some footballers may actually be put off from coming to the league. Didnโt Di Maria actually leave because of such a thing?
The actual police numbers per head of population I believe are still quite high compared to back when they used to conduct preventative foot patrols in the 60s. The problem is the police now tend to react to crime rather than prevent it. Until local police stations are reopened and mass preventative foot controls are once again conducted putting authority back on the streets rather than the method of reactive policing we have now where I donโt think the police even always turn up for every crime, nothing will change and the criminals wonโt have much to fear. The police were actually set up by Sir Robert Peel centuries ago to prevent crime through preventive foot patrols in the community (hence the term bobbies) and gathering intelligence on the streets. That needs to come back and no political party is serious about it. Donโt be conned by slogans of โmore bobbies on the beat.โ It wonโt happen on no where near the scale it needs to.
Added to that by the time most criminals end up in prison they are already habitual criminals having been let off so many previous convictions through non custodial sentences. But as I say, good luck finding a politic party with the will to reform the police and criminal justice system.
