Agreed Nike, nobody wants a situation like Germany or France but I think the EPL is pretty competitive. You can also look at it and say City (if we win this year) have won only 3 out of the last 7 titles so perspective is important. Once you build a great team it normally last for a few seasons so it’s to be expected we’d be in contention. This year has been an odd year for all clubs so hard to judge but I suspect Liverpool won’t be as bad as they have been next year, Utd are looking better than they have in a long time, Chelsea look a threat, Spurs could improve if they pick the right manager, not to mention the up and coming West Ham and Everton sides, plus everyone’s favourite dark horse Leicester City. Could be very interesting, certainly more possibilities than any other top league in the world.

Yeah, good win despite the setbacks. I think he’ll change for the league cup and try and keep his best side for the PSG game. I think he’ll risk losing the league cup for a better chance against PSG. Hopefully we can do well in both.

Well I’ve just received an official apology from City (as will all season ticket holders and club members) signed by Ferran Soriano regarding City’s part in this ridiculous proposal. This is where the 6 begin trying to re-build their reputations with us I suppose. Makes me think there is an opportunity to push for real reform at European competition level – is it worth starting a new thread to discuss the new Champions League format proposals which went under the radar this week?

Mikus some good points but remember that the creation of the premier league, swiftly followed by Utd floating on the stock exchange, turning into a PLC, inventing the club superstore and selling Utd brand whiskey and other none football merchandise was the start of a huge influx of cash for Utd in particular – I’m not blaming them, they weren’t to know where the rest of us would take it, but in order to compete for players and success investors (such as Walker and Abramovich) seemed essential to many clubs – bear in mind that Arsenal only ever won 3 EPL titles, whilst Utd racked up 13. Without Jack Walker (1 title), Abramovich (5 titles), and eventually Mansour at City (4 titles), how dominant would Utd have been? The EPL would I expect have been just like every other European League with 1 dominant team winning every season. Sadly this week many clubs have forgotten what it was like to be outside looking in.

Agree Brian, we definitely need a better performance and result; not great against Leeds or Chelsea. Seems odd to say it but we look better in Europe recently; shame that we’d agreed to walk away from it all just as we were starting to get somewhere 😉_____________________________

One other potentially good thing to come out of this is that many of the ‘dirty half-dozen’ cronies who sat on the European Club Association board had resigned to take up positions on the board of the ESL, hopefully that means new members from less self interested clubs will rise to positions where they can influence the association for the better.

Glad that all 6 have no withdrawn from the proposals but this leaves a really bad taste in the mouth. Mansour has soured 10 years of exemplary ownership with this for me.

The question is who in each of the clubs actually thought this would be acceptable to anyone? There are some really greedy idiots employed, or more likely owners of, all 6.

Hi Brian blue, not sure if you remember but I used to post lots on Teamtalk before that forum went downhill drastically. I’ve signed up to this just now as a form of therapy I think; like the rest of you I’m pretty angry about this proposal and need a place to vent 😉
